This is Undaunted Life A Man's Podcast.
0:53
I'm your host Kyle Thompson, let's get into it.
0:56
Welcome back to the Forging Table.
1:01
If you're wondering, we are now counting down from 100 somehow.
1:05
You know why?
1:06
Because I forgot to remind people last week that we need an hour glass here on this.
1:10
So, land in, leave it in while you try to figure out how that goes.
1:13
I'm going to get through my whole intro before I even try to help you.
1:15
But the mission of Undaunted Life is equipping me into Pushback Darkness
1:18
with content that forges spiritual, mental, and physical resilience.
1:21
At the Forging Table, you'll see a group of regular guys
1:23
supporting spiritual resilience and we're digging into God's Word by that's how we're doing it.
1:27
Okay, and we're welcoming all of you to come along on the journey with us.
1:29
That's Russ, that's Adam and Caleb.
1:31
You figured it out, but it is on five and it is not counting up.
1:34
So, yep, and then all you do is hit it and then it's still counting down.
1:38
So, that is incredible.
1:40
We'll account back up after it gets to zero.
1:42
No, that means the timer is off.
1:43
It's because if you twist it, okay, because if you twist it up or left,
1:48
okay, now I got to reset it.
1:49
Yeah, don't get it twisted, t-shirt idea, or are you going with a new t-shirt idea?
1:54
Do you want to explain your t-shirt idea from last week?
1:56
No.
1:57
No, okay.
1:58
I still know.
1:59
So, let's nobody touch that.
2:00
Off it.
2:01
But today, we're actually going to go over what we were supposed to go over,
2:05
even though last week we were on the internet movie database for 20 minutes,
2:08
because I didn't know we were also doing chapter 39.
2:11
So, we're going to avoid that.
2:12
We're getting right into Genesis chapter 40.
2:15
So, Caleb, you are up.
2:17
Let's just go ahead and read the first, let's just read Genesis 40.
2:21
Okay.
2:22
Sometime after this, the cup bearer of the king of Egypt and his baker
2:27
committed an offense against their lord, the king of Egypt.
2:30
And Pharaoh was angry with his two officers, the chief cup bearer and the chief baker.
2:34
And he put them in custody in the house of the captain of the guard
2:38
in the prison where Joseph was confined.
2:40
The captain of the guard appointed Joseph to be with them and he attended them.
2:43
They continued for some time in custody.
2:45
And one night they both dreamed the cup bearer and the baker of the king of Egypt,
2:49
who were confined in the prison, each his own dream, and each dream with its own interpretation.
2:54
When Joseph came to them in the morning, he saw that they were troubled.
2:57
So, he asked Pharaoh's officers who were with him in custody in his master's house.
3:00
Why are your faces downcast today?
3:02
They said to him, "We've had dreams and there's no one to interpret them."
3:06
And Joseph said to them, "Do not interpretations belong to God.
3:09
Please tell them to me."
3:10
So, the chief cup bearer told his dream to Joseph and said to him,
3:13
"In my dream there was a vine before me and on the vine there were three branches.
3:18
As soon as it butted, it blossoms shot forth and the clusters ripened into grapes.
3:23
Pharaoh's cup was in my hand and I took the grapes and pressed them into Pharaoh's cup
3:27
and placed the cup in Pharaoh's hand.
3:29
Then Joseph said to him, "This is its interpretation.
3:32
The three branches are three days.
3:34
In three days, Pharaoh will lift up your head and restore you to your office
3:37
and you shall place Pharaoh's cup in his hand as formerly when you were his cup bearer.
3:42
Only remember me when it is well with you and please do me the kindness to mention me to Pharaoh
3:46
and so get me out of this house.
3:48
For I was indeed stolen out of the land of Hebrews and here also I have done nothing
3:53
that they should put me into the pit."
3:54
When the chief baker saw that the interpretation was favorable, he said to Joseph,
4:00
"I also had a dream.
4:02
There were three cake baskets on my head and in the uppermost basket there were all sorts
4:06
of baked food for Pharaoh but the birds were eating it out of the basket on my head."
4:12
And Joseph answered and said, "This is its interpretation.
4:15
The three baskets are three days.
4:16
In three days, Pharaoh will lift up your head from you and hang you on a tree
4:20
and the birds will eat the flesh from you.
4:23
On the third day, which was Pharaoh's birthday, he made a feast for all his servants
4:27
and lifted up the head of the chief cup bearer and the head of the chief baker among his servants.
4:31
He restored the chief cup bearer to his position and he placed the cup in Pharaoh's hand
4:36
but he hanged the chief baker as Joseph had interpreted to them.
4:41
Yet the chief cup bearer did not remember Joseph but forgot him."
4:43
So this is one of those sections where you kind of have to let the narrative
4:47
ride so that's why you read the entire thing.
4:49
Be all free to jump in anywhere because there was a few things that stood out to me
4:53
but obviously how rough that was to where it's like, "All right, you're going to be restored.
4:57
You however, you're going to die and the birds are going to eat you."
5:00
So tough luck, sorry about that.
5:03
But anything that stood out to you all in this section, ready, set, go.
5:05
We've talked about the son of David, is that the show?
5:08
- The house of David. - The house of David, the house of David and the chosen.
5:12
Man, I wish someone would fill in the gaps here, right?
5:15
- Or just do Joseph's life. - Yes, sure.
5:17
- Like the whole thing. - It's so good.
5:19
- Is there anything that only gets better than that?
5:21
Joseph, not that I know.
5:22
- It's got to be on their radar.
5:23
- It's so incredible.
5:25
- I don't like there as a cartoon.
5:27
- About Joseph. - Badgy Tails did it.
5:29
- Yeah.
5:30
- But like another joke, is that because you didn't hold the laugh in.
5:34
- I just said, I feel like there is a cartoon
5:37
and then I realized that from last week I brought up days of our lives and all that stuff.
5:42
And so I just stopped there.
5:44
- I haven't made a repent.
5:46
We need that dunce chair.
5:47
- I haven't told you this, but I am an expert at casting actors for like potential movies.
5:53
The perfect actor for the bread, the chief baker is Will Ferrell.
5:59
Imagine his face in '16 when he's like, "Oh, okay, this is good.
6:03
This is great."
6:04
- What about my dream?
6:05
What about my dream? It's like, "Oh, your head's going to get chopped off."
6:07
- I had baskets.
6:08
I had baskets of mine.
6:09
This is going to be good.
6:12
- Okay, but who would be Joseph?
6:13
Because he would have to do one of those weird movies where when he was,
6:16
there would be early Joseph and then there would be older Egyptian Joseph.
6:20
And we just can't do what is it?
6:22
The Batman that we were literally just talking about,
6:24
who was horrible as Moses.
6:25
- Joseph would be the same guy that plays
6:31
on the new Star Wars show, Mandalorian.
6:34
- And/or Andor?
6:35
Oh, Mandalorian, he's good.
6:36
- Yes.
6:37
- He'd be able to build Ber.
6:38
- Yeah.
6:38
- Really?
6:40
- No, not Ber.
6:41
- No, not Ber.
6:41
- Bill Ber's in Mandalorian.
6:42
- No.
6:42
- Not Bill Ber.
6:43
- The main guy.
6:44
- He was also--
6:45
- And he's in Gladys just wearing a mask.
6:48
- Yeah, he's in Gladys.
6:49
- He's in Gladys.
6:49
- He's second Gladys.
6:50
- He's the guy in the white.
6:51
- He's in the Wonder Gladys, too.
