0:00 "This is Undaunted Life, a Man's Podcast."
0:23 I'm your host Kyle Thompson.
0:25 Let's get into it.
0:27 Pray then like this.
0:28 Your Father in Heaven hallowed be your name.
0:31 Your kingdom come, your will be done, on Earth as it is in Heaven.
0:34 Give us to stay our daily bread, and forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our
0:39 debtors, and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
0:43 For if you forgive others, their trespasses, your Heavenly Father will also forgive you.
0:47 But if you do not forgive others, their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses."
0:53 So what in the world am I supposed to do now?
0:57 That particular question has been haunting me, and it's been a question that I've frankly
1:03 been wrestling with for the last couple of weeks.
1:06 So some of you, which by the way, I don't know why my dog is all of a sudden freaking
1:09 out in the background.
1:10 So if you hear a bunch of panting and something that sounds like a collar going crazy, that
1:14 is Roman the Giant, so please forgive him.
1:17 But as most of you know, and I know some of you didn't know by some of the messages that
1:21 I've gotten here recently, but on March the 7th, I sent out an email and made a post on
1:26 social media saying that I had received some very tragic news, and that I would be taking
1:32 an indefinite hiatus from all undaunted life activities, and that included scheduled interviews,
1:39 other recordings, forging tables, those types of things.
1:42 So I wanted to talk with you a little bit about that today.
1:47 Well let's go all the way back.
1:48 So since we started the show back in 2017, if you can believe we've been around for that
1:54 long, but we started back in 2017.
1:56 We have put out at least one episode per week without fail.
2:00 And typically those come out on Thursdays, right?
2:04 And so regardless of what was going on in my life, my career, my schedule, injuries,
2:09 surgeries, babies being born, sicknesses, you know, whatever was coming up, we've always
2:14 gotten the job done and we've done it because we wanted to serve you guys.
2:17 Now we've been able to do that because, and you know, this is for all you people that
2:21 understand the big five personality traits.
2:24 I'm incredibly high in conscientiousness and openness.
2:27 So that means I'm a very creative person.
2:29 That's the openness part, but I also, you know, get a lot of crap done.
2:33 That's the conscientiousness part.
2:35 So even if I knew that I would be out of pocket for a couple of weeks because of a birth of
2:39 a child, or maybe even months because of a pre-planned surgery like last year with my
2:44 planned first vocal court surgery and then the unplanned second vocal court surgery,
2:49 I was able to bust my tail for weeks and sometimes months in advance to ensure that you guys
2:56 didn't have any disruptions to the cadence of our show, that you would have high quality
3:00 content that you could consume and hopefully better yourselves with.
3:04 And that's what we've been able to provide for you.
3:07 But what happened here recently in my family was something that I didn't see coming.
3:12 So I certainly couldn't plan for it.
3:14 And the reason why I put out that statement to all of you is because I felt like I owed
3:18 you, frankly, at least something that resembled a reason for my absence because I didn't feel
3:25 like it would be right to just ghost you.
3:27 Because again, a lot of you guys, since 2017, you've been showing up to your podcast feed
3:31 on Thursday, knowing that there would be an episode there.
3:33 Now we've added the forging table on Sundays and we've added a lot of interviews on Tuesdays
3:37 and some other stuff here and there, but Thursdays kind of like our day.
3:40 That was the day that I picked early on because I was like, okay, I have to avoid this show,
3:43 which releases on this day and I have to avoid that show.
3:45 And so I just kind of picked Thursday.
3:47 So just didn't feel right, just not posting an episode on a Thursday for the first time
3:52 in years and years and years and then not saying anything.
3:55 Now many of you have tried to kind of, you know, read between the lines and, you know,
4:01 speculate about what happened or about what's going on in my family.
4:04 So I didn't want to address that from the beginning.
4:07 In terms of the specifics of what happened inside of my family, what's currently going
4:12 on inside of my family, I've determined that right now is not the right nor appropriate
4:18 time to share any details.
4:20 And frankly, depending upon what kind of happens over the next several weeks and months and
4:25 in different things I'm taking into consideration, I may never share the details.
