0:30 This is Undaunted Life of Man's Podcast.
0:51 I'm your host Kyle Thompson.
0:53 Let's get into it.
0:54 All right, guys, we've got a special return guest to the podcast today.
0:57 His name is Riley Meek, so he is an entrepreneur, author, and speaker, and he came on episode
1:02 355 of this podcast, so you can check that out 355.
1:05 He runs what's called the Kings Council.
1:07 The Kings Council in a nutshell is basically a community of entrepreneurs coming together
1:12 where they can support each other in community, learn from each other, it's coaching, it's
1:15 all that kind of stuff.
1:16 We talked about that a lot on episode 355, so you can go back and get a better sense of
1:20 that.
1:21 The link will be in the show notes where you can check out their website.
1:23 He also has a podcast called the Kings Council Podcast, but today we're talking about his
1:26 new book called the Kingdom Entrepreneur, and so the thing about the kingdom is that
1:32 is something that Jesus talked about constantly within the New Testament, and then Riley constantly
1:38 talks about entrepreneurism and how there's a creation mandate and how we are to take
1:42 dominion over the parts of creation that God has given us dominion over, but most of
1:49 us don't really connect all those dots, right?
1:51 You know, we'll see some things maybe in Scripture and we kind of see how they apply to our
1:55 lives, but we don't always connect all those dots.
1:57 And so that's kind of his attempt with this book is to come together to explain the overall
2:01 concept of kingdom entrepreneurship and specifically how we are to act inside of that.
2:07 And so in this discussion today, we talk about Christian's thoughts on work, how we think,
2:12 you know, work is a curse and we thought it was a curse from the beginning, but we were
2:15 actually created to work, but it's the toil that was added whenever sin entered the world
2:21 that created issues for us.
2:23 We talk about dominion and what the overall concept of that is and how we can find that
2:27 in our lives.
2:28 We talk about how the churches that basically staying away from the subject of money, how
2:33 that's been really bad for a lot of people and their mindset and it's caused them to
2:37 not be able to shift into a different mindset because it kind of almost like sticks them
2:41 in a poverty mindset and keeps them there.
2:43 But also we talk about kingdom work and how making money and doing things inside the kingdom
2:49 is something that is required.
2:51 It's something that we need to do if we want to do all of these faithful things that God
2:55 would have us do.
2:56 A lot of those things are expensive and we even talked about regardless of your setup.
3:01 If you're an entrepreneur with multiple businesses or if you're working in a cubicle doing something
3:05 blue call or anything in between how anywhere where you work, guys, and you've heard this
3:09 before, but it's always good to get a reminder that you are exactly where God needs you to
3:13 be in that moment because you are in full time ministry.
3:16 You may not have the word pastor on your business card.
3:19 You may not do churchy things in your everyday work, but you are in full time evangelistic
3:24 ministry by the life that you're living and the life that you're living and the connection
3:29 that you have with God and the connection that you have with God's image bears.
3:32 So we talk about a lot of different things in this particular episode today, but I was
3:35 just really, really happy with how it went.
3:37 At the end, I asked him because he's always got different entrepreneurial ventures going
3:40 on.
3:41 And so he talked to us about this new thing that I didn't quite understand in the moment, but
3:43 I've thought a little bit more about it later, but we talked about that at the very, very
3:46 end, so that's an interesting thing for those of you that love different business ideas,
3:50 but I'm not going to keep him from you any longer.
3:51 So without further ado, let's get into it.
3:54 Riley, make your back, but here's the thing.
3:58 Last time you had a t-shirt on so you could easily start the gun show, but now you got
4:02 a jacket on.
4:03 What's the deal?
4:04 Have you not been working out lately?
4:05 Is that what's happening?
4:06 Bro, you're, you're, I'm trying to keep up with you.
4:09 So I didn't want to embarrass myself on this episode.
4:11 So that's okay.
4:12 That's okay.
4:13 You're going to keep it covered up for today, but the next time I see you, you need to be
4:17 wearing like a tank top or something like that.
4:20 But hey, you've been on the show before, as I said, in the introduction and all that.
4:23 But for those that don't know you, you got to give us your journey from super tiny small
4:28 town to entrepreneur, and you got about 60 seconds because we a lot of, we have a lot
4:33 of ground to cover elsewhere.
4:34 So you got 67, 60 seconds to give us the whole thing.
4:37 I brought born in South Dakota, born race in South Dakota, gave my life to entrepreneurship
4:43 at the age of 15, gave my life to Christ at the age of 16, moved up here to Minnesota,
4:48 which is where we reside most of the time now.
4:52 We do have a place in Florida, and I think I spend majority of my nights in hotel rooms
4:57 really just with all the, the businesses we have going on, but multiple different businesses.
5:01 I've done millions of dollars in revenue, but my heart, man, my passion is the Kings
5:07 Council.
5:08 I know that is what God has called me to do at, for this moment in time in my life, which
5:12 I mean, I'm sure we'll dive into this, bro, but this is, we disciple entrepreneurs, right?
5:18 And that was a big thing that was missing in my life when I started to make a decent
5:21 amount of money.
5:23 I was, I am the epitome of the prodigal son.
5:26 And I just thank God, thank God so much that he never took his hand off of me, allowed
5:30 me to grow through the junk that got me to where I am right now.
5:35 And really it's just been, the last four years have been epic, man.
5:38 I started to understand the difference between looking to Jesus as Savior versus looking to
5:42 Him as Lord.
5:44 And that's my, my mission, vision and purpose now is, is just Jesus's Lord, it's, it's sanctification
5:50 from here on out.
5:51 Okay.
5:52 I wasn't planning on asking you about it, but you kind of brought it up with the Kings
5:55 Council stuff and the entrepreneurism and the coaching.
5:58 But my wife and I were kind of unique.
6:00 We're kind of odd ducks, because she and I are both entrepreneurs running businesses
6:04 and a common thread that we go back and forth with is, you know, entrepreneurism can be
6:08 lonely, especially if you're solo, you know, you know, have a lot of staff that you have
6:12 to see every single day in the office, like I'm a solopreneur, she's a solopreneur.
6:17 And I've talked to other people that are, you know, everything from, uh, insurance salesman
6:21 to attorneys to, you know, uh, I don't know, like personal trainers and all that and they,
6:27 they have some sort of element of entrepreneurism to what they're doing, but talk to me a little
6:31 bit about just how, how you can feel like you're literally on an island by yourself.
6:36 No one's dealing with the same problems that you are.
6:39 You can't really see over the stack of crap that you have to do.
6:43 And it's just so hard to focus on the future when you have all this stuff that has to happen
6:46 immediately.
6:47 Go, go with that wherever you want to go.
6:48 Yeah, bro.
6:49 Yeah.
6:50 Absolutely.
6:51 Well, let's first off even just define what, what entrepreneurship actually is, uh, and
6:54 because I really believe, uh, everybody at the core of creation, uh, everybody is an
7:01 entrepreneur, right?
7:02 Cause the word, the French word entrepreneur literally just means to undertake, right?
7:07 And I, I, I looked to, when I read the Bible, I obviously look at it through an entrepreneur
7:11 lens.
7:12 Like we're a little different, right?
7:14 We, we like to create, we, we, we look for when we see problems, our mind immediately goes
7:19 to solutions.
7:20 And it's like, how do we get better and better and better?
7:22 And I think that's a God given, uh, skill set, but I think culture has, has done a heck
7:28 of a great job at teaching that out of us or dare I even say indoctrinating that out
7:35 of us.
7:36 And I think the enemy is behind all of that, right?
7:38 And just with like, uh, becoming slaves to the system that we really live in.
7:44 But I think at the core of what God created us to do was to co-create with him, right?
7:50 And in Genesis chapter two, even gives us a prime example of that.
7:54 But, but when we have that understanding, it's like, okay, we're here to co-create.
7:57 I know that I'm not doing this alone because also in that same, uh, section in Genesis
8:02 there, it says that it wasn't good for man to be alone and, and thank God he created
8:07 woman.
8:08 But also I think it's, it's more than just, uh, a relationship, but we've been given this
8:13 command to, you know, be fruitful to multiply and a lot of people think like that's making
8:18 babies, which believe me is fun, uh, but there's way more to it than just making babies.
8:24 It has to do with kingdom culture, right?
8:26 We've been called to be fruitful and that means be productive.
8:30 What is it that you have in your hands and then multiply that?
8:34 And then once we do that, we then can have actual dominion.
8:38 And so it's be, be fruitful, do multiply, have dominion.