6:52
- He gets hit by Gladys, too.
6:54
He gets hit by all the arrows at the end.
6:56
- And he's married to Maxis, and he says, "Oh, was he the guy that the mountain
7:01
like exploded his head on Game of Thrones?
7:03
Was it that guy?"
7:03
- Yes, no, no, I think it was.
7:05
- He's got like a Spanish name.
7:06
- Yeah, he was.
7:07
- Oh, I know what you're talking about.
7:09
- All right, somebody say, because the audience is screaming at us,
7:11
they're like, "No, they're going internet.
7:12
Maybe data base again, this can't be possible."
7:14
- Pedro.
7:15
- Pedro, yes, it's Pedro.
7:16
Pedro Pascal.
7:18
- Boom, Pascal, yeah.
7:19
I think you'd be great.
7:20
- So you think he would be good?
7:21
Who?
7:22
- Joseph.
7:23
- Joseph, okay.
7:24
- Yeah, what's the guy that plays, I should know this name,
7:27
but Captain America, what's his name?
7:29
- Oh, like that block of wood that people think is an actor?
7:32
- I can't stand him, something.
7:33
- Hemsworth.
7:33
- Yeah, no, Hemsworth.
7:34
- No, not Hemsworth.
7:35
Hemsworth is a--
7:36
- He's Thor.
7:37
- He's Thor.
7:37
- Oh.
7:38
- Yeah, yeah, yeah.
7:39
- What's that do, brother?
7:40
Wait, Chris Evans?
7:41
- I know, yeah.
7:41
- Chris Evans, yeah.
7:43
And the only reason I say that is because I kind of imagine
7:45
like a scrawny little dude at first, because he's the little brother
7:48
and he gets thrown in the well and everyone hates him,
7:50
and then all of a sudden he's a powerful Egyptian.
7:54
His physique clearly changes, probably.
7:56
And now he's a different--
7:57
Because he said his brothers didn't recognize him.
7:59
- And they were scared.
8:00
- And they were scared of him, right?
8:00
- He was also--
8:01
- And he spoke to him sternly and they were afraid.
8:03
So, is something changed about the way he appeared?
8:06
- Well, for one, it's the Egyptians shave their face and head
8:12
and everything.
8:12
So he has completely smoothed shaven.
8:15
And before, although he was young,
8:17
so he probably didn't have a beard back then.
8:20
But before, you know, before he shaved,
8:23
he would have had a big beard.
8:24
A Hebrew beard.
8:26
- Hebrew.
8:26
And so I just looked up top Jewish actors.
8:29
What about Adam Sandler?
8:30
- You know what I mean?
8:33
- I know.
8:33
- I feel like Adam Sandler could be like a Jude.
8:36
He could play a pretty good Jude.
8:39
- Okay.
8:39
- Jude.
8:40
- Jude.
8:41
- Jude.
8:42
- Are you looking up Jewish or Jewish?
8:44
- Jewish.
8:45
- Jewish.
8:46
- Yeah.
8:46
- So, apparently, walking Phoenix is at least part Jew.
8:51
- Oh, that'd be good.
8:52
But I'm just gonna say, give me Jake Gyllenhaal.
8:55
That dude had a run of movies a few years ago.
8:59
End of watch, night crawler, South Paul, and prisoners.
9:04
- I don't think I watched any of those.
9:06
- All four of those are bangers.
9:09
And he is spectacular and all four of them.
9:12
- I have never seen Brokeback Mountain,
9:14
but I've seen enough of the pictures of him with,
9:19
what's his name?
9:21
- Heath Ledger.
9:21
- I can't not, when I see Jake Gyllenhaal,
9:24
I can't not think about the two of them in that movie.
9:27
It's a problem for me.
9:29
- But you haven't seen it.
9:30
- No, there's anything wrong with that.
9:31
- Well, I can one up you.
9:32
- 'Cause I watched that movie alone in a dorm room.
9:35
- No, dude.
9:35
- Another guy, did you, oh, how did we just now learn this?
9:39
- That's worse than the day before.
9:40
- Pause.
9:41
- We need to pause this, and we're gonna explore this.
9:43
- So, wait.
9:44
- Yeah, I'm fine with that.
9:45
- Kyle Thompson, who went on to life.
9:46
You have seen Brokeback Mountain,
9:48
and you watched it with another man.
9:50
Just he and I, doors closed.
9:51
- With lights off?
9:52
- Probably, we didn't wanna be able to be glad on the screen.
9:55
- No, you said it was when you were in the dorm.
9:56
- We weren't in the same.
9:57
You realize in dorms, there's usually only beds.
9:59
There's no chairs.
10:00
Were you on the bed together?
10:01
- No, there was a couch.
10:02
There was a couch in this particular dorm.
10:04
Not a casting couch.
10:05
But all I can say is this was in Myrtle Hall.
10:08
So shout out to Myrtle Hall
10:10
on the University of Central Oklahoma campus,
10:11
opened in 1936, and the entire three-story building
10:15
sits on top of a condemned basement.
10:17
That's where I lived for four years.
10:18
- And so-- - Is it Matt Grassmeyer?
10:21
- He lived in the suites, man.
10:22
He lived in the suites a whole time.
10:24
- Oh, viral.
10:24
- Yeah, he's basically made up money.
10:26
- You couldn't go to the suites.
10:27
- Yeah, Matt Grassmeyer, he literally makes thousands
10:30
of dollars every year, like clockwork.
10:33
And even back then, I guess.
10:34
But it was around the time where,
10:36
I think it was right after the Oscars or whatever,
10:38
and I guess Crash won Best Movie Oscar,
10:42
and we had seen Crash.
10:43
And so, but like me, there was this group of guys,
10:46
like we would just like go to different guys' rooms
10:48
and watch whatever like the, you know,
10:50
the new thing that came out of Blockbuster.
10:51
I think there was still a Blockbuster.
10:52
And he was just like, man,
10:55
there's gotta be something to this whole
10:56
Brokeback Mountain thing.
10:57
And I was like--
10:58
- I hear the sentiment.
10:58
- Something to it, huh?
10:59
- And I was like, buddy, I don't want to watch that.
11:02
He's like, I hear the cinematography's great.
11:04
Like, let's just do this.
11:04
I mean, he only touched my leg twice.
11:06
It's just like, no, it wasn't like that.
11:08
We watched it, and I will tell you,
11:09
the cinematography was spectacular,
11:11
but it was a movie about two Homo Cowboys.
11:13
And it wasn't my favorite.
11:14
It's not even in my top billion.
11:16
- But even if you--
11:17
- I watched it.
11:18
- Yeah, even if you were interested in it,
11:19
that is still a weird setup to watch it.
11:24
- Hey, coming to my dorm room.
11:26
- Yeah.
11:27
- You know, on Friday night,
11:28
when I could've been,
11:29
I always did homework on Friday night.
11:30
That's how cool I was.
11:31
You know, all everybody else was going out
11:32
and getting wasted and all that kind of stuff.
11:34
I was like, I'm gonna study for Monday's test, y'all.
11:36
- As soon as this movie's over.
11:37
- I'll be right after Brokeback Mountain.
11:39
Right after Brokeback Mountain.
11:40
So I'm the only one at the table that has seen this movie.
11:42
- Never seen it, not a second.
11:44
- Never seen it.
11:45
- Well, we can just circle back to the fact that I think
11:47
Jake Jones should play Joseph.
11:48
- I think it'd be great.
11:49
- But I'd also imagine that Jake and/or Joseph would be
11:53
entirely homosexual the whole time I'm watching the movie.