4:29 So you know, like with all of you guys, there are certain pockets of your life and I'm very
4:32 open on the show.
4:33 I share tons of things on the show, a lot of embarrassing things about me, you know,
4:37 celebratory things, all that I share with you.
4:39 But not everything is for public consumption.
4:42 But what I can tell you are two things.
4:45 Okay.
4:46 Number one, I'm not dying.
4:47 Okay.
4:48 So that should make most of you happy.
4:49 I would assume most of you listening to this don't want me to die, but there were a lot
4:52 of people that were concerned that, you know, I had gotten some sort of, you know, chronic
4:57 disease or some sort of like terminal cancer or something like that, or that I had catastrophically
5:04 lost my voice, like, you know, permanently lost my voice, that type of thing.
5:08 But no, I am healthy.
5:10 And the second thing is also very important.
5:12 And that's no, I did not have a moral failure.
5:15 So unfortunately, a lot of you guys in this audience, you're used to it at this point
5:19 when your favorite Christian, whatever, whether it's a pastor or some sort of parachurch
5:24 ministry leader or some sort of nonprofit leader or something like that goes off the
5:28 deep end and goes and does something crazy and basically disqualifies himself from ministry,
5:34 even if they actually keep their ministry, nothing like that happened here in this case.
5:38 So my conscience is clear.
5:40 I did not have a moral failure.
5:41 I know some of you were speculating that, but no, I'm not dying.
5:45 No, there was not a moral failure.
5:47 So in this quick episode today, and again, it'll just be pretty quick.
5:51 I want to give you an idea of what to expect in the coming weeks and months from me and
5:56 the show.
5:57 So this is going to kind of be a little bit of housekeeping with you guys.
5:59 And then I have a few messages for you that you should definitely stick around for.
6:03 So as I mentioned in my statement that I released earlier this month, I have four forging table
6:08 episodes that have already been recorded that have just not been released yet.
6:12 So those are Matthew 25, 26, 27, and then the final chapter 28.
6:16 So I'm going to start releasing those episodes this Friday.
6:20 So this Friday, I'm going to release Matthew 25.
6:23 And then, you know, every couple of days, I'll release another one.
6:25 And then the final chapter of Matthew will be released on Easter Sunday.
6:29 In the forging table, guys, we got together like over a year ago, I think, and we like
6:33 planned that out.
6:34 Okay, we're going to do this and then we're going to do this.
6:36 And then, you know, we're going to do Matthew, but we're going to end it on Easter Sunday
6:39 by talking about the resurrection.
6:41 So that is the plan.
6:42 It's been in place for a very, very long time now.
6:44 So we just wanted to make sure that that happened.
6:46 And for fans of the forging table, I can tell you that Matthew 27 and 28 are incredibly
6:51 special.
6:52 We have a very, very cool surprise for you guys on those last two.
6:54 So make sure you check those out.
6:56 Again, those will be coming out here in the next couple of weeks.
6:59 And so in those episodes as well, you know, we kind of have our normal cadence of when
7:02 we say, Hey, we're talking about last week or, Hey, next week, and it may just be not
7:06 next week, but like a couple of days from now.
7:07 So I know it'll be a little bit weird, but it'll be fine.
7:10 Also I'm pretty sure at the end, I'm pretty sure we did this, but I'm pretty sure at the
7:13 end of Matthew 28, I said that we were going to be doing some proverbs.
7:17 I think we said we were going to do a few different proverbs, but we will not be doing
7:20 that now.
7:21 Okay.
7:22 So we are currently in the process of getting more forging table recordings scheduled and
7:27 kind of getting everybody like in the right place.
7:29 And as soon as we get some recorded, I'm just going to start releasing them immediately.
7:34 We typically, excuse me, we typically have a backlog of forging tables recorded that
7:39 are ready to go.
7:40 That backlog has basically been taken up now with this little hiatus that I took.
7:44 So we're going to work through the rest of the year to try to make sure that we continue
7:47 to have that backlog so that when we start posting those on Sundays again, that there's
7:50 not going to be some sort of a problem or some sort of like a missing Sunday or something
7:55 like that.
7:56 But we are going to go straight from the book of Matthew into the book of Acts.