8:42 And when we do that, even as a solopreneur, it's so important for us to, to know that
8:47 we're not doing it alone, but we do have to, to invite our creator in on this process
8:52 with us.
8:53 And then once we understand that and we start to invite our, uh, our peers or like mindset
9:00 at individuals into this process, we know that we're on mission together as kingdom
9:05 entrepreneurs.
9:06 Right.
9:07 And that's, that's specifically, if you're, you know, not a follower of Jesus, this might
9:11 not even make sense to you.
9:13 But if you've committed your life to Jesus and now you've taken on this kingdom mindset,
9:17 meaning Jesus is king, uh, we then now are all of the same mindset.
9:23 It's like we are growing.
9:24 We are, we are here to be fruitful, to multiply, to have dominion, the kingdom, dominion here
9:29 and now.
9:30 And we know that you can't, you just can't do that alone.
9:32 Right?
9:33 It's, it's, it's, it's literally impossible to do that alone.
9:37 And that's why it's so important for the aspect of community of coming together with
9:41 those like mindseted believers that are on mission, that have vision and have purpose,
9:47 that MVP process, mission, vision, mission, vision purpose to actually have dominion.
9:52 And that Kyle is really how I believe we as entrepreneurs can change culture.
9:58 Right.
9:59 We, because it comes back to there's, there's the culture of the world, which is dominating
10:04 right now, but I believe it's up to entrepreneurs specifically here in the United States of
10:09 America.
10:10 Like if, if we want the change, it's going to come down to entrepreneurs, those that
10:15 are willing to undertake the task at hand, especially here and now in 2024, man, because
10:21 it's a, it's an uphill battle.
10:23 But the beautiful thing is with this kingdom mindset, we know the war is already won, but
10:28 we got to come battle ready.
10:30 And it's, it's literally impossible to do that alone, to fight these battles alone.
10:35 We got to fight them with brothers and sisters in Christ.
10:38 And then that's how we can really truly have that dominion as I mentioned.
10:41 Hey guys, real quick.
10:43 Here recently, one of my family members was telling me about how they partnered with another
10:46 family and they bought some beef from this local cattle producer.
10:49 And when they got the beef, it was unbelievably terrible.
10:53 And I can tell you this from experience because they made me some beef ribs from that animal
10:57 and they were terrible and they even gave me some stakes and some ground and it was basically
11:01 inedible.
11:02 Like I couldn't believe how bad it was.
11:04 And they ended up finding out that the person killed an old bull or something like that.
11:08 And just the meat was old and tough and awful.
11:10 And that's just what happens when you don't have a quality cattle operation that you can
11:14 trust to give you a quality beef product on the back end.
11:17 And that's guys why I want to introduce you to the official beef delivery partner of Undaunted
11:22 Life, my friends at Primal Beef.
11:24 So Primal Beef is a cattle operation owned and operated by Sean Glass.
11:28 He's a retired Navy SEAL that has partnered with Jocko willing to launch Primal Beef.
11:32 So what makes Primal Beef different from some of these other cattle operations where you're
11:36 going to end up getting bad beef?
11:37 This operation is all American black Angus cattle.
11:41 The beef comes from one farm and that's in Virginia Shenandoah Valley.
11:44 The beef is all natural, no hormones ever, no mRNA ever, no vaccines ever.
11:49 And after slaughter, this is a big deal.
11:50 The beef is dry aged and then it's hand cut by artisan butchers and then flash frozen
11:55 to ensure that it maintains tenderness, marbling and flavor.
11:58 And here's another great thing about it.
11:59 For every box sold, Primal Beef donates meat directly to a member of America's Special
12:03 Operations forces through the C4 Foundation.
12:06 So you can take pride knowing that your purchase will help to put literal food on the table
12:10 for America's finest warriors.
12:12 If you're not salivating yet, it's probably because you're a communist.
12:15 Don't be a communist.
12:16 Try Primal Beef out today by going to www.primalbeef.com.
12:21 That's primalbeef.com.
12:22 Use the promo code Kyle.
12:23 That's my first name to get 10% off of your order.
12:26 The great thing about that promo code is you can stack that on other deals as well and
12:29 get all this money off.
12:30 Again, that's primalbeef.com promo code Kyle.
12:33 That's KYLE to get 10% off your order.
12:36 Yeah.
12:37 Community is so important and that's kind of the big thing is if you don't have community,
12:40 it's not an excuse to continue not having community.
12:43 You have to go and create your community.
12:44 But also it's good to be around people that are like-minded.
12:47 So let's say you're the entrepreneur in your group and everybody else is kind of just maybe
12:52 they're in a sales job or a nine to five job or a cubicle job or something like that.
12:56 They're not going to understand the stuff you're going through in the same way and that doesn't
13:00 make them bad.
13:01 It makes them different.
13:02 It just reveals that you had different choices in terms of your profession than they have.
13:07 There's a different mindset when you can only eat if you kill something.
13:11 Whereas with the cubicle thing, it's like we'll just show up and don't [inaudible] anybody off and
13:15 you'll probably be able to keep your job as long as the economy holds.
13:18 So having those people around you that are having those similar experiences is really,
13:21 really important.
13:22 But throughout some of the stuff that you just said there, Riley, you really hit on a lot
13:25 of stuff.
13:26 That's really the center point of your new book, which is called The Kingdom Entrepreneur,
13:30 The Creation Mandate, God's Call to Work.
13:32 Now, I don't have a physical copy here in front of me because apparently I slipped through
13:36 the cracks, Riley.
13:37 You and I talk all the time, but apparently you can't send me a book.
13:40 So you owe me, write yourself a note that needs to happen immediately.
13:44 But this is book two of a series that you're writing.
13:46 Yeah, I know you'll do it.
13:47 It's book two in a series that you're doing.
13:50 And just briefly, tell us what specifically Kingdom Entrepreneurship is because I want
13:56 to really dig into some of the different subject matters you actually bring up in the book.
14:00 Yeah, thank you, man.
14:01 So yeah, this is book two of a three-part series.
14:04 The first book, I don't know if we might have talked about that on the first episode that
14:09 we did together, but that's the God-given blueprint.
14:11 Like God has given us a blueprint to create through the seven days of creation.
14:17 So I lay that out in that book of how to create anything, whether it's a great relationship
14:21 or an incredible business, right?
14:23 How do we do this?
14:24 Let's just follow the blueprint that our creator had given us, right?
14:28 If we look to the Bible as that, like our literal operating manual, there's so much
14:34 that we can glean from that on how to actually apply it into our everyday life.
14:39 Book two, then, what we're talking about here today, man, this is the creation mandate.
14:44 And as I mentioned, the original creator has actually invited us, which is just it so blows
14:52 my mind, man.
14:53 Even when I think about this, I mean, I dove into this road of a book about it, but it's
14:57 still when I talk about this, just blows my mind that in Genesis chapter two, starting
15:01 in like verse 15, you know, God created man, Adam, and placed him in the garden to work,
15:09 right?
15:10 A lot of people think that that work is part of the curse.
15:14 And that's not the case.
15:15 God actually created us with the intent to work the garden.
15:19 Like that was the blessing that we got to do was to co-work with our creator in the
15:25 garden.
15:26 And we jacked it up, of course, and then ultimately the curse was on the ground.
15:32 It's like now by the sweat of your brow, you're going to sweat, you're going to to boil.
15:37 It's going to be hard.
15:38 There's going to be thorns, right?
15:39 And all of us, whether you're a believer or not, you know, that's what we deal with
15:44 on a daily basis.
15:45 But specifically before that, in Genesis two, there's a moment when God actually comes
15:51 to Adam.
15:52 And it's like day six of creation, he created the rest of the animals and the mammals,
15:59 right?
16:00 And then he created man.
16:02 And as he's creating these animals, he has to name them, right?
16:06 And so it blows my mind, Kyle, that he actually brings Adam into this process and he says,
16:12 Hey, what do you want to name them?
16:14 Like, what do you want to name that tall neck thing over there?
16:18 Like the, I don't know, giraffe, right?
16:21 Like, I mean, it's just so incredible that God could have did all of that.
16:26 But no, he invited us in the process and then from there in Genesis one 28 gave us this
16:31 succession plan.
16:33 As I mentioned before, is to be fruitful, to multiply what you've been given.
16:38 And that will allow us to have dominion on this earth.
16:41 That was the original intent.
16:43 That was our succession plan after he created everything.
16:47 Then he's like, all right, it's on you now.
16:49 You have to go create, right?
16:51 I mean, we may have, some of us may have even heard this like, first off, everything that
16:54 we see in creation right now was God created everything in six days.
17:00 But he didn't create everything that we see now, right?