11:57
- Okay, I mean, it's certainly possible.
11:58
- I'm still thinking about Adam Sandler's Hanukkah song.
12:00
- Yeah.
12:01
- You remember that?
12:02
- Yeah.
12:02
- You wanna sing it?
12:03
Right now, we'll get kicked off.
12:04
I mean, according to Google, like what is Drake, Jewish?
12:07
Drake might be Jewish, Harrison Ford.
12:09
He could play Old Joseph, maybe Ben Stiller, Harry Potter.
12:16
This dude, this French guy that everyone thinks is amazing.
12:18
- Oh, that's the guy that's in Dune.
12:21
- Oh, yeah.
12:21
- Yeah, which I have.
12:23
- See, he could be the young version.
12:25
He could be the young version, and then the guy that Pedro
12:28
could be the old version.
12:29
- That dude in Dune, he was excellent.
12:32
But he was also in Willy Wonka in the Chocolate Factory,
12:36
which I did see with my kids the other day.
12:38
That's really good.
12:39
- Yeah.
12:39
- Another movie that's really good.
12:40
We're just gonna keep on going.
12:41
- I guess.
12:42
- That's just how it's gonna go.
12:43
- The Greatest Showman, have you seen The Greatest Showman?
12:46
- Yeah, I'm gonna have to be broke back down.
12:48
- I'm so tired of people saying how good it was.
12:50
I'll get it was like fine.
12:51
I'm gonna watch this freaking thing.
12:52
Oh, it was good.
12:53
- Yeah, yeah.
12:54
You can't compare Greatest Showman to Brogueback Mountain, really.
12:58
- It's a musical.
12:58
It's basically a celebration of gay sex.
13:01
It's just like Brogueback Mountain.
13:02
- No, it's amazing.
13:03
- Yeah, it's awesome.
13:04
- Have you seen it?
13:05
- No.
13:06
- There is zero gay sex.
13:07
- It's a musical.
13:08
- You're missing out.
13:08
- Oh, there's plenty on sex.
13:10
- You're missing out.
13:10
- Oh gosh, it's a musical thing.
13:11
- You're missing out.
13:13
- Every time I've seen a player in musical, I just want to say,
13:14
would you just say it?
13:15
Don't sing it to me.
13:16
Just say it.
13:17
- No, this one isn't like that.
13:18
You forget that it's even a musical player watching it.
13:21
I mean, it's not like--
13:22
- Because Wolverine is in the whole thing.
13:23
- Less morale, whatever it is.
13:24
- He's like some gay circus guy, isn't he?
13:26
- No, no, he's not gay at all.
13:27
- He's not gay at all.
13:28
- Same thing.
13:28
- They're not gay.
13:28
- No, no, no.
13:29
- No gayness.
13:30
- I feel like there's a lot.
13:31
- There's maybe some transvestites, which is--
13:33
- It's true.
13:33
- That soundtrack is playing at our house, like if everybody's cleaning or something, we'll throw that on and everybody just gets into it.
13:42
- So this will not be a Lord of the Rings for you.
13:44
This will be one that you watch it and you're like, "All right, that was dope."
13:47
- I can't think of a single musical that I currently feel that way about.
13:52
- I'm trying to think of it, but that's not gonna be the first one.
13:54
- Yeah.
13:54
- So y'all think this is the musical of all musicals?
13:57
- It is, I also like--
13:59
- Let's go to it.
13:59
- I also like Toss musicals all the time.
14:01
- I don't know.
14:02
- I'm not a big musical guy, but I've always had a thing for West Side Story.
14:05
Now, when you watch it and you realize at the end that it's a tragedy and you get to the end
14:08
and you feel terrible inside and you're like, "Oh, that's why I don't like watching tragedies,"
14:12
I remember, but I still like that movie.
14:14
- Sound of music is gonna be on that list, for sure.
14:17
- So, Julie Andrews, right?
14:19
- Number one, according to Ron Tomatoes, is singing in the rain.
14:22
Yeah, you--
14:24
- Sing it.
14:24
- Hamilton's, okay.
14:26
- Hamilton.
14:27
- Have you watched Hamilton?
14:28
- I have not.
14:28
- That's awesome.
14:30
- It's good, yeah.
14:31
- So, have you all watched Wizard of Oz?
14:33
- Yes.
14:33
- Okay, I watched that movie every single day when I was four or five years old.
14:38
We just took the VHS with it wherever house we went to and I watched it every single day.
14:42
And I would like, jump up and like the line and I would just do all the things.
14:46
So, I guess like as a kid, like I wasn't really--
14:49
Oh, and technically, walk the line as a musical.
14:51
It's put in the musical category.
14:54
- Oh, that's with--
14:55
- Walking Phoenix.
14:57
- Walking.
14:57
- Johnny Cash moved.
14:58
- Johnny Cash moved.
14:59
- Yeah, I don't think I've heard of just about any of these Mary Poppins, right?
15:02
I could get down with some Mary Poppins.
15:04
- The scene from Walk the Line when he does Folsom Prison Blues and he's in the prison
15:08
and they're all beating the table or beating the floor, man, that's good.
15:11
- I mean, I love that movie.
15:13
That was when I was right in, you know, American recordings were coming out
15:16
and those were the stuff that Johnny Cash recorded right before he died.
15:19
And then that comes out.
15:21
And then I'm glad I saw an interview of Walking Phoenix before he did his performance
15:25
because he said, "I'm not trying to be a Johnny Cash like a personator.
15:29
I'm trying to sing and I'm trying to embody the story of Johnny Cash
15:34
and his rough upbringing and the fact that his dad basically told him,
15:37
you know, the wrong son died, like your older brother was the good one
15:40
and you're not and you're nothing and you're not worth nothing."
15:43
And then he's like, "I'm just gonna let my voice dictate what that ends up sounding like."
15:46
And Walking is a master.
15:47
I mean, the dude is an absolute master.
15:49
- The peaks and valleys in that movie are incredible.
15:51
High he gets and then all of a sudden he gets caught up in the drugs
15:54
and the drugs start taking him down and how low he gets.
15:56
And you see him in his face and he just starts giving up.
15:58
- It's incredible.
15:59
- Speaking of highs and lows, Joseph.
16:02
- Joseph, right?
16:03
- There's a lot of highs.
16:04
- There's a lot of highs.
16:05
- He tried your backgrass.
16:06
- I was gonna say that way.
16:07
He's had a little bit more practice, but that was not bad.
16:10
- Yeah, that's good.
16:11
- So anything else on Genesis 40 before we leave it there?
16:15
Very interesting narrative, but...
16:17
- Well, I mean, I was gonna ask you guys, just what do you...
16:21
Have you ever had dreams that you felt like there were something more to it?
16:26
You know what I mean?
16:27
- I have, I just, I always feel weird like trying to read something into it.
16:31
- Yeah.
16:32
- And I would say that I definitely had dreams like what felt like there was something there,
16:37
but it just seems strange to explore that.
16:39
Like I do believe that some of them do mean something,
16:42
but I've never gone further than that.
16:44
- How about you?
16:46
- I never have.
16:47
But I, so I mean, I asked too, 'cause like I think I feel like there's more evidence
16:52
of the Lord coming to people in dreams of non-believers throughout the word.
16:56
And it's like I've got a buddy who is, he's lived in Beirut for 15, 18 years.
17:04
Yeah, Lebanon.
17:04
So he talks about the Lord comes to people in dreams all the time.
17:08
- Especially in Muslim countries.
