[music] This is Undaunted [music] Life, a man's podcast. I'm your host, Kyle Thompson. Let's get into it. Welcome back to the forging table. The mission of undaunted life is equipping men to push back darkness with content that forges spiritual, mental, and physical resilience. At the forging table, you'll see a group of regular guys forging spiritual resil resistance. >> And you make fun of him. You make horn, right? You say horn can't read. >> It's not that I can't uh pronounce it, right? But I can read. And the worst part about is I actually wrote this. >> And how many times are we into saying it now? So, do I just pick up from where I messed up or do I just like >> hit the repeat button? >> Okay, here we go. >> Welcome back to the forging table. The mission of Undaunted Life is equipping men to push back darkness with content that forges spiritual, mental, and physical resilience. At the forging table, you'll see a group of regular guys forging spiritual resilience by digging into God's word. And we're welcoming all of you to come along on that journey with us. That's Caleb. That's Howard. That's Adam. Guys, let's get into it. >> That kind of sound like Peter. Does that sound like Peter Griffin? Anybody else? >> Is that Peter Griffin? >> Peter Griffin. [laughter] >> Welcome back to the forging table. Uh, yeah. Well, I mean, I I can't do that the entire time. Peter Griffin. >> He's funny, right? >> Is he special to you for any reason? Like, >> you can't give away that secret. You can't give away >> because if people knew that Peter Griffin was my Wi-Fi password. Peter Griffin all lowercase. You said it. >> Can you imagine people? They're just going to pull right up into my driveway and take my Wi-Fi. >> I think you're going to have to change your password now. And which [laughter] do you realize that now that you have to change your password, you're going to have to call Landon 17 times because none of the things in this room are going to work once you change that password? >> Actually, true. Uh, and Matt Conway can't take any more technology calls from me cuz uh, that that's problematic, too. But Peter Griffin is my second favorite password I've ever heard cuz I've got a buddy named Logan. He's he's designed a bunch of the Adon Life T-shirts and all that. He helped me with my design [clears throat] of my, you know, David holding Goliath head tattoo and all that. Uh, his password has always been goosecock. And I just [laughter] I just think it's the funniest thing. Does he spell it does he at least spell it with like two zeros like >> No. He doesn't do there's no protective whatever. But every time I'm anywhere near his router and I got to plug it in, I just giggle like a little kid. So I don't mean if he means like a goose and a fighting [ __ ] or if like if a goose and a fighting [ __ ] had like a baby or you know there are other ways to interpret that but yeah goose [ __ ] >> That's why it's so genius cuz you could take it multiple different directions. It's like is it the goose's actual [ __ ] or is it the [ __ ] of >> Yeah. I mean, this is this is about as bad as that one time when Ryan Horn brought up bong hits on this show. And did you Yeah, you really should listen to the show, Adam. It would actually work out. But out of nowhere, what Howard, what were we even talking about? >> That's exactly what it we hit the smelling salts and then Ryan's like, "Oh, this reminds me [laughter] of taking a long and I" And you could see if you go back in the YouTube cuz I don't I don't watch the YouTube. I just listen to it listen to it back. But I actually watch that part. you can see me because he's right next to me and I just go [sighs] like I just like sighed real big like why so disappointed in you. >> He didn't need that like in that moment. >> Did he immediately regret his decision to bring you? >> Have you ever known Ryan to regret anything? >> No. I just wondered if this was another like WWE. >> No, that guy's like goosecock sure of himself. Like he is just he knows everything that he's done has been perfect and he just knows uh everything. But >> speaking of WWE, have you ever seen WWE? Okay. Should we talk about this right now? I think >> before we do, I need to bring out something cuz y'all had some of my jerky. I'm not a good cook. But there are categories of things that I absolutely crush. Jerky, chili, smashed burgers, brisket, that kind of thing. The other thing is my salty balls. [laughter] >> We go from [ __ ] to balls. >> So, here are Kyle's salty peanut butter balls. >> So, I will uh y'all can go ahead and dig in. So, to the camera, I will go and describe these to you. So, what I do is I get a gigantic mixing bowl and what I do is I take an entire thing of quick oats, not anything else, an entire canister of quick oats and I throw that in. And then what I do is I get two scoops, not three, not one, two scoops of Jaco Fuel whey protein cookies and cream. Okay? Then I get one tablespoon of coarse sea salt. Not sea salt, not salt. Coarse sea salt. Bam. Throw that in. Then I do a little bit of vanilla. I just kind of do a dash, a dash, a dash, a dash, and then I kind of mix that up with my hands. Then what I do is I take an entire thing of peanut butter. So think like the Goodiz one that can kind of fit in your hand about like Yay. >> What kind of peanut butter? >> Uh so I just do the Great Value uh like regular old peanut butter. Peanut butter >> because this it's just peanuts, oil, and salt. So it's not like a bunch of junk in it, preservatives, and sugar and all that. So I put that in there. Then I put in two cups of honey. So throw that in. And then I usually throw in raisins. Pretty [clears throat] sure that's everything. But here's the key. Here's where people try to get all fancy, right? And they try to like kind of like with, you know, guys that I've shared my smashburger recipe with and then they decide they want to make it their own way and then it just doesn't work out. Follow exactly what I said. You have to hand mix it. >> Okay? So, if you put it in one of those mixer things or if you mix it with a spoon, the the things just don't combine as well. And so, literally, you got to get in there and it's a grip workout and you just mix this all up and keep mixing. And you check the bottom and there's still oats down there. All right. So, you mix and mix and mix and mix. And then when you're done, you could put it all like in a like on a cookie sheet and make it flat and cut it into squares. But I just kind of like just so I can go quick. I get these little uh things and I get to call them my salty balls, which is hilarious. And I will tell you this is the first food like real food that both of my boys had. And to this day, those boys and I like we eat several of these a piece every single day. And it's been that way for James for 5 years and Eli for a few years. So there you go. >> Mhm. >> I would I would challenge anybody since this is on video and is now being recorded. Rewind and follow exactly what Kyle just told you to do cuz I've done this four or five times. And this might sound weird, but I [clears throat] >> I my kids love doing it with me. And it's like cuz you have to get this gigantic bowl and we all get our hands in there and we're all mixing it around. Like my youngest, she is constantly asking like, "Dad, when can we make Kyle's salty peanut butter balls?" >> That's right. >> And it's like [clears throat] You know, >> when every time you're at my house, I send you home with like a bag of these because [clears throat] like the sweet Savannah sudden and Sheridan, they don't really care about me as much, but they know if you're anywhere near me that you're going to come home with some of these. >> Yeah. It's like run up. Hey, Kyle, big hug. Where's your uh salty peanut butter balls? >> Yeah. And you know, I love those girls to death. And they can have as many of these as many as possible cuz I mean, this makes a heaping amount amount of these things. And