17:04 For example, he didn't create the table.
17:06 He created a tree and then instilled in us knowledge and wisdom and insight on how to
17:11 make a table, right, or how to build a house or he gave us oil in the ground.
17:17 And then he gave us the ability to understand how to make tires and rubber and cars.
17:22 It's like, it's fascinating to me.
17:24 And even if just you look in the last 100, 200 years, the progression, how quickly things
17:30 have progressed compared to the last, you know, 1800 years, it's mind boggling to the
17:37 extent of where we're at in culture right now.
17:40 But I do believe, and again, we see this so much that even right now, there's a couple
17:46 statistics in the book, man, in 1913, the amount here, and these are specifically here
17:53 in America, in 1913, roughly, I've got to get my fact read on this, I think it was roughly
18:00 7% of US citizens were actually employees, the 93% were actually entrepreneurs.
18:10 And that's just meaning like you weren't paid a wage to sit in the cubicle, like you had
18:15 mentioned, right?
18:16 You had a task, like you had to, you got paid a specific amount to go do something and produce,
18:22 right?
18:23 And I think if we could get back to that, it would be incredible.
18:26 But it's unfortunate now it's the numbers are actually completely inverse, right?
18:31 Because the Industrial Revolution, everything had happened to essentially create what I
18:37 would consider slaves to just do the minimum, minimum amount possible to get paid what you
18:44 have to get paid for that eight hours, and then be done and go do whatever you want
18:49 to do.
18:50 And it's fascinating throughout the Bible, man, I don't see that model anywhere in Scripture,
18:56 right?
18:57 Nowhere retirement isn't even in Scripture, we are created to co-create with our Creator
19:02 and continually progress until He calls us home.
19:06 And that's why I just think there is a call to entrepreneurship, a call to co-create.
19:12 But if we've never heard of this before, it seems like, okay, that's a little weird,
19:16 right?
19:17 Because culture society tells us to go to school, go to college, go $200,000 in debt.
19:24 Now I know that's biblical, you ain't supposed to do that, right?
19:29 But this is what we've been told and we fully accept it, embrace, we've even planned to
19:34 go into debt to be slaves so that we have to forever do what we, I mean, we're truly
19:41 serving money in our poverty in that standpoint.
19:45 And so this book is really a call to open our eyes, unveil, maybe the, understand, have
19:50 the revelation of like, wait a minute, I can create something.
19:55 I can create something of value that people will actually provide money, resources too,
20:00 so that I have the time, the flexibility to actually do my God-given calling on this
20:06 earth.
20:07 And unfortunately, I think a lot of people is, the heart of the King's council is to
20:12 be pro-vision for the God-given vision of the church.
20:15 But here in America, we have become enslaved to making money, to go into a job which ties
20:21 up all of our time that makes us unavailable to our creator to actually fulfill his God-given
20:28 calling on this earth, which is to be fruitful, to multiply, right?
20:32 And then we've been given, that's the original commandment, right?
20:36 And then in the New Testament, we've been told, we are to go forth, right, to preach
20:40 the gospel, we are to make disciples.
20:43 But if we are bogged down because we have to provide and have pro-visioned by working
20:48 for our master, which is money, that's going to prevent a lot of those opportunities.
20:54 It just takes off the table because we can't do it because we're obligated to this job.
20:59 I have to provide for my family, which is honorable, absolutely.
21:03 But if we understand that there's another alternative, right, that you can create.
21:08 Whether you think you're an entrepreneur or not, you guys know you're an entrepreneur.
21:13 We just have to understand and open up your eyes to like, okay, what can I create?
21:17 What do I have?
21:18 What's of value here?
21:20 And then we help disciple people through that process.
21:23 Are your ad campaigns lighting up the dashboard, but not the pipeline?
21:27 That's bullspend.
21:28 And marketers are calling it out in dashboard confessions.
21:32 My boss asks for results, so I open my dashboard for the only positive sounding metric I had.
21:38 Impression.
21:39 Cut the bullspend.
21:40 See revenue, not just reach.
21:42 LinkedIn delivers the highest return on ad spend of major ad networks.
21:46 Advertise on LinkedIn.
21:47 Spend $250 on your first campaign and get a $25 credit.
21:50 Go to linkedin.com/campaign.
21:51 Turn to the conditions apply.
21:53 So let me get back to a couple of things that you said, because we're bouncing all over
21:57 a lot of the stuff that's in the book.
21:59 I think there was a progression.
22:01 Yeah, dude.
22:02 Oh, good.
22:03 I get excited too.
22:04 And then I'm like, wait, crap.
22:05 What was the question?
22:06 So I think it was like the Prussian, I think it was the Prussian model of like how they
22:10 did factory workers and they carried that same model into the classroom and then the
22:15 Americans kind of adopted that model.
22:17 And so that's like the sit and rose focus on one person at the front of the room, not
22:21 a whole lot of, you know, entrepreneurism focus.
22:24 It's all basically do this and then do it correctly and then memorize this and then regurgitate
22:28 it.
22:29 And then basically do that for 13 years of non higher education and then four plus years
22:34 of higher education.
22:35 And then, you know, it goes into the thing that you described.
22:38 And what I don't want people to hear that are in a cubicle because that's where I used
22:42 to be.
22:43 And that's where you're maybe listening to this right now, some of you out there, because
22:46 you and I disagree a little bit on the fact that everyone is an entrepreneur and should
22:51 be an entrepreneur.
22:52 Yeah.
22:53 And we've talked about that before.
22:54 I think we talked about that the last time we came on here a couple of years ago.
22:56 But I think a better way of thinking about it, which you talk about in the book is when
23:01 you do talk about dominion, which you've mentioned already in this episode, because
23:05 yeah, in terms of Christianity and work, there's a short quote that you make your point in
23:09 the book.
23:10 And it's this, what made the garden of Eden so special wasn't the absence of work.
23:13 It was the presence of the perfect coworker.
23:17 So if you think about it in those terms, it's like, yes, like that totally makes sense.
23:20 But then when you look at the dominion side of things, I want to read this quote from
23:23 the book.
23:24 God created us for kinship for dominion.
23:27 And inside each of us is a hidden kingdom consciousness longing for its domain.
23:34 And so to those of you listening to this, your domain could be in that cubicle.
23:39 It could be leading the people that are in your little cubicle farm or cubicle area.
23:44 It could be a business.
23:45 It could be a new venture.
23:46 It could be an additional thing, a side hustle where your dominion will be found.
23:51 So talk to us a little bit more specifically about the dominion side of it, and then we'll
23:55 pop around to some of the other topics in the book.
23:57 Yeah, it's so good.
23:58 Reminds me of what your first question was, man.
24:03 It's good, dude.
24:05 It really is.
24:06 A lot of people think when the fall took place that we lost a religion, and that's not the
24:12 case.
24:13 What was lost was a kingdom, right?
24:16 If we understand what kingdom actually means, the root word of that, there's two words put
24:22 together.
24:23 There's king and domain, right?
24:25 And domain, so we know king, Jesus is king first off, right?
24:29 If we understand that, like, okay, now we can build upon that.
24:32 But domain, a domain is like a territory, right?
24:36 Where you have dominion, right?
24:39 Where somebody, there's a ruler and a ranger.
24:41 However, the interesting thing is that D-O-M, Dom, the suffix of that is actually like a
24:48 in a verb tense, right?
24:50 So a lot of us can have, can experience like boredom, right, or stardom, right?
24:56 And so it's like, we know it's a state or a being.
25:00 So when Jesus is king, and we experience the kingdom, it is that state to that being
25:06 of his rule and reign in our life.
25:09 So when man sinned, we lost the kingdom.
25:14 We lost Jesus' rule and reign in our life.
25:17 The most incredible thing is, though, throughout the rest of the Old Testament, there is a
25:21 promise of a Messiah, right, and that someone's coming back.
25:26 Jesus came on the scene, right?
25:29 He lived the 30 years, and then he all of a sudden said, "Hey, he started his ministry
25:35 for the three years, he died, the most horrific death, and rose again."
25:41 And this is what's this.
25:42 I mean, if he hadn't risen again, Christianity wouldn't, it would be a fallacy, right?
25:47 But the fact that he rose again, and when he returned, he wasn't preaching anything else
25:54 except the kingdom, right?
25:56 If you look throughout the New Testament, he's like, he shows up on the scene, he's
25:59 like, "Hey, the kingdom of heaven is here.
26:03 It is here, it's not like in a distance or a place that we're going to go, yes, heaven
26:09 is a place, but when we pray, thy kingdom come."
26:13 Right?
26:14 He gave us a very clear structure on how to pray.