17:10
Like you have to ask, 'cause a lot has been made of this.
17:14
Why is Christianity in the underground church exploding in places like Iraq,
17:18
Iran, Syria, Lebanon, like not just Muslim countries, Islamist countries,
17:24
like Muslim fundamentalist countries, like giving money to people to chop off
17:28
Westerners and Jews heads, right, that type of thing?
17:30
- Yeah.
17:31
- But Nabil Khureshi, right, seeking Allah, finding Jesus.
17:35
That's why it's on our book list because he was Americanized.
17:38
But he had a Christian who was just going to like slowly walk through the arguments
17:42
of Christianity versus Islam and Nabil, brainiac guy, like medical school type guy.
17:48
He was ready to go 'cause he had spent his entire childhood getting ready to dispense
17:52
with the Bible and hold up the Quran and all that.
17:55
But there are people that are uncomfortable with Christian apologetics
17:59
'cause it's like, you can't argue someone into the kingdom.
18:01
You don't need to study William.
18:04
Oh, what am I trying to say?
18:06
I almost said William Baru Weller.
18:08
Yeah, I don't want to study him anyway.
18:09
But William and Craig, you don't want to study these mega apologists
18:13
because you can't argue anyone into the faith.
18:15
But it was because the arguments were so enticing.
18:17
It kept him on the path.
18:18
But when his life turned around, he gave his life to Jesus.
18:20
It was when Jesus came to him in a dream.
18:22
And I've seen so many videos of Muslims describing how they came to Christ.
18:26
And it's because Christ came to me in my dream and said, I'm real.
18:29
Like put your faith in me.
18:30
And I'm not, I'm not just a prophet.
18:31
I'm a son of God.
18:32
- Right.
18:32
- This is an open-end question, but I'm curious if what a Calvinist would say
18:39
if you're not elect, can the Lord come to you in a dream?
18:42
Like is that something that would be problematic for a Calvinist or no?
18:46
I think that they would agree with the idea that the Lord came to somebody in a dream.
18:53
And they became a Christian through that, that he selected them.
18:57
You know, that it was predestined.
18:59
They may have a tougher time with the idea that somebody had a dream.
19:04
And they didn't accept Christ or something, but I don't know.
19:08
That's always been a hang-up, but I don't want to get into a big long,
19:10
like it's a very interesting question.
19:11
I just don't want to get into a big, long diatribe on the Calvinist stuff
19:14
because like, you know, grass, mire, and horn, they're both kind of the resident Calvinist.
19:17
And so they, and they would give an honest, you know, assessment of kind of what the viewpoint would be.
19:21
But that's part of my problem with, I don't think it's part of Tula,
19:26
but basically where it's like, it's irresistible.
19:29
So God is making the gospel irresistible to you.
19:33
So if I can't say no, then I don't have like personal autonomy, like I don't have free will,
19:40
because I can put a gun to your head and say, Hey, drink the rest of that jocko go,
19:45
which you would not need because it's so delicious.
19:46
And check it out, use promo code Kyle for 10% off at checkout.
19:50
But if I put the gun to your head and said, do it, like, and then you do it,
19:53
I still didn't make you, I threatened you to do it and you chose to.
19:57
And so that's the thing that I have trouble kind of unwinding is, okay,
20:02
I get, you know, for knowledge, but that, that goes into the world of causality.
20:06
And he's causing people to accept the gospel and causing other people to never see it.
20:11
I shared on, on here, I mean, that was months ago that I shared, but I had had an experience of
20:18
some portion of that where I had a dream that seemed like more than a dream.
20:24
But the reality of the details again, because some, we get new listeners every week.
20:30
So I know you, you stopped short of a lot of the details last time he talked about it.
20:33
But yeah, because we do get a lot of new listeners.
20:35
So the main thing was I was in a point that I was coming back to my faith.
20:41
And during that point, I was still struggling a lot with some of the verses.
20:46
I believe it's in James talks about the blood of Christ can't be shed twice.
20:50
And this idea of men, I feel like my eyes have been reopened to truth.
20:54
I had a moment there to where the blinders were on.
20:57
And so I was really struggling through that.
20:59
And I had this vision, felt more like a vision than a dream.
21:03
I don't know why just everything was set up in my room.
21:09
Everything was just as it is.
21:11
And but the main thing was, I won't go through all the details of where it went
21:17
and because I don't understand it, all of it.
21:21
But the main thing was is that there was, I woke up with this like amazing fear of power,
21:29
that there was this power and that there was a figure standing over me.
21:35
And it was almost like in one of those movies where a bob goes off and their ears are ringing
21:39
for a second and they're not really hearing anything.
21:41
But they can tell something's going on.
21:43
That's kind of how I woke up was this major pressure of knowing that power was there.
21:49
And I was just kind of frozen in the moment.
21:51
And then all of a sudden my hearing came was coming back to me.
21:53
This figure was very sternly like saying this thing to me.
22:00
I didn't at first like catch what it was.
22:03
And then as it said it to me, I realized that it was saying what it would call me,
22:11
like my name, but I'd never heard these words before.
22:15
And so that was really the main thing I actually concretely knew about the dream.
22:21
It went for about two more minutes.
22:24
Some other stuff happened in the dream.
22:28
I ended up walking into the living room.
22:30
Some other stuff happened.
22:31
And then I ended up waking up in my bed and I'm back in the bed and stuff.
22:38
But I remember as soon as it was over, I knew exactly that the one thing that I did
22:43
know was that that name was a special name for me and that that was like God.
22:48
To me, it was God reaching out and saying, I do know you.
22:53
I've given you a name like you like you've never heard this name before.
22:57
But when it said it, it was like as if you came back from a coma or amnesia and all of a sudden
23:05
it clicked that you heard your name for the first time.
23:07
That was what it was like.
23:09
It was super weird, super strange.
23:10
I woke my wife up.
23:11
It's trying to tell her about it.
23:13
I wrote down a bunch of stuff in a notebook that I can't find anymore.
23:17
But for the longest time, I kind of went back and forth.
23:20
I didn't really talk about it much with anybody just because I thought it was so strange.
23:25
And too, scripturally, I thought that there was so much of it that I don't understand
23:29
the more I talk about, I'd have to read into certain things of it.
23:34
And I don't feel like any of that is actually God led for me to read into it.
23:38
That's just my own like trying to figure out like, what does that mean?
23:42
I think there's clear.
23:44
I appreciate sharing that again.
23:45
I think there's clearly, obviously another dimension that we can't see.
23:48
And no, I'm not going all Star Trek, woo, woo on it.
23:51
But when you see about these guys that have serious addiction or post traumatic stress
23:58
or things like that, and then they go on these, you know, again, I'm not advocating
24:02
ayahuasca journeys or mushrooms or any of that.
24:05
But when you see these guys, they experience something that's so profound,
24:09
it's impossible for them to not be different after they get done with it for whatever reason.
24:14
And I, you know, go back to your question.
24:16
I don't have an experience where I can remember a dream and it being like,
24:19
as, you know, directive as yours was for us.
24:22
But part of the thing is like my wife's the type of person that as soon as her head hits
24:26
the pillow, she falls asleep on the type of person that as soon as my head hits the pillow,
24:30
it's like my brain turns into overdrive.
24:32
And I'm thinking about scenarios, thinking about stuff I haven't gotten done yet,
24:35
thinking about things that need to get done, thinking about just big ideas.
24:38
So if I don't take magnesium from Jocko Fuel or melatonin before I go to bed,
24:43
I can't fall asleep, right?