so, we just leave them in the fridge. Uh yeah, that's another thing. store them in the fridge so they kind of stay stay nice and cool, but it's just like a nice little there's nothing in there that's like real bad for you, right? Cuz the raisins don't have any added sugar. There's no added sugar. Um, [clears throat] and there's like one gram added sugar in the the Jaco whey protein or something like that, I think. But that's like per scoop. So, it's almost like the almost like nothing. But what's funny about these is they're so peanut buttery. Usually when I eat these, I will take a dollop of peanut butter, >> put that on top of it, and then down the hatchet. And Kelsey is like, "How?" like that could choke a horse and it's just like well apparently not. >> Of course, this is what I do. I did the math one time and I calculated what the calories were because I added all absolutely I added it all up and it's like 220 or 230 calories per bowl and one time I think I had nine of them together and I was like Kyle [laughter] >> I just had eight calories I had three days worth of food just in salty bald but how much protein? I mean it's a good amount of protein. It is a lot of protein, but it's a lot of calories, too. For sure. 220 calories. It's the honey, I think, that makes it so high. >> Yeah. Well, >> I think that So, the quick oats, they're smaller. >> Exactly. Say big oats, but >> also because the big oats don't they don't absorb the stuff as much. Whereas >> raisins instead of chocolate chips, >> correct? >> Totally. >> Because now my boys James, you know, he's kind of got a little bit of sweet tooth. He likes chocolate. So we So this is like the 10th iteration of this recipe >> because I originally did it with brewer yeast to kind of help with like milk production because that kind of helps someone with milk production. >> Then we stopped making it with that and I've I've done banana protein. I've done vanilla protein powder and the cookies and cream is just the best. I've done, you know, dark chocolate chips and then I've done the raisins which was the best. I've tried the different peanut butters. I've done different oats. >> And so with all those iterations and all that knowledge and all those mistakes, the thing is is even if it's a mistake, I'm gonna eat it. So, like let's say I overcooked a brisket, like I forgot it was in there and I cooked it an extra 4 hours or something like that. I look at that as like a, you know, a I don't know a 40 lb mistake that I have to consume or whatever how big that that brisket is. >> And so that's the way I look at it. But we started this whole thing with >> WWE. >> We did. >> So Jake Winkler, as we found out on this show, oh, I'm sorry. I I didn't use his correct name. Vicious of Vicious and Delicious. Um he admitted, well actually he didn't admit uh his wife just offered up to me in Sunday school cuz Jake Wingsler was not there that uh Jake as an adult male uh successful businessman still to this day watches WWE and as [clears throat] y'all uh for fans of the show that have been fans for a long time. If you're not a fan or if sorry if you're not a fan, get out of here. What are you doing here? But if you've not been a fan for long, if you're not been a listener for long, let me kind of fill you in on the backstory. So, we find all this out and so we're talking to Jake about it and he's, you know, sheepish and, you know, shy about it, but yeah, you know, hey, I'm still into it and I know it's dumb and blah blah and all the things. And then we get this grandio idea, guys, [clears throat] we just we got to get a group together. We got to go to we got to go to a pay-per-view or a RAW or something like that. And then I'm like, oh, hey, when's the the next time they're in Oklahoma City? And was it you? >> Yep. [clears throat] >> Yeah. So Adam, you looked it up and you're like, "Oh my gosh, there's a Monday night Raw in like November or something like that in Oklahoma City at the Paycom Center with the Thunderplay." And it's like, "Oh my gosh, we're going." And then the very next week, we informed you guys that in between filmings, we went and looked at tickets >> and the cheap seats up in like, if you know anything about the arena, up in like, you know, Loud City were like $400. >> And if you want to be anywhere near the ring, we're talking four figures to get somewhere near the ring. And the closer you get to the ring, the level of autism goes up significantly. So if you watch that on television, you know what I'm talking about. And so we shifted the idea. And Jake had never been hunting. He wanted to go hunting. >> And that Monday night was right in the middle of rifle season. Yep. >> So we're like, okay, let's get you out in the woods and then hopefully you kill a deer and then that night we'll we'll go and watch Raw. So we won't go to Raw like in live, but we'll watch it on television. And so to kind of fast forward from there, we got Jake and we put him in a blind and wouldn't you know it, freaking luckiest dude in the world gets himself a deer. >> Hammers a deer f first one drills it dead or in the door. [clears throat] >> And so but then the like scheduling kind of worked out where he had to go like he wasn't going to be able to go there and I'm sitting there like no I did not sign up for me and Adam to sit in a cabin in the woods and watch WWE. We were in the field like about to field dress with them and he was like oh yeah guys so I'm not going to be able to be here so I'm just going to have to leave. We're like Jake >> what do you mean? Yeah this is not going to work. And then he told me like he's like yeah my family we're not going to even use the meat or whatever. And I'm like what in the world is going on? And so we shifted the whole plan. So I commandeered the animal. I said okay fine. I will take all the meat off of this animal and put it in my >> We of course tagged it properly and we followed all of the laws. No misdemeanors were committed. >> We did. Yeah. Which, you know, when you hunt with me every now and then, right? Uh [laughter] if you if you don't have a runin with the law while you're hunting with me, it's because I wasn't doing my job apparently. And so what we decided to do is he had to go back home, but his house is close to Adam's house. And so we're like, okay, I'm going to go, you know, get take care of this deer and then hey, we're going to meet back at Adam's place. Like shower up. Let's meet at Adam's place. We'll have some cigars. We'll have some chicken wings. And we'll have a good time. And then we get to where we sit down and watch Monday Night Raw. And now Adam and I, you know, cuz we were we were watching during, you know, the Hulk Hogan, Macho Man, >> Jake the Snake, >> Jim Dugen. Yeah. Superi Jimmy Shnooka. And then we were still watching into like the Attitude era. So you got, you know, Stone Cold and The Rock and Shawn Michaels and Brett Hart. And then you know WCW you had the the Goldberg thing and then you had nWo and then you had the Wolfpack. Like that was kind of our era. But then we turned 12 and then we we got [laughter] in we apparently got into girls and sports and you know we stopped watching wrestling that are real. >> Yeah. But apparently Jake doesn't really have a plausibility structure for working beyond that. >> To use your term we grew out of our autism. Right. >> Yeah. We we grew beyond our autism at that point. And shout out to all the people with autism. We're not hating on you, but it's just like, you know, watch watch, you know, WWE and you'll see what's next to the ring. And so, here we are. We're watching it and we're excited, right? We've got some chicken wings from Eddies. Shout out to Eddies here in Edund, Oklahoma. We've got good cigars. Uh uh as a thank you guys for helping us. Uh Jake went out and bought a bottle of Dalmore cigar malt, which shout out to that bottle. It is spectacular. So Jake and I were partaking in that and then we started watching the show >> and it was like