8:00 So for any of you overachievers, your overachievers rather, that want to start digging into a new
8:05 book of the Bible, we will be digging into the book of Acts.
8:07 Like I said, I don't know when we're going to start recording that, but we hopefully
8:10 can do that soon.
8:11 And I've got some surprises for the beginning of the book of Acts that hopefully we can
8:13 work out.
8:14 So it'll make up for some of the last time then in that first week of April, okay, so
8:19 that's here just in a couple of weeks, I will release an interview that I already recorded
8:23 with Pastor Joe B. Martin. So if anything, in that interview seems weird, like time-wise,
8:30 we recorded it like a month ago and I was supposed to release it several weeks ago and
8:34 it just didn't get released because of this hiatus.
8:36 So if something's kind of weird, time-wise, just forgive us, you know, whatever, it just
8:40 kind of is what it is.
8:41 But it's a very, very good interview of all the sit-downs that Joe B and I have had.
8:46 This one is perhaps my favorite.
8:49 So in terms of episode releases in Cadence for April, after I released that interview
8:55 with Joe B, I'm not sure what to tell you, honestly.
8:58 But we will at least, I will guarantee you this, we will at least have a weekly episode
9:02 released for the month of April.
9:04 And we will hopefully be back to our three shows per week Cadence by May.
9:08 That's the goal, but I can guarantee you're going to least get one episode a week.
9:11 I canceled a good amount of upcoming interviews and recording.
9:14 So we'll take a, you know, a second for the whip to crack back on that one.
9:18 So I guess I'm technically not like back, back because I have some other very important
9:23 things I will be needing to focus on here in the near term, but the plan is coming together
9:28 for the future.
9:29 So please just be patient with me.
9:30 Now in terms of the new program that I announced that we would be launching on the 18th of
9:36 April, we're not sure when we're going to reschedule the release of that program.
9:41 We still intend to do so, but just stay tuned for that.
9:43 I know I was like teasing it, teasing it and then I announced it on social and via our mailing
9:49 list and things like that.
9:50 We're going to release it.
9:51 We're just not sure when.
9:52 So stay, stay on for that.
9:54 Now I have a few messages before I let you guys go.
9:56 So to all the people that sent me emails and DMs and text messages and called me and left
10:07 comments on social media and all that over these last couple of weeks, encouraging me,
10:12 praying for me, letting, letting me know that, hey, our entire home group is praying for
10:18 you and are, you know, hey, I let our church know to be praying for you and gosh, you know,
10:21 our family's praying for you around the dinner table.
10:24 You guys have no idea how much that means to me because there are some guys out there
10:29 and I love these guys for years.
10:32 Every few months or so they'll send me an email just like an encouragement or a question
10:36 and a lot of these guys are donors, some of them are not, but just, you know, I kind of
10:40 get a sense of who I'm talking to because I get some of the same emails from some of
10:44 the same guys.
10:45 A lot of the same guys will comment on social media or share on social media.
10:50 But I got a bunch like literally hundreds of messages from people that I had never seen
10:55 their names before.
10:57 So people that have been consuming this show some for a few days and some for since the
11:01 beginning for years and years and years and you just came out of the woodwork to let me
11:06 know that that you care about me, you care about my family, even though you've never
11:11 met them and even though you've never met me, but you care about us enough to add us to
11:15 your prayers and I know, you know, that statement, you believe me, I spent days on that statement.
11:20 I went over that statement with a fine tooth comb with a couple of really smart guys to
11:24 try to like make sure I could communicate fully and clearly without, you know, giving
11:29 away all, you know, everything that's going on with the Thompson family.
11:34 But I did want to give you just that from the bottom of my heart.
11:38 Just thank you so much because I know I didn't respond to any of them.
11:42 As I told you, I wouldn't be responding to anything and to be honest with you.
11:45 The backlog is just kind of crazy.
11:47 So I'm not going to be responding to every single one of those messages, but know that
11:52 I read them and know that it did have a profound impact on me.
11:56 Now this message is to the donors that have stuck around.
12:00 Thank you.