24:45
There are times where I'll sit there for 30 minutes and then pop another melatonin.
24:48
I'm not sure if you're supposed to do that, but I'll do that just because if I don't,
24:51
like I could be up for hours literally just sitting there, unable to turn my brain off.
24:56
And so, but the thing with melatonin and magnesium, your dreams can be insane.
25:02
Like absolutely the combination of whatever and they feel more real than real.
25:06
And then sometimes you can remember them the moment you wake up and then sometimes there's
25:10
you wake up and the only thing you can remember is that was a crazy dream.
25:12
And you don't remember anything else.
25:13
That's what I wanted to ask you about melatonin because the only times I've ever taken it,
25:16
that my dreams are nuts, complete insanity.
25:20
Like they make no sense.
25:21
I don't dream, I don't dream like I do normally when I have melatonin every time.
25:28
So I cannot take it.
25:29
Have you ever taken magnesium?
25:31
Never makes you sleep like a rock.
25:33
There's a particular kind of magnesium combination.
25:35
I've got the bottle downstairs.
25:38
I'll show you because it's not just magnesium.
25:39
It's like magnesium citrate.
25:42
Is it something like that that helps you calming?
25:43
Three innate, I think.
25:44
Well, there's ltheanine.
25:46
I'll just look at that on my computer right here.
25:48
But yeah, I mean, for some people that I've never taken,
25:50
because there's a magnesium that kind of kicks your digestive system into overdrive.
25:54
And so some people will buy that and take it before they go to bed.
25:57
And then they got to wake up with hot snakes about 30 seconds later.
25:59
And so it's like, you don't really want to do that.
26:01
Explain the hot snake.
26:02
Was it hot snakes?
26:03
Is it when the poop comes out like a hot snake?
26:04
Oh, yeah.
26:05
Oh, OK.
26:06
Yeah, so it's like hot snakes bubblegut.
26:07
It's kind of like a combo.
26:08
Yeah, it's not preferable.
26:10
Like if you can just kind of like shoot it out there.
26:14
One of those when you're wiping, it's like a marker.
26:16
It just doesn't stop.
26:17
You just keep on.
26:17
Yeah, keep on wiping.
26:18
You're literally, thank you, Chris Pratt, for this entire dialogue right here.
26:21
His blooper reel from.
26:24
Have you gotten on the undaunted podcast yet?
26:26
No.
26:27
Oh, I would love to.
26:28
Let's do it.
26:29
Oh, I get him.
26:30
Get him on the 40 table, right?
26:31
Maybe whenever the next Jack Carr thing comes out,
26:33
terminalist thing.
26:34
But no, that is the funniest blooper reel.
26:36
And those are the only ones we can.
26:38
The only one we can share.
26:39
The other ones are better.
26:41
But there's literally a scene where he's at the doctor's office talking to the doctor.
26:44
And you could tell when the camera people are trying to keep the scene going,
26:48
but everyone around them is cracking up.
26:49
So they're trying to change the angle.
26:51
And so whoever plays his wife is in the scene and he tells the doctor,
26:55
he's like, sometimes when I wipe.
26:58
A wipe and I'll wipe and I'll wipe and I'll wipe a wipe.
27:00
And then the girl, she's losing it.
27:02
And so the camera ends by trying to get a new position.
27:03
And he goes, still poop, still poop.
27:06
And the guy in the doctor was like, all right, let me take a look at that.
27:08
And he's like, it's like I'm wiping a marker or something.
27:10
Yeah.
27:12
And then the other one was he was telling Ron Swanson.
27:15
And he's like, I got hot snakes, you guys.
27:17
And they're like, what?
27:17
He's like, I got hot snakes.
27:19
It's like, when it comes out like a hot snake, I got hot snakes and bubblegut.
27:21
I think this is the first time.
27:22
How did we get here?
27:23
I don't know if that's your fault.
27:24
Is it probably?
27:25
Magnesium.
27:27
Don't want to craft yourself.
27:28
Yeah, I was in here wondering what I was supposed to be looking up.
27:31
But I'm trying to look up the the Jocko fuel combo magnesium,
27:36
because I think there's three magnisiums in here.
27:38
So magnesium is good for your brain too.
27:40
Melatonin actually makes you tired.
27:43
Magnesium doesn't.
27:43
And melatonin only helps you fall asleep.
27:45
It doesn't help you stay asleep.
27:46
Please explain why it does.
27:48
It works.
27:49
It makes me tired.
27:50
But why does it make my brain go crazy?
27:52
I don't know.
27:52
Like a text box.
27:53
There's a reason.
27:55
I don't do melatonin for that reason.
27:58
Well, mainly for the reason that I don't stay asleep.
28:01
But the magnesium, I have done that.
28:03
I wasn't on any of that when I had the dream though.
28:05
So I don't like taking pills or prescriptions at all.
28:09
Same.
28:09
But I took a muscle relaxer one time because I had a neck issue going on.
28:14
And I didn't sleep three days in a row.
28:15
And we guys have ever had that before.
28:17
Something happens.
28:18
But I was on day three, literally zero sleep.
28:21
And I was about to lose my mind.
28:23
Like literally freaking out.
28:24
And so they gave me some muscle relaxer.
28:26
And the first night I took half of one, not a big deal.
28:29
It did help.
28:30
But I still had some pain.
28:32
And so the second night I took a full one and oh boy.
28:35
I thought, honestly, as I was falling asleep,
28:38
I honestly thought I was going to die.
28:40
I was like, I'm dead.
28:41
I'm not going to be awake up.
28:41
I literally remember like I could feel my body sinking into the mattress.
28:46
And like it was just jelly and I was getting deeper and deeper and deeper.
28:50
And I could feel my heart slowing down.
28:52
I could feel my breath slowing down.
28:53
I was like, I am literally going to die.
28:56
There is freaking out, man.
28:58
I was like, and it's like, and I don't remember.
29:01
Like my last thought was not, I'm about to die.
29:04
And my next thought was, this is why I don't freaking take pills.
29:08
This is why I don't take any of this crap.
29:09
Because now I'm going to die.
29:11
And then thankfully, I woke up the next night.
29:12
Now, have you guys ever experienced going to bed,
29:14
being pretty sure you're not going to wake up?
29:16
Because my freshman year of college at UCO, I had the flu and strep throat at the same time.
29:22
But I got a negative strep test from like the clinic on campus or whatever.
29:25
And the test they gave me apparently has like a 20% chance of being false.
29:28
It's like, maybe don't do this one or maybe give someone five just to make sure.
29:32
But like my parents had to drive up because like I, Gerald Welch,
29:36
kept trying to get me out.
29:37
I don't know if he would appreciate me talking about him on the show.
29:39
I don't think he shares the same politics as me.
29:41
But anyway, he was great dude.
29:42
Solid dude kind of like the dad of the floor.
29:44
He was trying to get me out of bed and I could not get out of bed.
29:47
And so my mom takes me to the hospital and they're like, yeah, he's got a really bad flu.
29:51
And he's got the strep throat and and and and and.
29:54
And so she ends up taking me back home to Lawton and I go to bed that night.
29:58
And if I'm lying, I'm dying.
29:59
I'm like, this is it?
30:00
Like I'm dying.
30:01
I'm dying tonight.
30:02
Like I'm falling asleep.
30:03
And I couldn't even fathom waking up and telling somebody, right?
30:07
Because I was so exhausted and sick to I was just like, there, this is it.
30:10
This is it for me.
30:11
And it's a, it's a weird feeling because I was serene about it.