the slowest death I've experienced in my entire life. Adam, you take over cuz I got to like gather myself to really fully describe what happened when we turned this thing on. Maybe maybe my memory is wrong, but what I remember in the '9s, in the early 2000s, like I would have said that the amount of fighting versus the amount of commentary and time on the mic and and back and backstage >> fighting was probably 70 65 70 promos, >> right? There were some promos, but it was mainly wrestling. And I will say when we watched it while they were fighting in wrestling, I was probably more intrigued than I thought I would be. I was like, "Okay, I could see how this is entertaining and not sure that I'm going to watch this every Saturday." But dude, it was like 80% monologue, non-stop monologue on the microphone, staring each other down on stage, talking crap, and I was like, "When are they going to fight?" It literally got to the end of the night. It was like 10:15 at night and >> hey, don't don't bury the lead. We're we're getting to the end, but we need to talk about the beginning again because it was Roman Reigns. He's walking out >> and I've never I haven't seen an elderly woman walk this slow. >> That's [laughter] true. >> I guess that's part of his thing. And so he he I don't think you even call it walking. What's like between walking and not moving? >> He's shuffling down to the ring and he gets there and then he starts like doing his thing on the microphone and then oh we've got I think it was Dusty Roads. [clears throat] Not Dusty Roads. Is Dusty Roads? Anyway, Dusty Roads his son. Doesn't matter. So some guy with bleach blonde hair. His music hits, right? He comes down there walking slowly and then he gets his microphone and then he he's got a little bit of a speech impediment. He's like talking to Roman Reigns and then CM Punk's music goes off. The least athletic human being on the planet Earth that somehow thought he could be an MMA fighter in the UFC. Wasn't that a cute experiment? He comes down there shuffling his way down there. So, we're about 40 minutes into Monday Night Raw at this point and all we've done is seen three guys walk slowly and then talk to one another. >> Then we get our first match. >> No, >> don't even know. Oh, go ahead. >> Did we meet miss the John Cena walk in? Remember when John Cena walked in? >> No, he wasn't there. >> The [ __ ] >> Oh, there was a [ __ ] John Cena that that came walking in at some point. Uh oh, but no, that was later. That was with that with Eddie Guerrero. >> Oh, that was later in the show. a [ __ ] John Cena comes out. [laughter] That's when I lost interest. I was like, "What is happening?" >> So, it's a [ __ ] that looks like John Cena. >> I mean, no, it's a [ __ ] that was dressed up like John Cena. Not even not even close to the lookike thing, right? >> And they threw him around the ring. The poor guy. >> Yeah. They like kicked him and Yeah, >> that's right. He was making the turnbuckle. >> He got >> So, but we get we finally mercifully get to the first match. I don't know who these two guys are. It was a pretty athletic guy. And then there's like this big guy. I think he's supposed to be Russian. And normally like from our era if you're watching somebody like you had one of the greatest characters of all time in the Undertaker. You had all the lights go out and the organ and you know uh you know the choke slam and and you know all the different things. Great. You've got someone like Bret Hart, the excellence of execution, right? The best there is best there was or best there ever will be. Like super tight wrestling never hurts anybody. Great. You got Shawn Michaels, one of the best in ring performers. You got the sweet chin music, baby. You got all that stuff. You got all these amazing wrestlers. You got Stone Cold. got the breaking glass, you got the beer, you got the stunners, you got the give me a hell yeah, you got everything in there. And so I'm expecting something something redeemable to happen. And we got our first match. This is our first taste of real wrestling that we've had this night. And the big guy's move was chest slapping. >> Yep. Chest slapping his >> That is what this guy is known for. Not being the excellent excellence of execution, not for sweet chin music, not for even a Hogan leg drop. one of the lamest of all finishing moves. He will take a guy, put him up against the roses, and he'll go. And then the crowd of mostly autistic people are looking and they're like, "Look at that handprint. Look at the handprint on his chest. Oh my gosh, look how red that guy's chest is from being slapped on the chest by a grown man." >> And that was basically the highlight of that first match. >> It was It was so compelling. I I would never want to watch it again. [clears throat] >> Wow. So, I have a bone to pick with you, too. >> Oh, god. Whatever. >> Yeah. So, I remember a time when I was sitting there. You were sitting here. You were sitting here. You were sitting there, of course. >> Okay. Yeah. >> When you promised me, >> Oh, God. >> that you would take me hunting. >> Oh, no. >> Why are you not me? He's the one that promised Jake. >> Jake brings you Lord of the Rings. >> Oh. >> In WWE. >> And yet you take him out to shoot my deer. >> We have failed. >> No, don't we this. This is your deer. Your land. >> You're going to put it all on my shoulder. He pointed at me, but he meant he he meant to go like this because >> this is this is Chandler's fault. You know why it's Chandler's fault? >> It's Chandler's fault because you took Chandler's position is probably what happened cuz I was going to take you and then I was like, "Okay, I guess Matt Chandler can go." >> Well, you you know where I live. So, it sounds like a lot of blame shifting instead of >> That's all I'm trying to do. I'm trying to get away from my failure. I'm a failure. I apologize. I will be a better friend. >> As we sit here right now, >> Caleb, I'll get you on a deer this fall. >> Okay. So, as we know right now, do we know when rifle season is next year? Do we have those dates? >> It is always in in Oklahoma, archery season starts October 1st and uh rifle season starts the Saturday before >> Thanksgiving. Okay. And it goes two weeks like through >> two weeks, three weekends. So, there's three weekends of rifle. >> So, how about you go ahead and set yourself a reminder? And how about you, adult male, set yourself a reminder [laughter] to follow up with this adult male and then we will get you out there for rifle. >> So, I say it to all of my friends. I'm like I I am I am the fastest person to invite people to come out. But believe me, I am the worst game is preposterous. It's really bad. But I know, you know, some people would be like, "Oh, he invited me, but is it going to be weird for me to like proactively do it?" Kyle just freaking shows up. >> Yeah. I don't even wait till we invited. I'm like, "I'm here to refrigerator." He literally just comes and I'm like, "Oh, cool. Kyle's here." You know, but like that's fine. you know, just >> and it's because I have waited on the invitation and I've waited for him to respond and I've waited for him to confirm and I've done all that and then it's like >> he's never mad when I just show up and so I'm just going to show up and shoot an animal and you know this year shoot one in the face. >> Yes. Oh [laughter] yeah, he did. He shot one in the head and man it was brutal. It went through the head, through the chin and then and then through her back foot too through the neck and then Hey guys, if you don't want to have to track an animal, shoot it in the head. I'm just going to tell you shortest track of my life. >> I' I've shot probably 10 doese's in the neck. So the head is good but the neck is just as good. Trust it does any animal you shoot it in the neck they're done. >> Yeah. I got an elk uh in the neck. I got an elk cow in the neck and it was like >> that was an impressive shot. It was like 34 yards about a 34 yard