12:01 Thank you so much for believing in us and believing in our content and for sticking around when
12:07 you didn't know when we'd be coming back because I'm very well aware that most of you
12:12 are donating to this show because you're wanting more content to be created.
12:17 And when that content stops, I guess this would be my message to the donors that have
12:22 left us.
12:23 Unfortunately, there have been many.
12:24 I get it.
12:26 If you were giving a service provider money and they stopped providing you that service,
12:31 it makes sense to stop giving them that money.
12:33 Now I would say for those of you donors that have fallen off, maybe you weren't sure.
12:36 Hey, did I have a moral failing?
12:38 Did I disqualify myself from ministry, which didn't happen?
12:41 Am I never coming back?
12:43 You know, I kind of gave you a sense of what life's going to look like starting here in
12:47 the next few days and on into April and on into May, we would encourage you to come back.
12:51 As I told you over and over, we're trying to find ways where we can do other verticals
12:56 where we can get some more money flowing through here.
12:58 So we're not as dependent on donations and so that we can be very, very flexible in terms
13:02 of what we're trying to accomplish with this ministry.
13:04 But as of right now, the overwhelming majority of what we do here is paid for by donors,
13:10 like you guys giving 20 bucks a month, 100 bucks a month in every other different iteration
13:15 in between.
13:17 It's you guys that are helping us equipment around the globe to push back darkness.
13:20 I know I beat that drum all the time, but it's true.
13:22 And so we're so thankful to the donors, even if you did leave us, we're thankful for as
13:27 long as you supported the show in this ministry and to those that are still sticking around
13:31 to this day.
13:32 You guys are gangsters.
13:33 We're so glad you're in the foxhole with us.
13:34 To our sponsors, I know that, you know, you guys have gotten used to us talking about origin
13:38 and Jocko fuel and primal beef and we have some others that we were in the works with
13:44 and we're still in the works with.
13:45 We're so thankful to all of you guys.
13:47 I talked with all of our sponsors, y'all are being very patient with us.
13:51 You're not demanding.
13:52 You got to put out an episode and you got to put out social media posts and you got to
13:54 do this and you got to do that.
13:55 You've all been amazing to us and we're so thankful for that.
13:59 And I guess that's a good thing to know.
14:00 You will notice me putting some more stuff out on social media here soon and all that.
14:04 So that'll kind of get wrapped ramped back up.
14:07 But my closing message to you guys that have stuck around this long and gosh, you've heard
14:13 me beat this drum before as well.
14:16 But if you don't have a fox hole full of guys that love you and that aren't worried
14:24 about offending you, you might not make it when and if your world falls apart.
14:31 So I'm certainly not the first person to point out something like this.
14:34 But most of us, I would say probably all of us, we are one phone call away from hitting
14:41 our knees and having an attack of conscience and attack of faith and just an attack in
14:46 general.
14:48 And most of you know what that one phone call could be.
14:51 It could be about a diagnosis that you're waiting on.
14:54 It could be about an accident that's happened to someone that you love or something like
14:57 that.
14:58 But most of us are just one call away from needing to rely on men around us to help take
15:06 some of the burden.
15:07 And so I thought about listing the men that have showed up and showed out and supported
15:15 me over the last several weeks in a myriad of different ways.
15:19 But I'm going to just keep those names to myself.
15:22 But to those of you that are listening to this right now, you know exactly who you are.
15:27 Okay.
15:28 You know exactly what you did for me.
15:30 You knew the state I was in and the state my family was in when you know this all the
15:36 stuff was initially going down and just the craziness that I personally I'll keep it to
15:41 me personally was dealing with trying to figure out a heading and trying to find my way through
15:47 the fog.
15:48 And I mean guys showed up in immense ways.
15:53 And so that clip that went viral from the Mike Glover show when I was on there talking
15:58 about the difference between a 6 p.m. and a 3 a.m. friend by since December that clip
16:03 has been shared across a bunch of different pages and we're talking tens of millions
16:08 of views and shares and downloads in the whole the whole nine.
16:13 The funny thing about that clip is I think some people are purposefully not getting the
16:17 point because they're like, oh my gosh, this guy's advocating for violence.