30:14
Not like I was looking forward to it and I woke up and I was disappointed.
30:17
I woke up and I was thrilled to still be alive.
30:19
But it was just, I had the intellectual knowledge that, yeah, this is it.
30:22
That's been a good run.
30:23
When I fell asleep that night, I would, I would have said it would complete clarity
30:27
better than 50% chance I'm going to be dead.
30:29
This is just because you felt like your heart was slowing down so much that it would just,
30:34
you'd forget to breathe.
30:36
Yes.
30:36
That's what I thought was about that because I was laying flat on my back and I could feel
30:39
myself sucking into the bed and I could feel everything slow down.
30:44
I could feel my heart slow down.
30:45
I could tell that I wasn't breathing like I normally would.
30:48
And I had no control, zero.
30:50
I was going, whether I wanted to or not.
30:52
I couldn't have gotten myself out of bed.
30:54
I couldn't have stood up.
30:55
I couldn't have done anything.
30:56
And it was.
30:57
I've never felt that.
30:58
So I don't really see the feelings, but just to wrap up the magnesium thing,
31:02
the Jocko Fuel supplement has 120 milligrams of magnesium citrate, 100 milligrams of magnesium
31:08
glycinate and 72 milligrams of magnesium tarrate.
31:12
And so those all kind of, oh, let me just read it here.
31:15
The magnesium glycine is for muscle relaxation and sleep support.
31:19
The tarrate is for heart health and the citrate is for improved digestion.
31:23
So that's a, that's a potentially dangerous one.
31:26
But like once your body gets used to it, I mean, I literally take it right before bed.
31:29
And that's about it.
31:30
But I guess you only have dreams when you're in REM sleep, right?
31:32
Is that right?
31:33
Yep.
31:34
So when you're in like deep sleep.
31:35
So I used to never have dreams because I would be kind of a light sleeper.
31:39
Like I don't.
31:41
Yeah, that's what magnesium is supposed to promote is REM sleep.
31:44
But that's how, if you want to dream.
31:46
That sounds right.
31:47
But then also just anecdotal evidence, you know, like a lot of times I dream after I've woken up.
31:55
And then I kind of distressed me.
31:56
Nico, drip fry back and the dream back.
31:58
So I used to, I think I've said this before on the podcast, but whenever I was a kid,
32:02
I had horrible nightmares.
32:04
And I learned how to lucid dream, which is basically like where you stay in that state where you,
32:11
most people, when they realize they're in a dream, they wake up automatically.
32:14
The other side of their brain kicks on and it wakes them up.
32:17
There's a deal called lucid dreaming that basically you realize you're in a dream.
32:22
You kind of surf that little bit of a wave of like, I realize I'm in a dream, but stay in it.
32:27
And then you could manipulate your dreams to get them to do whatever you wanted.
32:32
And so like, there's all these different ways people have a routine of counting their fingers.
32:36
Whenever you go to bed, whenever you're in a dream, you can't count.
32:40
So you can't count your fingers.
32:41
And then you can do all this different stuff where you hold your breath and stuff or you
32:47
jump up and if you don't land hard.
32:48
So people do this stuff to where they make it routine enough in their normal day to count
32:52
their hand or count their fingers to where whenever they're in a dream, part of their just
32:56
routine is to do that.
32:58
They go try to do it and your fingers look all fuzzy.
33:01
So my son, he also struggled with nightmares.
33:05
And I taught him how to do this in one of the weirdest things.
33:08
We caught him in the hall, he was sleepwalking, eyes wide open, having a dream.
33:12
He would look at you and he would just scream.
33:14
Like your face was not your face.
33:15
And I told him, I was like, count your fingers, count your fingers.
33:20
And he would have his hand still.
33:21
So on YouTube, I remember my hand still.
33:24
And whenever he would bring it up to his peripheral, it would just start going like this.
33:28
Like his brain would not let his hand, like his eyes see his fingers to count.
33:34
And so anyways, but that's where I started, I started lucid dreaming because I had
33:38
night tears and that was a way that I just found out I could get out of them.
33:42
Well, I think some, what is it?
33:44
So you're not supposed to wake someone up, that's in the middle of having a sleep walk
33:49
episode, but also like if you've ever been in a dream and you can't run.
33:53
So like, you know, you can't run away or whatever.
33:55
I guess that's your body's because your body will run in your sleep.
33:59
Unless you're something in your brain tells your body to not do it.
34:03
And so you're trying to run in real life.
34:06
But in the dream, you're trying to sprint and you just can't.
34:08
It's like you got, you know, spinner blocks around your head.
34:09
I feel like that happens to me all the time.
34:11
I don't know what that means.
34:12
There's a chemical that's released whenever you fall into a certain realm of sleep,
34:16
that actually immobilizes your extremities.
34:20
That's right.
34:20
And then whenever you wake up, that chemical dissipates really quickly.
34:24
Your body absorbs it really quickly to say like fight or flight, get up, you can now move.
34:30
Funny enough is that there's a different form of lucid dreaming to where
34:33
you're dreaming.
34:35
It's like what Harrison was doing whenever he was dreaming.
34:37
But he was awake enough to see the room.
34:40
He could still see the room, but he was projecting things into the room.
34:43
And a lot of people, a lot of people end up saying that there's times that you can be in that.
34:49
And that's where those people say that they laid in bed and they felt like they couldn't move.
34:53
Like there was a weight on them.
34:55
It's because you're in that balance between being awake and asleep and your body hasn't
34:59
kicked on yet to absorb that protein or whatever it is.
35:02
Well, and I've heard, you know, buddy that we train with, he was having like demonic dreams.
35:09
And like he's not a very like fantastical kind of guy.
35:13
Like he doesn't like hyperbolize or do any of that kind of stuff.
35:16
He just kind of is what it is.
35:17
And he's like the only thing I could come up with is that I would wake up.
35:21
I knew I was awake.
35:22
Like not like I'm in the dream.
35:23
I think I'm awake.
35:24
Like I'm awake and I couldn't get up off the bed.
35:27
I felt like something was pushing me down and holding me there.
35:30
And like I remember him explaining that to us at Fight Club.
35:33
And I was like, I mean, it sounds like oppression, right?
35:37
It sounds like a dark demonic force.
35:40
I actually had something like that happen to me before where like when my body finally woke up,
35:45
my extremities just flew up.
35:47
I almost jumped up straight in my bed whenever I was a kid.
35:50
But obviously having a kid that dealt with some of that stuff.
35:54
Whenever I got into college, I started researching a little bit more dreams,
35:57
stuff like that.
35:58
Found out about that chemical, things like that.
36:00
So that put a lot of that stuff in perspective.
36:02
Yeah, just to kind of put a bow on that.
36:04
Apparently you can have dreams in Rimsley, but while you're in Rimsley,
36:07
that's typically the most vivid, most emotional, most memorable dreams.
36:12
So you'll do a lot of dreaming.
36:13
You just woke up, wake up and not really remember them.
36:15
So there you go.
36:17
Well, let's get back into the story of Joseph.
36:19
Because we're going to be getting into Pharaoh's dreams now.
36:22
Can I say one thing on the piece that we just went through?
36:24
Just want to notice here something that was brought to my attention was that
36:30
Joseph is in this bad situation.
36:31
He's been putting a prison for something he didn't do.
36:35
He's been putting charge of this stuff.
36:37
And yet he still has the capacity to be watching out for whenever these two guys
36:43
wake up and come in the next day and they're just down.
36:46
He noticed that they were down, sad.