shot and it went you were aiming for the you know uh for the heart and you hit the neck. It was pretty [laughter] impressive. Pretty impressive. You >> like that lowkey nonsense. I've never been hunting period. Period. >> Eating any kind of animal? No. Nothing. I want to kill it and clean it. >> Okay. You see, you're already taking responsibility. You're in this exact moment better than Ryan Horn, who again is not here to defend himself. So, we're going to keep bringing him up because not only did he kill an animal because Adam is very gracious out of his land. If you if it's your first time hunting or if you're bringing out a kid, if it's brown, it's down. Okay. So, for more experienced hunters, like the you know, you're not just taking something cuz it has points. You're like, you're looking for something that's mature that is considered a shooter. You continue to learn that over time and learning how to identify. But yeah, as we've told the story before, Ryan Well, first of all, he shot a coyote. >> Yep. >> And he he killed a coyote before I did, which was like one of those things. [clears throat] But then Matt Conway was with him and he's like, "Hey, we got to, you know, we're going to get that out of the way, but we'll we'll come back and still hunt deer." >> And Ryan's basically weeping as he's carrying [laughter] this this coyote out. You you've never heard this? >> I've not heard. >> Well, he's never been around a dead animal before. And and it's something that he took its life. So, I mean, it is it's kind of emotional if you're not used to it. So he doesn't he's like it kind of looks like >> you were going to tell me he was throwing up. >> Well, we're getting there. That's [laughter] kind of we are getting there. Uh it's a slowburn story. And so here he is. Ryan's basically sniffling on his way back to the blind because he killed something that is somewhat akin to a dog. But anyway, by the way, for every coyote you kill, you know, you save about 20 or 30 fawns a year per coyote. That's how many fawns they eat like while they're still alive. So don't feel bad for those mang pieces of garbage. And so he gets back up there and wouldn't you know it, a spike comes out. He checks with Adam. Adam's like, "Yep, first time. If it's brown, it's down." Because I mean, depending upon how rifle season goes, that may be the last animal you see. That's just kind of the way the cookie crumbles sometimes. And so, he takes a great shot. The animal I don't think it ran far. It may have even just dropped. >> But now it gets to the time of cleaning. >> And you know, Ryan's mentioned before to to all of us. He's like, "Ah, yeah, you know, I kind of have a weak stomach and especially after I eat." >> Well, apparently he decided to eat like a Brazilian buffet's worth of food that morning. And so I don't know if that was to have an excuse, but as as he goes to start cutting the animal open, he's and he's going off and Matt Conway, who is about the most even kill dude ever. At this point, he's just got to be like, "What in the world is going on [laughter] over here?" And so what ended up happening is at one point, uh, Ryan is >> dry heaving and throwing up so much that Matt just goes, "Hey man, I will take care of this. Like, I will go ahead and skin the rest of this animal for you." Wow. >> And but the funny thing about it is since that time and since we've all kind of ribbed him a little bit, he swears he's going to come out and hunt again >> and he's going to clean the animal. The thing is is I honestly don't know how he could. We've only almost made him throw up at this table outside like cuz I forget what we were talking about on the back porch, but I brought up something. I think like one of the boys had like diarrhea or maybe I [laughter] was talking about when I had diarrhea and he he literally did that. He goes, "No, no, no, no, no." And I'm like, "What do you mean no no?" And then of course I'm not gonna stop now. Uh and so and then so I just kind of keep ramping up the story and he get he puts a cigar down, gets up and throws up in the yard. >> I remember I was there. >> Yeah. And so like he come So I don't know how he's going to get through cleaning an animal. >> That's a that's a tough one especially for the first time. I mean >> so this is the one soap box I do want to get on. I know there's probably a lot of hunters that watch this show and I'm just as hardcore as you are and wanting to kill big deer and let small deer go. Two-year-olds, three-y olds, foury olds. Man, there's there's been a bad movement to want to kill really big mature deer to the detriment of getting hunters out there in the field. And so, man, if you have a new hunter in the field, you have a kid in the field, take those restrictions off and let them shoot whatever the heck walks out cuz I've got so many guys who've come out to my place and their kids that have just shot whatever came out and they it it was they were over the moon and that means more to me than being able to kill a gigantic deer. And does it affect my dear? It maybe it does. It probably does cuz we have a lot of button bucks that get killed and spikes and other >> button bucks. >> Button bucks. Yeah. That get killed. I don't know who would kill a button buck. >> Not me. >> No. >> It was the first animal I killed on his land was a button buck. But [laughter] I don't even know what I don't know what that means. A button buck means it's a fawn that um his antlers are so small for the most part they're usually covered by and you can't tell. I've killed them before. Everybody does. Anyway, stop all of this ridiculousness where you're trying to grow these big bucks and not let people come shoot because then everyone's tense and and nervous and worried about having fun. It's about having fun and getting out to getting out there and killing a deer. So, stop that crap. >> Well, yeah, I would agree with that. And I would say even for me because [clears throat] I've shot button bucks before because I've made mistakes and I've been very open on the show talking about the mistakes that I've made and like look I'm trying to make a bunch of mistakes as a 30 almost 40year-old man so that whenever I'm teaching James and Eli and also like when I start bringing James and Eli out to Adam's land or something like that, guess who I'm going to default to? >> The experienced hunter that's hunted approximately 11 billion times more than I have to be like, "Hey, you know, dad doesn't know everything. and dad leans on other people, but we need to come all the way back to put a bow on that WWE story because there were other matches and Rey Mysterio, who's 65 years old, he had a match and he looked spectacular to be honest. He looked great. >> The most entertaining part of the show, >> but by the time and also that we're watching this um there's uh on the streaming platform we were using um there's ads there's ad breaks that you can't skip through. You can't get a premium subscription to skip through. And we're talking in the middle of matches, we go to 2 and 1/2 minutes worth of >> No ads. And >> wasn't it like 8 minutes or seven? >> No, it wasn't that it wasn't that bad. >> Ads 3 minutes. >> It was like eight in two or three minutes. But imagine being in the middle of a match and let's say you're actually enjoying yourself, which we were not. Um, but we're just trying to get to the end of this uh experience and it's just ad after ad after ad. But then we get to the main event. It's a tag team match. It was like some Scottish dude and uh was it uh Logan Paul and then it was they were going against two other guys. I can't even remember. And we literally like I I mean I'm getting tired like I think I had to drive back out to the land that night and it had already been a long day and I'm just sitting there like what is happening? And Adam goes uh okay well I got to go back to the house and take care of the girls. And I was like yeah whatever. I don't even care who wins this match. this