26:16 Thy kingdom come on earth as it is in heaven.
26:21 That means the kingdom of heaven can be here and now, and it begins with Jesus' rule in
26:27 reign in our life.
26:28 And so this is where if you've given your life to Christ, now, if you have it, you have
26:33 it, this may sound like Malachi to you because I don't even, this is bizarre, right?
26:37 But here's the deal.
26:38 If you've given your life to Christ, you've submitted it, and it's like, "Okay, Jesus,
26:42 you are Savior."
26:44 And this is where I was at for a number of years in my life because I didn't understand
26:48 discipleship, I didn't understand lordship.
26:51 But as I read through the New Testament now, I understand that whenever Savior is mentioned,
26:56 there's always Lord right before, and it's like Lord in Savior, Jesus is Lord in Savior.
27:02 So Lord, meaning I'm submitting to Him.
27:05 This is where obedience comes into play.
27:07 And if it's like, "All right, God, I'm going to submit to you," and I understand that
27:12 that's truly what the kingdom of when we're praying, that kingdom on earth as it is in
27:18 heaven, it's like, "You're ruling reign in my life.
27:20 Help me in the decisions that I make.
27:23 Guide me on how to actually walk this thing out, how to actually live this life out here
27:29 on earth," because a lot of people think that eternity begins when you die, like when your
27:36 flesh dies, but that is not the case, Kyle.
27:39 You know this man, eternity begins the moment you submit, the moment you pray, you speak
27:44 those words, "Jesus, forgive me of my sins, I repent, and I ask you to be Lord of my life,
27:51 and thank you for your grace and your mercy, the power within my life."
27:56 That right there is when eternity begins for each individual, and that's when the kingdom
28:03 can actually rule and reign.
28:04 And so as we're all walking around in these flesh suits that we have right now, we had
28:09 to understand that's the kingdom of God.
28:12 We are the temple.
28:13 This is why we don't need the temple set up anymore, because his rule and reign operates
28:17 in our life.
28:18 And he died already for our sins, and that washed away everything from that point on.
28:25 Then we come to him with a repentant heart, and now seek him as Lord of our lives from
28:31 there on.
28:32 And this just comes back to what I struggled a lot, Kyle, was how do I do this?
28:39 When I first gave my life to Jesus, it's like, "Yeah, this is great.
28:42 I'm 16, 17, 18, 19, I'm starting to realize I still have to live life.
28:48 I still have to figure this out.
28:50 I have to provide for my family, and I could have gone the route of what culture tells
28:55 me to do."
28:56 But thankfully, this is where I think, again, where we disagree is that entrepreneurship
29:02 isn't that you are building a business even.
29:06 You can be working in the cubicle and still be an entrepreneur if you have that mindset.
29:11 Because that's all it is.
29:12 Am I willing to undertake the task at hand?
29:15 Yes.
29:16 For the time, you may be working a job that pays you 15 bucks an hour for this eight-hour
29:21 day.
29:22 But if you take on this mindset, I am here to undertake.
29:26 I'm going to know that I'm not working for man, but everything, Colossians tells us everything
29:31 that we do.
29:32 We are working as if we're working for the Lord, not for man.
29:36 And that is, again, that kingdom, that rule and reign in our life.
29:40 And if we do that and commit to that, man, that's when there's just such freedom.
29:45 There's such freedom in that, and again, it comes back to that entrepreneurship mindset.
29:50 Well, I want to go further with that, because I literally, as you were saying that, I wrote
29:54 down mindset shift.
29:57 And I think you made a great point in the book, which it was almost like, it was almost
30:01 like a side point, but it just worked with the entirety of what you're going for.
30:04 But it's just the fact that we are all in full-time ministry.
30:08 And so I want to read this quote here, and I want you to keep going with where you were
30:11 going a second ago.
30:13 We were created and redeemed for more than evangelism.
30:15 Yes, that is part of what we are called to do.
30:18 It is our good works that bring glory and honor to God.
30:21 We are not saved by our works, but we are saved in order to do good works.
30:26 Because of this, all of our work is essentially kingdom work.
30:29 Even if you're not sharing the gospel or consider yourself in full-time ministry, can I just
30:35 say this?
30:36 We are in full-time ministry.
30:39 Riley, if people just took away from your book, and there's a lot more, they just took
30:43 away from your book domain.
30:46 Find your domain.
30:47 That God has set before you.
30:50 Find that and shift your mindset to be that I am in full-time ministry, whether I'm digging
30:56 ditches or in the corner office.
30:59 I don't want to be hyperbolic because I can get excited too, and I got this crazy ginger
31:04 energy.
31:05 But that changes the West.
31:08 That changes everything.
31:10 It changes the stock market.
31:13 It changes your community.
31:15 Because if you walk into a new church or if you walk into a new job or if you walk into
31:20 the same job you've had for the last decade and you just think to yourself, this is where
31:25 God has me to do full-time ministry.
31:28 He has me in this neighborhood.
31:29 He has me in this seat.
31:30 He has me on this plane.
31:32 And that's what I'm here to do.
31:33 I feel like it changes everything, Riley.
31:36 It does, man.
31:37 I'm so glad you brought this up because that as entrepreneurs, and I know if we got some
31:43 listening to this, you guys are hustlers, you're grinders.
31:46 It's like, we're going to work, and this is how I lived my life.
31:50 I still really believe in this philosophy that if I'm going to be the hardest worker
31:54 in the room, ain't nobody going to outwork me, right?
31:57 Now, we understand that, but it's understanding and corralling that into what true success
32:05 actually is.
32:06 And this is where what I think is so important because I was so infatuated with being successful
32:16 for a long time, but my definition of success was what the world told me success was, right?
32:25 And it really, for me, it was like, I wanted to do what I want, when I want, who I want,
32:29 who I want, how I want, right?
32:31 And when I really look at that now as a Christian, like a true Christian, a follower of Jesus,
32:38 that ain't success, right?
32:40 Because our success truly should be, I want to do what Jesus wants, where I want, when
32:45 I want, how I want, however he directs me, that's lordship, right?
32:49 But the world tells us that we need to be successful, we need to go make money.
32:55 And so many of us base our definition of success based upon other people, right?
33:00 True success has nothing to do with what other people are doing.
33:04 True success only is based upon, did you do what you know God called you to do?
33:12 And that comes right back to your point, Kyle, it's like, where you're at right now?
33:16 Where are you?
33:17 Are you in that job?
33:19 You are there for a reason, whether you believe it or not.
33:22 And if you, if you understand that and it's like, all right, God, it shifts your prayer
33:26 from God, give me out of this opportunity, give me out of this, give me more opportunity,
33:31 it shifts your prayer to God, use me today, break my heart for what breaks yours and open
33:37 my eyes to how I can be a blessing to somebody else right here, right now.
33:41 Because if we know the moment that we've given our life to Christ, if that's the only thing
33:47 that's important, the only thing we should be doing is evangelizing, right?
33:52 If that's it, if it's like, all you need to do is say the prayer, get into heaven, check
33:55 the box, cool, eternity, then the only thing we should absolutely be doing is evangelizing.
34:02 But that's not it, man.
34:03 The Bible has so much more to say about this.
34:05 It's a small percentage, right?
34:07 And when you, when you've now given your life to Christ, now you've entered the kingdom.
34:13 And this is where things get real exciting.
34:15 This is where it's like, okay, and this is what I think a lot of, this is where I was
34:18 at for, dude, 15 years, 15 plus years of my life.
34:23 It's like I got in the door, I thought, right, I don't know, I'm not going to go into a theological
34:30 basis of what I saved was I not at all, but I thought I got into the door, right?
34:35 But little did I know that there were so many rooms, there were so many things that
34:39 God had for me, I just didn't know about it.
34:42 I just didn't know that there was more to this, this life of a believer, this freedom,
34:48 this discipleship, this, this process of sanctification, and in that man, if we, when we understand
34:55 that, it's like, God, I no longer am chasing after the things of this world, right?
35:00 I'm chasing after you.
35:02 We play for an audience of one.
35:04 And when we, when we understand that, it takes away, when I know I've said freedom a fair
35:09 amount, like what does that actually mean?
35:11 It just takes away the pressures of this world.
35:15 What society has told us we're supposed to do or culture has said, well, well, you should
35:21 do this.
35:22 How you even raise your kids, it, it, it, it radically changes that because it's no longer
35:27 about them trying to be worldly successful.
35:31 Like my prayer, it's, it's so funny.