36:49
And he went and checked on him and said, "Hey man, what's going on?
36:52
Are you okay?"
36:52
That tells you a whole story about whenever it says that he was put in charge of this
36:57
and everything that he was under his charge he succeeded in.
37:01
That wasn't the first time he had done this.
37:03
Like he had been taking care of guys in this situation for a long time.
37:07
He knew what to look for.
37:08
He knew to say, "Hey, what are you going through?
37:11
I can tell you're kind of down today.
37:12
Let's talk about it.
37:13
What's going on?
37:13
I know you're in prison, but it doesn't have to mean that you've got to be depressed all the time."
37:18
But just the fact that so many of us go through hard times and while we're in those hard times,
37:23
it's me, me, me.
37:24
You're just so consumed with everything that's happening to you.
37:28
When is the next time I get to tell my story so somebody will feel sorry for me?
37:33
And here you have him just dutifully, again steadfast, just doing what he's supposed to be doing,
37:39
maintaining that status quo of I'm going to keep things that are under my charge
37:47
as pristine as possible, and that means these guys too.
37:50
Yeah, absolutely.
37:51
We're going to get into Genesis 41.
37:53
Joseph now is probably age 30, so he's been in Egypt for 12 to 13 years at this point.
37:59
And so this is what we'll do with this section.
38:01
We're going to read all of chapter 41, but there's four chunks.
38:04
And so I'll take a chunk.
38:05
You'll take the next chunk.
38:06
Russ, you're next.
38:07
Then Adam, you'll clean us up here at the end.
38:09
So I'm going to go ahead and get into Genesis 41 starting in verse 1.
38:12
After two whole years, Pharaoh dreamed that he was standing by the Nile and behold, there came up
38:17
out of the Nile seven cows, attractive and plump, and they fed in the red grass and behold,
38:23
seven other cows ugly and thin came up out of the Nile after them and stood by the other cows
38:27
on the bank of the Nile and the ugly, thin cows ate up to the seven attractive plump cows
38:32
and Pharaoh woke and he fell asleep and dreamed a second time and behold, seven years of grain,
38:38
plump and good were growing on one stalk and behold, after them sprouted seven years,
38:42
thin and blighted by the east wind and the thin ears swallowed up the seven plump full ears
38:47
and Pharaoh awoke and behold, it was a dream.
38:49
So in the morning, his spirit was troubled and he sent and called for all the magicians of Egypt
38:54
and all its wise men.
38:56
Pharaoh told them his dreams, but there was none who could interpret them to Pharaoh.
39:00
Then the chief cup bear said to Pharaoh, I remember my offenses today.
39:05
When Pharaoh was angry with his servants and put me in the chief baker and custody in the house
39:10
of the captain of the guard, we dreamed on the same night, he and I each having a dream with
39:14
its own interpretation. A young Hebrew was there with us, a servant of the captain of the guard.
39:19
When we told him, he interpreted our dreams to us, giving an interpretation to each man according
39:23
to his dream. And as he interpreted to us, so it came about, I was restored to my office
39:28
and the baker was hanged. Should I keep going?
39:31
Alright, then Pharaoh sent and called Joseph and they quickly brought him out of the pit.
39:38
And when he had shaved himself and changed his clothes, he came in before Pharaoh,
39:42
and Pharaoh said to Joseph, I had a dream and there is no one who can interpret it.
39:47
I have heard it said that of you, that when you hear a dream, you can interpret it.
39:53
Joseph answered Pharaoh, it is not in me. God will give Pharaoh a favorable answer.
39:58
When Pharaoh then said to Joseph, behold in my dream, I was standing on the banks of the Nile,
40:04
seven cows, plump and attractive came up out of the Nile and fed in the reed grass.
40:08
Seven other cows came up after them, poor and very ugly and thin.
40:12
Such as I had never seen in all the land of Egypt, the thin ugly cows ate up the first seven
40:18
plump cows. But then when they had eaten them, no one would have known that they had eaten them,
40:23
for they were still as ugly as the beginning. Then I awoke. I also saw in my dream seven years
40:31
of growing on a stock full and good seven years withered thin and blinded by the East wind sprouted
40:37
after them and page flip. The thin ears swallowed up the seven good ears and I told it to the
40:46
magicians, but there was no one who could explain it to me. Now Joseph said to Pharaoh, Pharaoh's
40:52
dreams are one and the same. God has told Pharaoh what he is about to do. The seven good cows are
40:57
seven years and the seven good ears are seven years. The dreams are one and the same. The seven
41:03
lean and ugly cows that came up after them are seven years and the seven thin years scorched
41:08
by the East wind will be seven years of famine. It is, it is as I have spoken to Pharaoh. God has
41:15
shown to Pharaoh what he's about to do. Behold, seven years of great abundance are coming in all
41:20
the land of Egypt and after them seven years of famine will come and all the abundance will be
41:25
forgotten in the land of Egypt and the famine will be will ravage the land. So the abundance
41:31
will be unknown in the in the land because of that subsequent famine for it will be very severe.
41:36
Now as for the repeating of the dream to Pharaoh twice, it means that the matter is determined by
41:42
God and God will quickly bring it about. Now let Pharaoh look for man discerning and wise
41:48
and set him over the land of Egypt. Let Pharaoh take action to appoint overseers in charge of the
41:53
land and let him exact a fifth of the produce of the land of Egypt in the seven years of abundance.