is the main event and I care so little that all I want to do is get out of this situation. Even Jake was kind of like, >> "Yeah, that's kind of bad." >> So, the last time I talked to Jake, I think he's uh after that experience, he's less interested. >> He's off the WWE. >> He's off the WWE. But >> hey, I don't blame him one bit cuz he should be off. >> 30 years late, but whatever. Yeah. But he he needs a last harrah, though. I think he needs to go to WrestleMania. He needs to kind of experience like a big old pay-per-view Wrestlemania and then be like, "Okay, now I'm going to be an adult." Uh, now that I'm in my 40s, I think it's time for me to be an adult. >> You could go to John Cena's last wrestle, which is coming up, right? >> I think it's already over. I think that guy's actually already retired. >> Well, the midget's still there. So, he he could go watch the actually. So, uh, the [ __ ] I don't think he's made another appearance. I think that's how bad they dealt with the the [ __ ] John Chana. There you go. There's a deep cut for people that are actually WWE fans. But hey, before we get back into Romans 4, just want to remind you guys, uh, a couple weeks ago, we announced this and we talked about it last week, but we were working with Logos, the best Bible software on planet Earth, and we have an Undaunted Life study bundle just for you guys. So, what they've done is they put together a bundle where you can literally get all of those resources. And I'll talk more about them here in a second for $349.99. So last week we uh so over the last couple weeks we've made it from Romans 4:1 through Romans 4:3. And so today we're going to look at a pretty decent chunk and kind of see how it goes. We're going to go from uh 4:4 through 48. So Caleb, unless it's been missing in your Bible since last time, just Genesis and Exodus. >> You didn't roll that one. We got Romans. So, uh, what version is it? >> Uh, NASBY. >> All right. NASBY. We're going to read from NASBY. Romans 4:4 through48. Got it. Hang on. Hang on. All right. [clears throat] Now, to the one who works, his wage is not credited as a favor, but as what is due. But to the one who does not work, but believes in him who justifies the un ungodly, his faith is credited as righteousness. Just as David also speaks of the blessing on the man to whom God credits righteousness apart from works, blessed are those whose lawless deeds have been forgiven and whose sins have been covered, blessed is the man whose sin the Lord will not take into account. >> Y'all go ahead. I got too much peanut butter in [laughter] my mouth. >> I mean, my my mind went so many different directions, but I got to be really honest. Like my initial part was like what what the heck? Like angry with this. I don't like this. Because when I read this, it says, wait a minute, now to the uh to the one not now, let's go start on verse 5. And to the one who does not work, >> but believes in him, okay, what does that mean? Who does not work? Okay, we're talking about um the works like the fruit of the spirit, the things that are in you, doing good things, you know, following the law necessarily or like being a good person, not being a slappy and doing all of the things that are of the world, right? So into the one who does not work but believes in him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is counted as righteousness. It's like, wait a minute, I feel like I'm a pretty good person. I'm a pretty good guy. I do good things. And so this slappy over I'm pointing to you. This slappy over here can be a complete idiot and do all these ridiculous things. >> Just believe. But just believe that like I was p I wrote what question mark exclamation point question mark. >> That means I'm not happy about this. Right? At least that was my initial point. It's like how is this fair? >> This does not seem right. That's where my mind went to to begin with. And then I went to I'm an idiot. Total depravity, right? It's like, okay, well, yeah, I think I'm good. I feel like I'm a good person. I think I do all this, but in reality, I'm completely and totally worthless. I sin all every day, non-stop. I can't stop sinning. >> I keep going through periods of time where I think I'm doing things right. I think I'm on the right path, but you know what? I'm I come right back to it. I think I'm doing good. Nope, not anymore. So, even though I see this and I initially want to be like, that does not seem fair to me that somebody can go live in the world and be of the world and do all of these things and still be righteous where I feel like I'm on the right side of thing. I'm I'm really still no different. Does that make sense? >> Sure. >> Yeah. Well, I think it's interesting how Paul shifts, you know, he starts out with this is Abraham as the example. Now he's he's making that shift to a wider he's looking at all of us as all humanity, right? Not just using Abraham as an example. Now it's to all of us, right? And so that piece of we all based on our effort, you know, are going to fall short. And so I think that's taking that that mind off of Abraham now to us as a larger group um in that context. >> And again, you have Go ahead. >> One thing that this reminded me of is like, you know, familiar [clears throat] with uh you know, an alcoholic, if an alcoholic is is [snorts] truly an alcoholic and they're in denial, one of the things that they're commonly going to say is like, well, I'm not as bad as that guy. It's like, [laughter] you know, yeah, you know, maybe I have a problem. I get, you know, a little hammered every now and then. I sort of do this. I sort of do that, but you know, I'm not, you know, pounding the vodka bottle every single day and you're justifying it in your head. This sort of feels similar into where my mind went to to begin with because my mind initially went to like, well, my sin's not as bad as those guys, so why is this this isn't fair. >> Well, I think as well he's he's quoting he's talking about David. >> So, the reference in 7 and 8 is Psalm 32:es 1 and two. So, I'll go ahead and read that. Blessed is the one whose transgressions or whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered. Blessed is the man against whom the Lord counts no iniquity and in whose spirit there is no deceit. I I'm actually going to read that again because it's so pregnant with meaning, especially when we get into the context again. Psalm 32:es 1 and 2. And little sidebar, uh it's not Psalms 32, okay? I'm reading from Psalm 32. So, I've heard pastors, it's like you went to Bible college and you're like, turn in your Bible to Psalms 32:1 and 2, it's like, no, it's just Psalm. Just Psalm, just Psalm. That's all it is. So, from Psalm 32:es 1 and 2, blessed is the one whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered. Blessed is the man against whom the Lord counts no iniquity, and in whose spirit there is no deceit. >> Do you know what took place before David wrote this? >> Basheba. Basheba and the murder of Uriah. >> Yep. >> That was before these words were written. >> Yep. >> So if we look at it in the context of Paul's argument using Abraham, right? David had the law. He did not yet have the Christ. The Christ was going to come through his line though, >> right? We have that from before him because he's coming from the line of Judah of which David is a member, of which Joseph was a member. So Jesus was a member, right? That's why he's the lion of the tribe of Judah. Okay? >> And so I think that that's so interesting here >> because you're seeing Paul build his argument again, you know, word for word the theological dense nature of Romans can be overwhelming. But again, if you're reading it all at once, he's building his argument of grace through faith, right? And where this comes from and who it's for, the elect, as we will get to. But yeah, I mean bringing David into this discussion, it's like imagine a Jewish audience and in the last 30 seconds of somebody reading this out