35:33 We do have Ellie huge homeschool proponents, of course, but we do have Ellie in a private
35:39 Christian school here in, in Minnesota and she gets her grades and she gets a little,
35:44 like, kind of worked up about it on getting AIDS and it's, you know, our, our teaching
35:49 here is just like, listen, we want you to do your best, your, your job is to only do
35:55 your best.
35:56 It has zero to do with even getting your teacher to like you or, or trying to win them in that
36:02 way.
36:03 But you do what you do, absolutely your best.
36:06 The only class we're, we're mostly concerned about that we want you to memorize to truly
36:11 memorize is Bible, right?
36:12 And it's like, you're getting an A on that, you could literally fail all the other classes.
36:18 And as long as I know that you're actually with all your effort training to be better,
36:23 we're, we're okay with that.
36:26 And when she, I think fully grasp that, she was like, okay, and there was a, there was
36:31 a freedom in that.
36:32 It's just like, if, yeah, we, she needs to learn mass, she needs to learn because she
36:35 needs to learn these basic skills, but that's not what life is about.
36:40 It is about knowing your creator in holiness and sanctification and getting, getting back
36:46 to just the basics of why we were created.
36:49 And then everything else, we're just, we're going to do it with our entire being, our
36:53 entire effort, because we know it isn't to go when man over, yes, that's a part of it.
36:59 But how we're going to do that is because they see that we're different.
37:02 They see it as you mentioned, when you're, when you're in the workplace, like if we are
37:05 truly image-bearers of the, of God almighty, right, we, we're called to be ambassadors
37:13 for Christ.
37:14 Meaning we, we're protected.
37:16 We have, we have like a protected territory within us and around us.
37:21 And then we should be image-bearers.
37:23 We should be like reflecting his goodness.
37:26 And when we take that on, we can't help, but naturally people are going to be attracted
37:33 to us because there's just something different, there's just something different about how
37:38 you operate.
37:39 You don't get worked up when things, you know, get tough when, when you get the crisis, you
37:43 don't get, you don't freak out.
37:45 And it's because we're rooted in, in truth, we're rooted in our, the kingdom, right, in
37:50 our, our ruler and reigner in our life.
37:53 And that truly to me is evangelism.
37:55 Like that's how we have dominion on this earth is the culture that we create in our
38:00 households, and then that flows out into the marketplace, into the world and kingdom culture
38:07 can now actually take place based upon what we've been told in Genesis 128, but we have
38:13 to be fruitful first in order to multiply.
38:16 One that really reminds us, well, you, you say it's like one of the last sentences of
38:20 the book, but it's the question you need to ask yourself, which is what is success anyway?
38:25 And so you're, you're talking about dominion and kingdom mindset and entrepreneurship and
38:28 raising money and selling and all this other stuff, but that's kind of the crux of the
38:31 whole issue is what is success mean.
38:34 Because is it crushing Q two, just like you did Q one, maybe, maybe that leads into the
38:40 plans that God has for you.
38:42 God doesn't need you, but he wants you to be part of his overall dominion plan.
38:47 I feel like there is a nefarious thing that's kind of undergirding a lot of stuff that we
38:51 talk about and it's something that you address in the book.
38:54 It's this lack of money talk in the church and a poverty mindset leading to a lot of Christians.
39:01 Again, if you're non-Christian listening to this today, we're so glad that you're here,
39:04 but maybe this doesn't, it's not going to feel like a super applies to you, but we don't
39:08 talk about money, even though Jesus talked about money in the New Testament constantly.
39:14 But in modernity, we don't like talking about it.
39:16 I think churches have been, you know, lulled into this idea of thinking like, Oh, you know,
39:21 if we start talking about money, people are going to get uncomfortable and they're going
39:24 to not want to come anymore.
39:25 It's like, well, yeah, money can be an uncomfortable subject matter.
39:28 I used to be in financial planning and people would much rather talk about their sex life
39:32 in public than to talk about their retirement plans.
39:35 It's just one of those weird things people, you're going to be talking about something
39:38 that people have a death grip on with both hands.
39:41 So yes, churches, it is going to be awkward.
39:44 That's not a sign that you shouldn't talk about it.
39:46 That's a sign that you should talk about it more.
39:48 It's also this, this poverty mindset that you can't be a good Christian unless you're
39:53 poor destitute.
39:54 And probably my favorite quote from the entire book was this, hear me on this, wealth is
39:59 not wicked and poverty is not piety.
40:02 Why I think we've bought into the fact like we do think that in the opposite, we think
40:06 that having wealth is wicked.
40:07 That's kind of a very leftist mindset that, Oh, you, you have all this money.
40:12 You must have gotten it by taking advantage of people.
40:14 You must have gotten it by, you know, ill gotten means or something like that.
40:18 And that if you're somehow in poverty, you get to claim victimhood status, right?
40:22 Well, I'm impoverished because of the mean guy.
40:24 And again, that gets into communism and socialism and all that, which is not the point today's
40:28 discussion.
40:29 But talk to me a little bit about what the church has done in not talking about money
40:33 that is kind of aided in this poverty mindset.
40:36 And thus maybe keeps people away from this, this kingdom entrepreneurship concept that
40:41 you're laying out.
40:42 Yeah, man, this is really truly what breaks my heart with the church here in America.
40:47 And this isn't obviously every church or some incredible ones out there that that are leading
40:53 their flock well, right?
40:55 But I think unfortunately where a lot of churches are how they're gauging success, right?
41:02 I think it's flawed.
41:03 And the fact that it's it's butts in seats, it's it's followers, right?
41:09 Now we weren't ever the Bible doesn't ever tell us to make converts of Jesus, right?
41:16 Not to make fans of Jesus, right?
41:18 It's to make disciples and disciples ship.
41:23 The root word of this is it comes from discipline, right?
41:26 It's like, oh, snap, when we really understand like we're making people discipline, we're
41:31 called to make people disciplined in their actions, right?
41:35 And the majority, this is why it's so fascinating to me, man, also throughout all of the things
41:41 that could have been mentioned in Mark, I forget the actual chapter, but really when
41:48 it says, hey, we cannot serve both God and mammon, right?
41:53 Or money is a translation that that's oftentimes used, but a proper translation is mammon, right?
42:00 And that is the spirit of money, the power that we give it over us.
42:06 And I think a lot of churches are unfortunately doing this and they're not serving God, but
42:11 they're serving mammon by not preaching and teaching how to steward finances well, right?
42:21 And this is why I think it's such a big thing and why of all things that could have been
42:26 mentioned of literally of all things, you cannot serve both God and murder, both God
42:31 and the devil, both God and lust.
42:34 Now, each of mammon, it's like, well, then this must be a really big topic that we should
42:39 probably talk about, right?
42:41 Because this is where I think you mentioned the wealth is not wicked, poverty is not
42:48 piety.
42:49 We have to understand this, like most Christians are serving money in their poverty.
42:57 And this is what really breaks my heart on this because a lot of people think, and partly
43:00 it's because they've been taught, maybe even indoctrinated this by an angry bald guy that
43:07 comes around and tells people how to save money, right?
43:11 Which is good if you're in debt, right?
43:15 He's got lots of courses.
43:17 He's well known throughout the entire, you know, Christian community, but it's literally
43:22 a means to an end.
43:23 Like, it's a race to zero.
43:25 It's to get out of debt, which is a great tool, a great resource if that's where you're
43:29 at in life.
43:31 But I know that that's not it.
43:33 The last I read, Kyle, we serve a God that owns a cattle on a thousand hills, right?
43:39 We serve a God of abundance, a God of more than enough, right?
43:42 And this isn't getting into what's known as like prosperity gospel, this isn't like
43:46 name it and claim it and, you know, blab it and grab it or whatever the heck it is.
43:51 This is gospel, right?
43:52 This is truly just like, what does the word of God say?
43:56 And if we believe that, then we have to believe the entire Bible.
44:01 We don't get to like pull out truncate scriptures and be like, okay, well, we're going to talk
44:04 about this verse today, because it's easier for a camel to go through an eye of a needle
44:11 than for a rich man to get to heaven.
44:13 And they use that scripture, but they didn't continue to read that the very next verse says
44:17 this with God, all things are possible.
44:20 And it's like, oh, when I read that, because this is growing up, it was like, well, I'm
44:26 going to be poor.
44:27 This is where I struggled, man, where it's like, I had a gift to make money.
44:31 Like, I'm unashamed to say that like God has blessed me with that ability.
44:36 And from there, it is stewardship, but for so long, I was, I was, I felt like I couldn't
44:41 be a good Christian because I could make money, right?
44:45 But then all of a sudden, I had a discipleship in my life.
44:48 And Deuteronomy says that it's God that gives me the ability to create wealth.