41:59
Then let them gather all the food in these good years that are coming and the and store up the
42:04
grain for food in the cities under Pharaoh's authority and let them guard it. Let the food
42:09
become as a reserve for the land for the seven years of famine which will occur in the land of
42:14
Egypt so that the land will not perish during the famine. Now the proposals seem good to Pharaoh
42:19
into all his servants. So interesting thing here is I feel like the the verse that really
42:28
stands out for me is verse 16 Joseph answered Pharaoh it is not in me God will give Pharaoh a
42:33
favorable answer. Okay because again two years have gone by since he had done the baker in the
42:39
cup bears dreams right the guy had forgotten about him so he waits for literally two years murder
42:45
yeah murder godly I mean I mean the cup barriers like dude really two years you had one job you had
42:51
one job like I gave you I gave you very good news and I gave the bigger terrible news and you just
42:55
couldn't you couldn't remember me until Pharaoh had a dream maybe will Pharaoh should be the cup
42:58
buried me and this scene would be better for will Pharaoh like oh yeah oh my bad oh my bad but
43:05
you got to think who does Pharaoh go to first he tries the magicians and someone thing is you have
43:10
to think like a cultist right not like hey pull a rabbit out of your hat like these are people that
43:14
are trying to you know speak to the other side and they're basically being held by demons right
43:20
that's the thing about the cultism is if it didn't work at least somewhat no one would do it and so
43:24
that's that's why you know some of Satan's best tactics are things that technically work and so
43:30
like you know when I went into the Enneagram stuff a couple of years back and all that people would
43:33
just be like hey but the Enneagram works like how could it be bad it's like well no it's kind of
43:37
like when Satan was quoting scripture to Jesus in the desert he just wasn't quoting it in its
43:42
totality right he was taking it out of context he was leaving very very important parts out
43:46
and he's just operating based on questions did God really say right it goes all the way back
43:50
to the garden which was a dragon by the way like the serpent was a dragon it's not it's not a snake
43:55
so just put that in your pipe and smoke it guys but yeah things that you want to uh want to go over
44:00
in this section here yeah I think I might have derailed you Kyle but you were you were I think
44:03
you when you talked about verse 16 I caught that also and it just comes back to humility because
44:08
think of Joseph and he's he's been up and down and up and down now he's in this freaking prison for
44:12
no reason he did nothing wrong and he's there for two years and the dadgum cut bear was supposed to
44:16
get him out and he didn't get out well now it's my time now I'm in front of Pharaoh and I'm going to
44:20
show him what I'm going to do me me me I I I nope that's not what he does he still takes it back to
44:25
God God is still with him as we saw in the previous chapter God's with him and he's given it to God
44:31
it's not about me when his wisdom like because as someone said like knowledge can be attained
44:35
but wisdom is a gift because there are a lot of people like y'all met people like this like they
44:39
were 34 in their ACT people these were straight-A students but they they couldn't talk their way
44:44
out of a paper sack like they they didn't have any street smarts it's like they had no wisdom to
44:48
I guess to put the knowledge they have into action and so he's just such a wisdom-filled
44:56
person but he's he's walking with God he's we see no indication that he's like
45:00
put down his faith so that he you know can lament this all the time because it was two years
45:06
after however long it had been since he was thrown into prison so it was even longer than the two
45:09
years it was just two years since that guy had forgotten him right so years and years and years
45:13
of him apparently just being faithful like when he and he didn't know he was going to get out of
45:18
the pit because he fell into the pit you know anybody no one thought that is that we've already
45:24
been talking about Chris Pratt nobody no one has that does everyone know what I'm talking about
45:28
referring to so season one of parks and recreation like he's got a broken leg and he's living on his
45:34
girlfriend's couch and all that and he writes a song because there's a pit like by her house and
45:38
he's like I feel it here on the pier I feel it here on the pier yeah yeah so like man I had
45:44
something really deep that was about to come and now we're on Chris Pratt talking about being in the
45:48
pit how many times have you done that you asked me to explain hot snakes and you knew exactly what
45:51
I was talking about no I didn't I need I just needed a visual reference you didn't you need a
45:55
visual reference no okay because like we can we can open that too I got google right here but
46:00
anyway somebody save us go so so you could go back a long ways and continue to do this but at the end
46:06
of the day if Joseph hadn't if Joseph hadn't been in prison he wouldn't have met the cup bearer if
46:10
the cup bearer hadn't forgot him the timing wouldn't have aligned with Pharaoh's dreams all of these
46:15
things come together in God's plan and at the same time us how would I have reacted in this
46:20
situation nowhere close to what Joseph did I would have been pessimistic I would have been down I would
46:25
have been you know not the way Joseph handled this at all and clearly Joseph is constantly willing
46:32
to listen to God's plan to let him walk where he's intending him to go one listen go ahead Russ
46:36
well on that same line is that at work sometimes we talk about the idea of don't bring up a problem
46:42
without a plan so you you have you have all kinds of people bringing problems all day long which is
46:49
exactly what he first brought Pharaoh I mean he interprets this dream he could have just interpreted
46:54
it and walked away and been like there's your problem you know you you got that to deal with
46:59
but again we see the steadfastness we see this character in him that he understands the assignment
47:06
the assignment is not to just tell Pharaoh what his dream is about take the opportunity that's
47:11
there in front of you and also suggest a plan to this guy and see where that leads as well and
47:16
that's exactly what he does God doesn't give him a vision of what to do you know he did the math
47:22
himself and said I think we're gonna need about one fifth you should get somebody that can get you
47:25
one fifth of this stuff and put it back so the idea that he also brought a plan forth again just
47:32
really speaks to his character and the type of guy that he was again this wasn't the first time
47:36
he was put in charge of a little and he stewarded that well and then it just kept on growing growing
47:42
growing but he has had the same process the whole time he's a five-telling guy and like if we look
47:48
at it this way all three you guys are business owners you have to deal with employees and you
47:52
know HR and all other you know like different stuff and you help people with that but the way
47:56
that I've heard and the way that I say to people is like don't just oppose propose right because
48:00
a lot of people can point out what's wrong right but it takes wisdom and discernment to point out
48:06
what the right way of doing things is don't just oppose propose because that's um people can be
48:13
really good about complaining and you know what that that and it's not a verse but what that statement
48:18
does for somebody that has wisdom is it invites them to propose to give a proposal for how things
48:24
could be better because there are people that are just like well I just don't want to be the
48:27
guy in the office that complains I don't want to be the guy that's always going to Caleb Russ or
48:30
Adam and just pointing out the problems and then whenever you have a culture of excellence and
48:34
a culture of hey if we're doing something dumb like let's not do dumb stuff like let's have a
48:38
culture of excellence and then that person can come and say hey this is something I've noticed
48:41
that is subpar I know that you don't want it to be this way here's my proposition of how I would
48:47
fix it and as a boss even if it's not a good proposition the fact that they brought it to you
48:52
shows that they're thinking about their job more than just like hey I'm collecting the paycheck
48:55
do you guys in in your businesses do you feel like you go through periods of time when there's maybe
49:01
one month or two month and everything's good and then for whatever reason it's hard to put your
49:05
finger on it but it's like when it rains it pours and like I thought it was good now I've got this
49:10
problem and this problem and this problem and this person's mad that person's mad this person
49:14
wants to leave and it just seems to all happen at once do you guys go through those phases for
49:18
sure yeah I think it comes in waves sometimes but it's like I can attack one problem but you know
49:25
we've we we a couple months ago went through a problem with three three problems all at once and
49:30
you know again this week got new list of problems employee-related type problems and
49:36
I don't know how to solve them all at once it's like just give me one just give me one I can solve
49:40
that but then it's like okay it comes in door close oh come in door close come it really
49:45
it's just it's too much for me to for me to solve all at once but it's also in those moments so
49:51
my problems more happen on the outside you know of what we're dealing with but definitely whenever
49:58
things happen like that there is some satisfaction though we just went through a two-week period like
50:03
that to where some things got really changed up schedule got changed you look at it a couple weeks
50:08
ago and you think there's no way this is gonna happen like this this we're not going to hit these
50:13
deadlines that's not going to happen and then whenever you do that satisfaction of just take
50:19
one one step in front of the other just just do the things what are the Marines say don't panic
50:24
work the problem is that Marines I don't know I don't know somebody's going to be young the two
50:29
you're the proud the one I know but but that is one of the military deals is you know settle down
50:36
and work the problem and that's you know whenever you have those situations like that that is what
50:40
I feel like we get from from Joseph here which I need to follow his lead a lot more I'm not a
50:45
Joseph type and a lot of things and so I like to look at him and be like man that steadfastness
50:52
just goes so far do you think that he so this was kind of a it was a pretty public thing right when
50:57
they're trying to interpret these I mean my understanding is like people on the court right so do you
51:02
think that Joseph was like trying to cut or it could have been perceived in such a way that he's
51:07
like trying to position himself to be that guy you know what I mean I don't really think so seeing
51:12
as how he operated once he got the position because we're gonna see his brothers coming to him before
51:17
long when he grows in power and all that and he didn't seem like a guy like that we've seen in
51:22
Genesis that was conniving that was trying to position that was trying to like be the Johnny on the spot
51:27
guy I think he just picked the spots and he knew when it was his time to open his mouth and again
51:32
if the Lord's guiding guiding you and guiding your steps that's I mean that's where I would land
51:37
it's kind of similar to Solomon honestly I would equate the two of them are pretty similar in their
51:41
wisdom and in their confidence because they know God's with him you know yeah well anything else
51:46
on this uh on Genesis 40 and then 41 first part of 41 all right we'll leave it there but next week