loud, he has brought up father Abraham and King David and and to carry on the David story even further. So David's on the mountain and then he has Ba Sheba and he gets brought down and then immediately after that uh then he has problems with his his kids, right? and he he has to fight that for his sin for the rest of his life, constantly dealing with problems related to his kids. But yet here he is saying, "Blessed is the man against whom the Lord will not count his sin." Well, his sins were pretty egregious. I mean, after God's own heart right? >> I think it just goes back to that idea that it's like if if in all of our efforts, in all of our doing the right things, like it goes back to we can boast, right? But it's like we have no ability on our own no ability on our own to earn that salvation. It's it is truly it's just a God would owe us salvation, right? Like at what point >> on any of the any of these things we're doing is it's like, okay, God owes that to us now. I mean, I was talking with some guys this morning. It's like I think we as Christians so many times we feel like, [clears throat] man, if I I get up this morning, I'm going to do my Bible study. I'm going to go to church on Sunday. You know, I I feel like I'm in line with the things I need to be doing or I've talked to somebody at work about it. But it's just like we easily get into that mindset of like, hey, I did the things I needed to, right? And so now I feel justified or where I am. So you it's easy to slip into that like well now I'm I'm owed this right well no it's all of that is rubb somebody said it maybe it was last week it's it's worthless even at our best >> it makes it's it's weird it's like human nature the same way what you were just saying it was no different than my mind going to this being unfair like >> it's clearly not but that's where my mind goes to first like I deserve nothing I deserve nothing but you know bad things because of my sin that's not what I get >> when I think That's what's so cool. It's like David sees that, >> right? David walked with God or didn't walk with God, but God David had such a great relationship with the Lord and he had such a love, but >> he even knows how how short he falls of it right? >> I think what's cool about this, too, is that we So, if if our justification, us being called righteous is based on faith, then we can be sure of it, right? But if it's based on works, we can't. You know, that's why like every other religion, I think it was MacArthur, we've talked about it. Every other religion is based on some some form of works, right? Whether it's Islam or um you know, cults, even um all sorts of things. Even just just uh >> kind of offtrack Christian religions, right? It's all based on works. But we can be sure of this. I came across some debates that were like 30 plus years old. I don't even know who it was, but um it was some Protestants and Christians that were debating, right? and they uh referring to to this verse to these verses said who is the blessed man you know and the and the Catholics are like well I hope I am you know I I don't know >> so I just think it's a good good question to answer because we know we can be assured that the blessed man is is us >> yeah the the assurance of salvation issue comes into play for sure >> yep and back to the discussion we had a couple weeks ago about James this and this is Sproul talking again it says James is addressing this question quote if I say I have faith but I have no works will that faith save me." End quote. Nobody has ever been saved by a profession of faith. We were not saved by raising our hand in an evangel evangelistic meeting or walking down the aisle. The possession of faith justifies us, not the profession of it. >> When I've thought about this before, because I've asked the question to people to where it's like, okay, you'll see churches that will have the number of salvations for the year in their annual report. >> Yeah. And that always I remember the first annual report I was reading of a church where it had number of salvations and it was a very exact number like you know 842 or something like that and I didn't talk to anyone about I was like that's that's strange like that's why would they count that and then you know then you had people that would raise their hand and there would be no life change whatsoever. Uh this is different than like when a sweet seven-year-old girl um you know accepts Christ or you know professes Christ you know Adowana or vacation Bible school or something like that. It wasn't like she was doing blacktar heroin uh before and then all of a sudden here she is clean and sober like getting baptized. And so with kids it's a little bit different but usually with adults there is a sin nature and depravity that is evident that is changed post a real saving faith in Christ. But then you see these people that got whipped up by the concert and the TED talk and then they raised their hand and it's like no they they they they're not a Christian. They just raised their hand. Now you know Joby and I have talked about this and he's talked about this on the show. What his church does is they count any proession of faith. If someone's making a indication in the direction of Christ, they're going to count it. But their church is serious about disciplehip. Mhm. >> And so it's not like great, you raise your hand, keep coming back for the milk every week. We'll make sure there's warm, you know, coffee and good cookies. >> Um, and so that that becomes the difference to where it's like, okay, >> are you going to go through the disciplehip journey? >> Are you going to go on the sanctification ride if you don't have a ticket to the amusement park? Probably not. >> Yeah. >> And so I think that that's an important thing as we discuss this as well. Go ahead. Well, kind of going on with what you're talking about with Joby. I'm I'm reading his book, Standing Stand Firm and Act Like Men Right now. And one of the things he talked about is with our kids, he says, "Do we love our kids based on their efforts or for the fact that they're ours?" And he goes on later in the chapter and says, "The verdict comes before the performance." Right? And for us as Christians, the verdict is we're his now. Right now, the performance can come, but it's not the performance and then we're accepted into it. >> And so, I think that for me, it's just like we're his. Well, and Howard, that that that goes back to verse three. So, Romans 4:3, for what does the scriptures say? >> Abraham believed God and it was counted to him as righteousness. So, let's look at the word counted. Some translations say imputed. >> Mhm. >> So, what does that mean? Because when you say counted, it's like, oh, well, you know, there's then a counting of some kind that that this is a reality that has happened, right? >> Okay, but it was imputed. What does that mean? Oh, that means it was a one-way transaction right? >> This gets us back into reformed theology, Calvinism, those types of things. >> But wait a minute. So, irresistible grace, as was brought up a couple of weeks ago, >> it was imputed to them. >> It was not refusable, right? Because when there's a one-way transaction, the other party like there there is no refusal. There's not a lane for it. Mhm. >> And so I think that's important to the discussion as well about okay, where did these things and these thoughts come from? >> I've I feel Kyle, I've always had I don't know just a check in in seeing those numbers and that's always felt weird to me like I don't know if it's a boasting type thing that feels strange. And I I think I would clarify that I don't think because I feel the same way you do, but just [clears throat] to walk it back a little bit. We're not trying to be judgmental of whether or not those are legit. They might they might be and very hope that they are and we hope and we hope that they are to be to be perfectly clear like they they they they very well might be hope that they are. It