44:51 And then as I continue to read what were indoctrinated into me on specific scriptures, and then
44:57 I read the next verse and I was like, oh, so even if you're poor, you still need God.
45:02 Okay.
45:03 Then I could start to process this and understand that with God, all things are possible.
45:08 Now, having a lot of money, having riches, it definitely brings new pressures, new stresses,
45:16 new, new responsibilities, we'll call it into your life, right?
45:20 And we do know that the parable of the talents tells us that it's God gives to us according
45:26 to our ability.
45:28 And this is where I believe what is happening in the Christian community is that God is
45:34 raising up this generation of those that are able.
45:38 Because I really believe how do we know quickly, again, the parable of talents, there's a
45:43 dude who's given one talent, a dude who's given two talent and one who's given five.
45:48 And then it said God gives according to their ability.
45:51 And when I first read that early on again as a Christian, it's like, that's not fair.
45:56 Well, my one get one, one get five and like, hello, is that culture today, like not fair.
46:02 And no, it gives these gifts to our ability because if as you continue to read, you realize
46:07 that the one who got five, he freaking doubled it into 10.
46:11 The one who got two, he doubled it into 10.
46:14 And the one who got one buried it and he buried it crazily enough as you continue to read
46:20 this, when the master returns that the one who has five, he brings it to the master and
46:26 he's like, here's, here's what I did.
46:27 He says, well done, good and faithful servant.
46:30 You've been entrusted with a little.
46:32 Now you'll have more.
46:33 He says the same thing to the guy in a second.
46:35 He brought it to him.
46:36 And then when you read the one who had won, this is where it gets gnarly, dude.
46:40 It's like, he goes, you wicked and lazy servant.
46:44 You could at least put it on, you know, I can earn interest with the bankers, right?
46:48 But you didn't even do that, you buried it wicked and lazy and he took what he had, gave
46:54 it to those that were willing to be fruitful and to multiply, right?
46:59 But this is what's, this is where I understood coming back to this mindset, what, what it
47:05 said and I encourage everybody to go read this, spend some time in this, this chapter
47:09 because it's, it's fascinating.
47:11 He said, the one who, who got one and buried it said, I knew you to be a hard man.
47:18 And I, this is where I really believe our perspective of God is directly in correlation
47:23 with how we view money.
47:26 And if we know it to be hard and for him to, like, I don't, I don't want to like take
47:31 a, what we would consider a risk, I don't want to, you know, I'm just going to hold
47:36 on to what I have.
47:37 I'm going to hold on to it tight so that I have enough in case I need it.
47:41 No, no, no, no, right?
47:43 Matthew six, chapter six is incredible in Matthew, talks about provision and that God
47:49 takes care of the lilies of the field.
47:52 If we get to verse 33 and we said, seek first the kingdom of God, it says, all those other
47:58 things are going to be given to you, right?
48:01 But you have to seek first the kingdom of God and operate with that mindset and authority
48:07 knowing that he's given me this, I'm going to be responsible for this, right?
48:12 I'm going to be responsible, I'm going to be accountable.
48:15 The parable of talents tells us that as well.
48:17 And then the biggest one that I think is what we're missing is the availability, right?
48:24 Are we making ourselves available to God to be used?
48:28 And this just to put a bow on what comes back to, like, if you're strapped down to a job
48:32 eight hours a day or 10 hours a day or whatever it is, it's hard, right?
48:37 Yes, you can have domain in that territory.
48:40 But I believe that God has called some listening here right now, this is going to resonate.
48:46 God has called you to more.
48:48 He has called you to more than what you're doing right now.
48:52 But you have to put yourself in a position to receive what he's called you to do.
48:58 And if you're tied down and you're strapped down, the number one enemy of every vision
49:02 is lack of provision.
49:03 And if you're tied down because of that provision, sometimes it takes a step of faith to actually
49:09 act.
49:10 And this is a step of faith, not a prayer of faith, a step of faith, right?
49:15 Because faith without works is dead.
49:17 If we're just sitting here praying for God to give us an opportunity, but we're never
49:21 taking a step on the opportunity, that ain't faith, right?
49:26 God's like, bro, I already gave you like seven of them.
49:29 They keep coming by, right?
49:31 But at some point, you got to take action.
49:33 And when you have that mindset, then God can actually use you here on this earth for his
49:40 kingdom to come here and now.
49:43 And this is where I'd, again, just the entrepreneurship, the entrepreneurs, it resonates with us because
49:50 I believe God is absolutely bringing money, bringing finances, the wealth of the world
49:55 back into the kingdom so that his ultimate purposes can be accomplished, right?
50:01 You know, if he ain't returning until every ear has heard, dude, I consider that a freaking
50:07 challenge.
50:08 I'm like, let's get to work, but I'm not, I'm not an idiot in the fact that I don't
50:13 know what it requires an incredible amount of money to make those things happen, right?
50:17 And I know you and I, dude, we have such a heart for children and sex trafficking.
50:24 It's like the most wicked, gnarly stuff that is happening on this earth, like why do we
50:29 do something about it?
50:32 Individually people are like, I just, I don't, I mean, it takes money and I don't even
50:36 know who to talk to.
50:37 Tell you what, I know the people who to talk to, I know what it takes.
50:40 I know financially the amount of money it takes to save one child.
50:45 And when you have that conviction and it's like, okay, now I have to go make $100 million
50:52 this year.
50:53 I have to go make a billion dollars in the next couple of years because that conviction,
50:58 which I believe is a God-given conviction, it's like that's the responsibility that
51:02 I want.
51:03 If, if, if that's what God, because we know God can do anything, but he's going to do
51:07 it through man and it's going to take entrepreneurs to step up to the plate to actually be the
51:13 pro vision for the God-given vision on this earth.
51:17 Well, let's, let's actually talk more about provision because I feel like in every category.
51:22 So let's just pick, pick a random industry, pick a random industry off top of your head,
51:27 Riley.
51:28 Like, manufacturing.
51:29 Is that what you mean?
51:30 Yeah, sure.
51:31 Manufacturing.
51:32 If you're wanting to get into the manufacturing game, you're going to think to yourself, okay,
51:38 this is not only going to be time consuming, but this is going to be very expensive because
51:42 I'm going to have to build big buildings.
51:43 I'm going to have to buy very expensive machinery.
51:45 I'm going to have to pay people that have a lot of experience and know how on these machines
51:50 to run these machines, they're going to have to hire people under them that they can trust.
51:53 There's going to be a lot of training.
51:54 There's a lot of regulations.
51:55 There's a lot of safety protocols.
51:58 There's a lot of blah, blah, blah.
51:59 Okay.
52:00 But I want, I want to be in manufacturing.
52:01 Let's get after it.
52:02 Pick an industry.
52:03 And that's how people think.
52:04 But when it comes to ministry, people find a new category somehow.
52:09 And they think, well, yeah, you want to be in ministry and you want to accomplish all
52:12 these things.
52:14 Just pray to God.
52:15 And I guess it'll just end up in your bank account somehow.
52:17 And I don't want to belittle anybody because I literally, Riley, have heard stories about
52:21 people that did not have the, and I even get like a little emotional thinking about these
52:25 stories, people that did not have the money in the bank to pay the mortgage.
52:30 They were going to be out on their butt with their little kids and they get a check in
52:34 the mail.
52:35 Like that stuff happens, like the bank makes a mistake and all of a sudden they have more
52:39 money in their account.
52:40 And they get to keep it.
52:41 I've heard these stories, right?
52:42 But that's not what I'm talking about.
52:43 But when people are talking about kingdom work and ministry, I think they just expect,
52:47 oh, well, you're Christian.
52:48 So you don't need it.
52:49 I remember being pitched.
52:51 I won't say the place because it'll give it away.
52:53 But there was a person that was running a camp in a particular state and they invited
52:57 me to come out and speak at this camp, which I get invited to speak at a lot of things
53:01 like that.
53:02 But what they wanted me to do was go to this like four day excursion in the middle of the
53:07 woods to speak, I think it was seven or eight times for an hour of time and they wanted
53:13 me to pay my own way.
53:15 And I was like, wait, I must have missed something.
53:18 So you want me to take a week away from my family pretty much.
53:21 You want me to prepare eight hours worth of content and you want me to deliver it in the
53:27 woods for free.
53:29 And it was like, yeah, I think you should do your job for free as well.
53:33 But people don't realize that at the end of the day, kingdom work is expensive.
53:38 So I'm going to read this quote from the book and then we'll talk about it and that'll wrap
53:41 up our discussion of the book itself.