16:21 He wants you to be able to call a friend at 3 a.m. and they're going to get a shovel
16:24 and a pistol and they're going to go bury a body.
16:27 That's crazy.
16:28 Who is this person?
16:29 Christian nationalist, you know, it's some sort of nonsense like that.
16:33 The point is obviously not, hey, you should have guys in your life that will help you
16:36 commit murder and hide it you morons.
16:40 The idea is that up to and including something crazy like that, that none of us are ever
16:46 going to have to call about, you need to know that you've got 3 a.m. guys that are ready
16:53 to throw down for you in whatever way that means because there are guys that are ready
16:59 to throw down with these.
17:00 There are guys that are ready to throw down with prayer.
17:04 They're ready to throw down with with their money and their resources.
17:07 They're ready to throw down with their influence.
17:09 They're ready to throw down with their time.
17:11 They're willing and ready to pause their life because your life got flipped upside down.
17:19 And guys, if you don't have those men in your life right now, that is your number one priority
17:27 after God, your marriage and your children is to figure that out because I've talked
17:34 about this a lot.
17:36 You have to make deposits in certain bank accounts if you expect to make withdrawals
17:42 in the future.
17:43 So let's use an easy example, your body.
17:46 So if you get into a crisis situation where you need to perform with your body, whether
17:51 it's your strength or your cardio or something like that, at that moment, you're only able
17:56 to make a withdrawal.
17:57 So if you're in that extreme situation, buddy breaks his leg on a hiking trip, sat phone
18:03 isn't working and they have to send a runner to go get help to get this guy out of there
18:07 or something like that.
18:08 Well, guess what?
18:09 You can't train for that now.
18:12 You're in the moment.
18:14 But if you've been making deposits and that cardiovascular strength and that muscular strength
18:19 bank account for months and months and years and years, well, now it's time to make a withdrawal
18:26 and you're going to be able to do that and potentially save a life, right?
18:30 The same goes with every other situation with the men that are in your life.
18:35 I'm thankful that God gave me the wisdom in the foresight to say, look, you need to invest
18:42 and make deposits in a lot of different men's lives.
18:45 Just do that.
18:46 Do it over and over and over and then do it again.
18:49 Now to be honest with you, I made it a priority to invest in the lives of other men because
18:55 I assumed one day they would need me, right?
18:59 It's a pretty arrogant thing to think, but that's what I thought.
19:03 Hey, something's going to go wrong for these guys.
19:05 Like I'm squared away.
19:06 Nothing's ever going to happen to me, you know, aside from, you know, like a, you know, shark
19:10 nato or something like that, trying to take me out.
19:12 But these guys, I love these guys so much.
19:15 I love their family so much that I am willing to just make sacrifices so I can, you know,
19:20 put an investment into these guys lives because one day their life's going to fall apart and
19:25 then I can jump in and save them.
19:26 I can get under the bar and hold some of that weight up like I can give them some of my
19:30 resources and some of my time and attention to serve them.
19:35 And wouldn't you know it?
19:36 It wasn't their lives that got flipped upside down and it was mine.
19:42 And so those deposits I made in those bank accounts that I thought was going to be for
19:46 their benefit ended up being to my redounding benefit.
19:51 And to be honest with you and again, you guys know exactly who you are.
19:54 I'm not going to say your name, but you know exactly who you are.
19:57 I have no idea where I would be spiritually, mentally and physically right now today as
20:05 I record this, if not for those men.
20:09 That's not hyperbole.
20:10 That's not being being exaggerated to make a point here on a podcast.
20:15 That's just real life.
20:16 Guys, if you don't have a foxhole, if you look to your left and right and you see nobody
20:21 that's a problem.
20:22 If you look to your left and you're right and you're like good, I don't want to go to
20:25 war with these guys.
20:27 You got to fix that.
20:28 There's no more important thing you can put on your goal sheet for 2024 than getting a
20:32 handle on that.
20:34 So I appreciate your guys' attention on this.
20:36 Like I said, we're going to start releasing some of these forging table episodes.
20:39 I appreciate all of you in our audience.
20:41 Thank you so much for your patience.
20:43 We'll talk to you again soon.