would be great if they would. Um but it seems like a strange thing to put up on the wall and I love what you how you tied it into Joby because there there are churches I think that like to put it on the wall that don't have that disciplehip mission at all. And so it's like if you're going to just count it Yeah. If you're just going to count it and you're going to put it on there, it feels like you're making yourself feel better because there's got to be a purpose. It's like, yes, we got them. >> Now, let's disciple them. And if the disciplehip's not there, it's like, what the point? What is the point of just making the number bigger? >> It feels like it's to make me feel better. >> Well, and as the body of Christ, what should the hope be for the person that raises their hand during a service or at an event or something like that? The hope is that it is legitimate. Mhm. >> Yeah. >> And if it is legitimate now, that requires something from us as members of the body >> because the disciplehip process starts right then. The sanctification process, which I had some guy online, it's like sanctification is a person. It's not a process. It's like no, it literally means the progressive work of God in your life over time. So, it's literally a process. >> Um, but like the sanctification process starts right then. Mhm. >> And so for us as believers with more years and hours of being a Christian, it is our job now to help that person, >> maybe to point out some sin, maybe to help them with initial Bible study and understanding and those types of things to help bring them along, right? Yep. >> Um and I I think that that's obviously incredibly important. Um, one thing that uh came up as we're talking about the Psalms and and talking about David is here recently I've I've kind of had a bunch of different guys come up to me that have really struggled with prayer. >> Mhm. >> Like these are mature Christians that are like, "Man, I'm struggling with prayer." And you know, I'm not a fan of the struggle language cuz you know cuz if you have struggled in that area, that means that you would have victory cuz victory takes struggle whether that's spiritually, mentally, or physically speaking. [clears throat] >> But you know, I just kind of ignore that. I go, "Okay, struggle with prayer. Tell me more about that. What does that mean? >> Well, you know, and it's some form of well, I get distracted when I'm praying and you know, I sometimes when I pray out loud, you know, I just it doesn't feel right and I'm trying to pray over my wife and kids and you know, there's something there. And I'm like ignoring the obvious that you know, you're being attacked like Satan's all over you trying to tell you that it's weird and trying to tell you that you don't need to do it and trying to tell you that ah we can just put it off to tomorrow. One thing that I've done that kind of just came to me. I think the Holy Spirit kind of re revealed it to me while I was in the middle of a coaching call with a guy. I said, "Dude, you can open your Bible, not your Bible, Caleb, but you can open a normal Bible like and just go to the first half of the Bible and just go and stop and you're probably going to land in a psalm, >> right? Or the book of Psalms, [laughter] >> because those are two different things, right?" Yeah. So, you can you're going to land in an individual psalm. And you think about, let's say you landed in Psalm 32. This God just guttural, like I can't believe what I was and I can't believe what you've done for me in spite of that. And then I just tell these guys, stand there and read that out loud. >> Right? Or if you're in the truck, play it and repeat it back. Right? >> Play it for 5 seconds, pause, say it. Play it for five more seconds, pause, say it. And just say it out loud. It's like you want to talk about prayer >> like and we go back to something like that because >> again this idea that the Christian walk is supposed to be roses and nice because like when have you ever heard of a of someone in the Bible like can you think of somebody who had a calling from God and the calling that they were being called to was an easier path than the one that they were already on? >> Yeah, that's no >> but we we get that idea in modernity though, >> right? I think I think most men would say it's easier for them to study and read than it is to pray or worship, right? Um and I think that I mean one thing that I've started doing a few years ago was when I because it was the same way I'd always get distracted when I pray is you're not going to get distracted for sure if you're writing them down. >> You know, you [clears throat] don't you don't lose your train of thought if you're writing. Y right. >> So that's been super helpful to me. Um, but I think that's pretty common, you know, among men at least is that it it seems a little seems a little weird to kind of like who am I talking to? I mean, I know as a new believer, you know, when I was in college is that it's I felt like I was talking to the wall, you know, it's what am I doing? Getting distracted, all that stuff. >> Well, Caleb, that actually might be helpful as we we wind this week to a close uh for you guys to kind of give your experience with prayer. And obviously, we're very open and honest on the forging table. And I know we'd [clears throat] love to give each other a hard time and, you know, bringing Ryan and Jacob and all that, guys. You know, it's because we love them, right? Like looking directly at my camera. You know, it's cuz we love those guys, right? You know, some of the best comments I've got is when we've gotten in dust, right? So, you know, Adam and Ryan were in a pretty good dust up a year or two ago as it pertained to Calvinism and Armenianism, and it was one of the most talked about forging table episodes ever because people were like, you could tell that both of you all disagreed, but that you loved each other, right? And that where it ended was in a loving place and all those types of things. So we we like to rib, we like to needle and all those different things, but it's because of love. But you know, for for you in your prayer, if you were to be honest, what things have been helpful for you? What have been some of your struggles? And that's that's how we're wrapped this week. >> I I have always said that I can feel I feel more confident in my prayer life when the more times I can get my freaking butt out of bed >> and get to the scripture right after my shower. I take I take a shower, get to the scripture and read for 20 or 30 minutes before I start the day. And maybe that sounds cliche, maybe it seems old school or whatever. And I would, to be blunt, I bet my accuracy on that is I try to do it every day. And I bet it's two to three times a week, may maybe. And then there's times when I go completely silent. I don't do it for days or weeks or weeks on end. But when I do that, when I start my day off reading scripture or reading reading other um commentary, it makes a drastic difference in anything and everything and including my prayer life because I feel a better connection. I feel like for whatever reason, uh you know, the Holy Spirit is speaking to me and it's not just my words that are coming out, but the Holy Spirit's words that are coming out. And it's just the more that you're in scripture, the easier it is to pray. >> 100%. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, I agree completely. Uh for me, it's uh the actual physical act of getting on my knees. >> Um like in the morning, that's that's something I'll do certainly if I'm praying over the boys, you know, as they're going to sleep. >> Um but actually being on my knees is has been impactful. >> No doubt. But I couldn't agree more. The more I'm in the word, the more rich my prayer is. For sure. >> Man, I I I would be um a little vulnerable and say I've never done that in my life. Never once. And that that's interesting. And I probably I mean that makes sense. I wonder how I would feel if I did that. Actually got on my knees to pray. Never done it. >> Yeah. I guess I'd say for me I've tried to be more intentional of making small prayers. So I take the boys to basketball practice every morning. And so we get in the car, we get rolling, and I just say, "Thank you, Lord, for this morning. Thank you, Lord." I mean, like we have a beautiful sunrise coming up, and it's just being thankful for those little things and just plugging it in at times. Or, "Hey, we're getting in the car ride to go somewhere. Lord, watch over us as we go today. May our actions, may our words and stuff, you know, I I had a good uncle that that did that and it was impactful to me. I'm like, we don't always have to make it this >> Yeah. >> wellthoughtout thing and it's just let's just acknowledge him where we are right now. And then the other thing I would say is uh I recently did it and I've prayed with Sarah before at times but again I'm reading Joby's book, but the second chapter he says doing the stuff. And I felt convicted that week. We were doing some things with our family about, you know, missions for our family. What is our mission, our values, and things like that. And so reading that book, he said, "Go pray with your wife." And so the boys and I were getting ready for a camping trip. And I felt this needed like I just need to go pray with her, right? it doesn't need to be. But we we both cried and you know it was a beautiful thing but it's just like one of those things of being vulnerable at that point where >> who knows what he's got planned for it but being obedient to do it at times. >> Are you guys familiar with the Dwell app? >> Yeah. So, uh, I recently saw Chandler talking about it, um, quite a bit and I I downloaded it literally just yesterday because I guess it's it's scripture, but you can pick a different voice and the different it reads it to you and you put that music to the background of it. Have you guys Have you guys messed with it at all? Um, Kelsey has. Do you guys do you guys like it? >> It's been a couple years since I've used it, but yeah. >> Okay. Well, I'm thinking about looking into it and seeing seeing what that is because I I definitely see same thing if I'll if I'm reading a commentary, I'll I'll do a lot of commentaries in my in my truck as I'm driving and just set that on repeat. Don't listen to music. I think the Dwell app might be something I look into. >> Right. When I'll say for me, some of the most >> excuse me, uh some of the most potent times in my life of prayer was just driving in the truck acting like Jesus was in the passenger seat. And so that's not to say that you don't have to be reverent in prayer, that kneeling isn't a good idea or, you know, doing it in a corporate setting. Corporately meaning like the the body of Christ, not necessarily your office. Um that those have been times where it's like, okay, you're kind of talking through things and but you're just doing it out loud. like >> um I don't like I'm not like a long-winded prayer, but the a couple of things that I've done is like when I feel that twinge of um like thankfulness, I will just Man, God, thank you for that. Like I was walking to my truck the other day and I'm like, man, I have a truck. That's cool. If I was born like 500 years ago, I wouldn't have a truck. Like that's cool. Hey, if you know things had not worked out uh from a business standpoint or whatever, like I I wouldn't be able to afford a vehicle like that. that's safe and also awesome and like it's just like oh man what a cool truck. Um and so I'll [clears throat] just give that you know just a quick prayer like as as I'm walking like as you know you get that twinge of thankfulness. Um and it just kind of goes to humility. >> Um asking servers whenever they drop your your food in front of you and they say you know what else can I get you? And everyone in Oklahoma says ranch but I say um hey we're about to bless our meal. How can we be praying for you? >> It's not hey can we pray for you? because their default answer will be no. It's just like when you're in a department store and someone asks you, can I help you? And you definitely need help. What do you always say? No, I'm good. Just looking around. No, you need help. You need their help. You need them to point you to the dress socks, but you just won't do it. >> And to carry that even further, not to derail you, but because this is important, like I've seen you do that so many times. And then and then the next thing that I've felt convicted not only in doing that, but something I also saw you do, which is what Phil Robertson recommended, is carry around your freaking Bible. Yeah. >> And just have it there. And it feels uncomfortable to me because I'm afraid that someone's going to challenge me on something or say something that I'm not going to know the answer to. I'm like, "Oh, you got your stupid Bible there and you don't know the answer." You know, >> is that's where my mind goes to be vulnerable about it. But it's like I need to carry that thing around because maybe whether I say that or not, someone sees me carrying it or somebody sees it there, >> who knows what opportunity is going to come up. >> Yeah. [snorts] >> Yeah. Yeah. And I think that that's very important because, you know, the answers to that question have been everything from, "No, I'm good." In a quick scurrying away to, you know, as I've talked about on the show a lot, where people are like, "Man, yeah, I'm getting over addiction." Or, "Hey, you know, my grandma's really sick." Or, "Hey, my neighbor just died." Or, "Hey, whatever. I'm kind of confused about this." And then I always follow it up as long as they don't just scurry away. I say, "Hey, I'm not a long- winded prayer. Do you want to hang out while I pray through this?" And sometimes, like, you know, we'll like we'll hold hands. like we'll literally like grab the server, guy or gal. We'll grab her hands and I mean and I I'll pray for 15 seconds. It's super quick. Yeah. I'll I'll basically repeat back what what they said and I'll add a few other things and then I'll go on. >> And I've never got to the end of that. You know, it's never like, "All right, we're done praying." We open our eyes and we look back at the sermon and they go, "Well, that was freaking weird." And then they just leave. That's never happened. It's never happened. And just think about the the impression that can leave on somebody cuz I would assume I hope not, but I know better. I would assume that they're not going to get that question again that day. >> Hey, how can I be praying for you? Right. That they're probably not going to grab hands with with people and then pray. And the last one is not just praying for my wife and children, but praying over them. >> There's a difference, Howard, between praying for your wife, the lovely lady wickers, uh, and praying with her, holding her hands. Uh, and Joby has this great modality cuz men are kind of dense sometimes. And it's like, fellas, go up to your bride, look her in the eye, grab her hands, and say, "Honey, how can I be praying for you?" And she's going to say words. And then what you do when she's done is you say, "Let's pray." You close your eyes, you repeat those words, and then you say, "Amen." And then her response should be something along the lines of Hercules, Hercules, right? you know, which that's the modality, which which again, >> you know, some guys out there are having really big problems in their marriage. And maybe you've never >> asked to sit there and pray with your wife, but I mean, divorce rates for families that go to church and pray together and read the Bible together. Yikes. It's I mean, it's almost a non-existent thing. It's it's within the standard deviation. That's how low the percentage is, right? So, I think that that's very important to talk about prayer. But guys, we're going to leave our discussion there. We went through Romans 4:8. We'll come back next week. We'll start with Romans 4:9.