53:44 In order to be Christians, Jesus has commanded us to be.
53:48 It's incredibly expensive.
53:49 If I am to truly care for the needs of others, I not only need to be available.
53:53 I also need to be able to afford to do so.
53:56 Wait, what?
53:58 This was the revelation I so badly needed in what I believe so many others within the
54:02 church need to hear as well.
54:05 We have some stuff that we're working on behind the scenes here at Undaunted Life that we're
54:09 looking to roll out this year.
54:11 And guess what?
54:12 All that stuff's expensive.
54:13 All that stuff is going to require other people to be part of this.
54:16 And guess what? those people don't work for nothing, they work for a living.
54:20 They work for money.
54:21 They trade their time and talent for money.
54:23 But for whatever reason, Riley, there's almost like this brain contagion that if it's Christian,
54:29 you shouldn't need my money.
54:31 That if it's Christian, I shouldn't have to donate to you because God's just going to
54:34 provide to you.
54:35 He's just going to sprinkle it over you.
54:37 Maybe it's the name and claim it or the other way he said, which was funny, yeah, so just
54:43 talk to me a little bit about that mindset because Kingdom work is expensive.
54:47 If the Tim Tebow foundation of their arm that rescues kids out of trafficking, the rescue
54:52 team, in order to do that, guess what?
54:53 It costs a lot of money.
54:55 You know how I know that specifically?
54:56 Again, I know this kind of a long set up to a question, but I'm getting you revved up.
55:00 But I talked to somebody on that team.
55:03 They spent hundreds of thousands of dollars to get a kid out of trafficking, right?
55:09 What they did is they put the money in escrow.
55:11 But then they had a hacker that was able to get the money back, but they couldn't have
55:15 put it in the account if the money was not there to begin with, right?
55:19 So they took possession of the girl and then they took the possession of the money back.
55:25 But then also there was a specific hacker that had to get paid to do this type of thing.
55:29 And they're not the only company here, the only organization that does this, there are
55:32 companies doing that all over the place.
55:34 But without that money, that girl is probably still in captivity.
55:39 She could be dead now.
55:40 And so I just don't really get the mindset.
55:42 But anyway, I'm rambling on a little bit too far with the question, but just talk to me
55:45 a little bit about this, this disconnect for people and how expensive kingdom work can
55:49 be.
55:50 Yeah.
55:51 Yeah.
55:52 I mean, this is where again, I think the enemy has done a great job at infiltrating our minds,
55:55 right?
55:56 And here's the thing, the enemy cannot block your blessing.
55:59 He can't, he literally can't do it, but he can infiltrate your mindset and still a little
56:04 bit of doubt.
56:05 And then it causes us to block our blessing.
56:07 This is what happened in the garden.
56:09 And man fell, he didn't, he didn't like make Eve bite the apple.
56:13 He just said, did God really say that?
56:16 And then she went down a spiral rabbit trail.
56:18 It's just like, ah, and then here we are, right?
56:22 He didn't make anything happen.
56:24 He just, and he, he took power of what he could do and that was doubt, right?
56:29 And so many of us doubt.
56:31 And that's where I think the, the root of a lot of things, pride, ego is where a lot
56:37 of things come into effect here to, to when we're trying to further the kingdom, like
56:43 kingdom advancement here.
56:45 And you had mentioned the, the, the parable of the good Samaritan, which is one of the
56:49 most impactful stories in the Bible that, that has had on my life and it was, we knew.
56:57 And I just read this, this, ah, ah, quote by Margaret Thatcher recently, which is fascinating
57:04 because I, when I read this, the parable of the good Samaritan, then I all of a sudden
57:08 I, I saw Jesus's commandment right afterwards and he said to go and do likewise.
57:12 And I was like, oh, it is incredibly expensive to be that person, to be the type of Christian.
57:19 Jesus literally commanded to be that takes provision.
57:23 And that's what unlocked me four years ago of like, okay, it was now my permission to
57:29 go create wealth, right?
57:31 And, and Margaret Thatcher had this quote, she said, if the good Samaritan only had
57:35 good intentions, probably that story probably went to even made the Bible, right?
57:41 But he had provision, he had the ability.
57:44 And this is what I think is so epic is that he had to have even planned for this, right?
57:49 And this is where when, when I say we're serving money in our poverty, we're, we're typically,
57:56 and this happens with everybody, not just Christians, but we are level, our, our lifestyle
58:03 always meets the level of our income, right?
58:06 So it's like, we get a raise and all of a sudden the next month, it's like we're out
58:09 of money again, we get a raise out of money again, and it's, it's this, it's this worldly
58:13 nature that we have versus, you know, the Samaritan, it's like, he had money, right?
58:19 And he's traveling.
58:20 This is my, just my, again, my spin on it.
58:23 I don't know how accurate this is, but I'm just like, the dude had to be in a business
58:26 man.
58:27 Like he's, he's traveling, he's got a donkey, he's got supplies, he's traveling through,
58:31 he sees the Samaritan and he's like, oh snap, I got to ban the just guy up, takes care
58:36 of him, puts him in the in, pays for him.
58:39 If he didn't have extra margin, we'll even call it.
58:42 And this is where I think if we could understand that we serve a God of, of what I believe
58:47 is margin, right?
58:48 Not just like just enough.
58:50 A lot of people are thinking that it's just enough.
58:53 Like I can't even afford to tithe because I only have enough for this.
58:57 It's like, well, if that's your mindset, then I would argue you can't afford not to
59:01 tithe because I do know that God will do way more with that 90% than you can do with 100%
59:08 of any and all of your efforts, right?
59:11 And so it's, and this is just comes back to this, this mindset shift, but also putting
59:15 our hearts disposition in a place where it's like, it's, it's since it's the beginning
59:21 of the year, man.
59:22 It's fresh in my mind.
59:23 So many people are setting, you know, they set goals.
59:26 They said, you know, this is what I want to make this year and earn this year.
59:31 And one thing I come to realize and learn a few years ago is that from here on out, I
59:36 never set an income goal without setting a giving goal first.
59:41 And if, if that's just a quick little mindset shift where it's like, okay, my goal this
59:47 year, our goal this year is to give $1 million.
59:51 And the only way that I know that that can happen is if I make more than a million dollars,
59:55 right?
59:56 So many of us set an income goal to make a million dollars and then we'll give what we,
1:00:01 what we have left over where if we just shift this a little bit, right, it doesn't have
1:00:06 to be drastic.
1:00:07 But it's like, even if your goal is I want to give $1,000 this year, that may be a stretch
1:00:11 for some of you.
1:00:12 It's like, but now it's a different goal than making $100,000, right?
1:00:18 And now we're working towards something that's actually kingdom based, not worldly based,
1:00:25 right?
1:00:26 Because there's so many principles in the Bible that say we reap what we sow, right?
1:00:30 And it's like, if we understand that, that if we want to, and here's the thing, we don't
1:00:35 ever just on that, we don't ever give to get, right?
1:00:39 That's not a kingdom mindset.
1:00:42 But when we give, it puts us in a position to receive.
1:00:47 That's a kingdom to understand in mindsets, like I don't give to get, right?
1:00:52 Even though that is a biblical principle, right?
1:00:56 Whatever you give, if it's life and death in the words that you're speaking, right?
1:01:00 You're going to reap what you sow, right?
1:01:03 But if my mindset and my heart's disposition is now that I'm going to give, I know that
1:01:08 I'm going to get, but it's not because it's not the reason why I'm giving, but it is putting
1:01:13 me in a position to receive what our almighty creator wants to give.
1:01:20 And now our heart is not chasing after the things of the world, but it's chasing after
1:01:26 things of the kingdom.
1:01:27 We're now storing up treasures in heaven versus trying to store up wealth on this earth, right?
1:01:35 In this time that we're walking this earth right now.
1:01:37 But literally everything that we're talking about Kyle comes back to the mindset.
1:01:44 And if we'd understand that this is, yes, to be saved, right, to experience salvation,
1:01:53 it is to believe in our heart and then speak with our mouth, right?
1:02:00 That's how we experience salvation.
1:02:01 We believe in our heart, but then we speak, a repentance prayer, we speak, and that's how
1:02:07 we experience salvation.
1:02:08 And so the only way that that happens though, we can believe in our heart, but if I never
1:02:11 have a kingdom mindset shift, I'm never going to speak the words of life in my life.
1:02:16 And so if we can control this, right, this is, this is where a lot of things begin and
1:02:21 end in the believer's life in anybody's life is this mindset, but it's not just think positive,
1:02:26 think positive, think positive, it is, it is think kingdom, Jesus is rule and reign in
1:02:31 our life.
1:02:32 And that's where it boils down to even just the mentality that you mentioned that Christians
1:02:39 are expected to give things for free.
1:02:42 And this is partly why I believe so much, you know, Christian, you know, businesses and
1:02:48 the products they put out are crappy, like it's unfortunate.
1:02:52 It's, I mean, it's not even joke, it's not even laughable, it truly does break my heart
1:02:58 because again, if we're supposed to be image bears of our creator, we should be putting
1:03:02 them out the most excellent product, the most, the most incredible services.
1:03:08 And that again, comes back to mindset, like if, hey, if we're not doing everything that
1:03:13 we do in excellence, as Colossians says to whatever we do, work as if you're working
1:03:17 for the Lord, that means that last sales call, you ain't working for the boss, you ain't
1:03:22 even working for yourself, you're working for God.
1:03:24 So do it with excellence.
1:03:25 That last law and you're supposed to mow, do it with excellence.
1:03:29 Did you skip the tree trimming?
1:03:30 Do it with excellence.
1:03:31 And that mentality will you will reap what you sow if you are doing nothing but putting
1:03:37 out excellence because the world can't help, they can't help it, but be attracted to excellence.
1:03:43 And when we have that mindset as believers, that's where the kingdom culture can actually
1:03:46 flourish and we can actually have no minion.
1:03:49 Yeah, guys, we have to remember we were working for an audience of one and I've said this
1:03:53 a lot and I'll repeat it.
1:03:54 I give just as much effort today to preparing a podcast interview as I did with my first
1:03:59 interview back on episode 100.
1:04:01 My solo episodes, I give the same level of effort as I did back in 2017 when we started
1:04:06 this thing.
1:04:07 And that was back when we had essentially no audience and then in December, we were in
1:04:10 the top 150 out of all five and a half plus million shows on Spotify, but it's putting
1:04:15 out the same amount of effort.
1:04:16 Now that doesn't mean if you put out the same amount of effort that that's all you need.
1:04:20 You know, you do need some talent, you need some skill and you need some luck, but the
1:04:23 best thing I ever heard was like, luck is the residue of hard work.
1:04:27 And so some people that get lucky, they are overnight sensations that have been doing the
1:04:31 thing for 10 years or whatever.
1:04:33 But that's the book, the kingdom entrepreneur.
1:04:34 I'm looking at the clock.
1:04:35 We're running out of time here, but I always like to ask you any time I see you, it's always
1:04:39 what are you working on now?
1:04:40 Because you've got King's council, you got some other stuff, but you always got like
1:04:45 irons in the fire and it's typically stuff that I don't understand.
1:04:49 And so I have to ask a lot of follow-up questions because I'm not very smart.
1:04:52 But like, what are you working on now?
1:04:54 Is there anything you got going that's interesting?
1:04:56 Yeah, man.
1:04:57 There's so many things.
1:04:58 As entrepreneurs, a lot of people tell you to follow your passion.
1:05:00 You'll never work a day in your life.
1:05:03 I think that's a moronic because you still have to provide, right?
1:05:06 A lot of people are passionate about stuff that doesn't make money.
1:05:09 So I follow opportunities.
1:05:11 And so head on a swivel.
1:05:13 I'm always looking for opportunities, right?
1:05:16 And then my job is to vet those things out and see like, does this have legs?
1:05:20 Does this make sense?
1:05:21 One of the things that I've struggled with was taking on too many opportunities because
1:05:26 then I can't operate in excellence.
1:05:28 If I'm, you know, so bogged down with too many ions in the fire, we'll call it, right?
1:05:33 So this year, we're focusing on a handful of big projects of things that are really going
1:05:41 to impact people on a whole new level.
1:05:44 And one, a big one now, I'll just share with you, man, we've launched a pharmacy, a membership
1:05:50 based pharmacy.
1:05:51 It's called America's First Pharmacy.
1:05:55 And just knowing diving into being a part of someone of the, you know, the in that health
1:06:00 industry, we'll call it the, and seeing medicine and a lot of the corruption that's taking
1:06:05 place because a lot of it is driven by the almighty dollar.
1:06:09 They're literally serving mammon, not God.
1:06:12 We've realized that there is, there is, there are solutions here to people that need medications
1:06:18 that just don't have the financial means to get it, whether they don't have health insurance
1:06:22 that covers it, or even their, their deductibles and things or their co-pays, excuse me, are
1:06:28 so high to afford these things.
1:06:30 So we've literally structured a pharmacy, man, that's a membership based pharmacy.
1:06:35 We have over 800 medications in this right now and more coming that are completely free.
1:06:41 FREE completely free as long as you got a membership with us.
1:06:46 And a membership, bro, is 20 bucks a month.
1:06:48 And so, and this isn't like, I know there's good RX and those out there that are like,
1:06:52 oh, you still get, you get them at a discount.
1:06:54 No, no, no, these are free for a single membership.
1:06:58 It's 20 bucks a month for a family membership.
1:07:00 It's only 30 bucks a month.
1:07:01 And all of your medications, assuming there are some of the 800 that we have now are free
1:07:07 direct ship to you.
1:07:09 We do these in 90 day supplies as well.
1:07:13 Or if you have an acute thing, you got to be like, I need it today, I can't wait for
1:07:16 it to be shipped tomorrow.
1:07:18 You can literally walk into the majority over 60,000 pharmacies that we have networked
1:07:23 with throughout the country.
1:07:24 And so I think it's going to help keep money in the kingdom economy here, not these corrupt
1:07:30 PBMs and these pharmaceutical benefit companies that are all just scapegoats for political
1:07:39 things that are taking place.
1:07:41 So we're keeping money in the kingdom economy and then we're also able to provide these
1:07:46 medications.
1:07:47 I'm not a huge proponent of medications.
1:07:48 Like if you don't have to take a medication, I think if they're over prescribed majority
1:07:51 of the time, then don't do it, right?
1:07:54 Take care of your health, most importantly, but there are certain things that medication
1:07:57 are needed.
1:07:58 Sometimes an antibiotic is needed.
1:08:00 All of those are included within this membership that we have available.
1:08:04 So it's America first pharmacy, bro.
1:08:07 So I'm going to violate our agreement on time here because I have a follow up question.
1:08:10 I almost never do this because I hate when people are made late because of other people.
1:08:14 So just one quick follow up on that because I just want to make sure I'm following you.
1:08:17 So this is like, okay, so they have a subscription through you all.
1:08:23 And if the the medication that they need that they have to regularly take or whatever is
1:08:27 all on y'all's list, then they can just opt.
1:08:30 Hey, I want that one.
1:08:31 I want that one.
1:08:32 Do they get like one medication for that for that 20 or 30 bucks a month?
1:08:35 Do they get whatever medications that that they need?
1:08:38 Like what if it's opioids and it's post surgery?
1:08:41 Like what?
1:08:42 Yeah.
1:08:43 I guess like what are some more than details?
1:08:44 Yeah.
1:08:45 Yeah.
1:08:46 So first off, you can go to americafurstpharmacy.com and do a drug search on there and just see
1:08:51 if your medication is on the list.
1:08:53 We've got a whole list on there, you know, narcotics, opiates, things like that that
1:08:58 are more controlled substances.
1:09:00 We don't have those like readily available.
1:09:03 We can get them at a definite discount.
1:09:05 Now here's the deal.
1:09:06 You still have to have a prescription, right?
1:09:08 So we're not like breaking laws or anything here.
1:09:11 You have a prescription from your doctor that says, I need a lot of pain, right?
1:09:16 Blood pressure medication, Losartan, I need even an antibiotic, amoxicillin.
1:09:21 I need this for, we're sick right now.
1:09:24 We have those, right?
1:09:26 You still have to have a prescription.
1:09:28 We're working, launching here soon to have a full blown telehealth telemedicine where
1:09:33 you can meet with the doctor and get a prescription.
1:09:35 But at this point, it is, if you have the prescription and it's on the list, you could
1:09:41 have one.
1:09:42 You could have 35 prescriptions for 20 bucks a month.
1:09:45 It is completely free.
1:09:47 Just your $20 a month membership.
1:09:49 It's a pretty good deal, dude.
1:09:51 I know it sounds too good to me, true.
1:09:53 I have more questions, but we're out of time.
1:09:55 We're going to have to leave it there.
1:09:57 Riley, I would normally ask you, is there anything else you want to get off your chest?
1:09:59 But I know, in fact, that there is somebody else waiting on you right now.
1:10:02 So I'm not even going to say that.
1:10:03 So I'm just going to say thank you and we'll talk to you again soon.
