0:09
LinkedIn can help you find new jobs that align with your career goals.
0:13
We cannot help you find the source of that weird smell in the office fridge.
0:18
And while we can't stop your co-workers from bringing their hobbies into the office, LinkedIn
0:24
can help you bring your career to the next level.
0:27
LinkedIn is the network that works for you.
0:30
This is Undaunted Life, a Man's Podcast.
0:51
I'm your host Kyle Thompson.
0:53
Let's get into it.
0:54
I love the Lord because he has heard my voice and my pleas for mercy because he inclined
0:58
his ear to me.
0:59
Therefore, I will call on him as long as I live.
1:01
That is Psalm 116 one through two.
1:03
There's nothing specific as to why I pulled that out for today.
1:06
I just like it.
1:07
I think it's awesome.
1:08
But guys, we're going to do some fun things here on today's episode that are long overdue.
1:11
Before we get there, I want to remind you, if you have not done so already, please leave
1:15
us a positive five star review.
1:16
Most of the reviews that you guys are familiar with are either on Spotify or Apple Podcast.
1:20
But if you listen on one and not the other, if you would do me a solid, just go over to
1:23
the other one.
1:24
Leave five stars real quick.
1:25
It's actually super, super easy on Spotify, but I know some of you all listen on some
1:28
of the other players that are out there.
1:30
So I would appreciate five star reviews everywhere.
1:32
If it's four star below, just ignore it.
1:33
Just move on with your day.
1:34
You don't have to worry about it.
1:35
Also, guys, we are almost a 100% listener supported ministry.
1:39
So if you guys like the stuff that we're doing, yes, we do have some ads, but the overwhelming
1:42
majority of how we're able to keep the lights on around here is because guys like you donate.
1:46
So here's the thing.
1:47
If you like this content, if you want more content like this, understand that everything
1:52
we do cost money and everything we're planning on doing in 2023 and beyond cost money.
1:57
So we need guys just like you to hop on board with us.
1:59
So go to undaunted dot life backslash pot or sorry, undaunted live dot life backslash donate
2:04
undaunted dot life backslash donate to go and do that.
2:07
But before we get there, I want to remind you about the upper room and the Kings Council.
2:11
So this is big time attention to business owners, entrepreneurs and the soon to be entrepreneurs
2:14
that are listening to this podcast right now, the upper room and the Kings Council.
2:18
So the mission of these two organizations is to create wealth and provision for the purpose
2:22
of establishing God's covenant on earth.
2:24
So what these organizations do, what these two groups do is they equip entrepreneurs with
2:29
tools, systems and frameworks necessary to discover, develop and deploy their God given
2:34
vision into the marketplace.
2:35
So specifically, I want to talk about the upper room mastermind.
2:38
So if you're an existing entrepreneur or a business owner, you're about to launch in
2:41
or you're trying to ramp up and you're looking for a tribe of like minded, bold kingdom leaders
2:46
eager to engage in the battle of business, then the upper room is 100% for you guys.
2:51
So I don't want you to miss out on this.
2:52
So what they do is they host virtual and in person events every month and they focus on
2:56
business strategies to increase sustainable revenue for your business while providing
3:01
ongoing accountability.
3:02
So this is a very customizable thing to your business.
3:05
Because obviously, if you're running, you know, a flower shop versus running an insurance
3:10
business is going to be a little bit different, what your needs are.
3:12
So I've actually spoken to their group before.
3:14
So I have some behind the scenes looks as kind of some of the things that they're doing.
3:17
And if you want more information on this, go to episode 355 of this podcast.
3:20
That was my interview with Riley Meek.
3:21
He is the founder of the Kings Council in the upper room.
3:24
So it's 355 Riley Meek at the King Entrepreneurship and Money.
3:27
And he made an offer on that episode that I thought was awesome.
3:31
So if you guys will text upper room to 727-472-3860, you will get an application to schedule
3:38
a one on one with Riley Meek, who is the founder of the upper room and the Kings Council.
3:43
So again, that's upper room.
3:45
So that's U-P-P-E-R-R-O-O-M to 727-472-3860 to schedule your one on one with the founder
3:54
of the upper room and the Kings Council.
3:56
Riley Meek, guys, you will not want to miss this.
3:58
It's going to be great value to you.
3:59
But today, what we're going to be doing today is we haven't done Q&A in a very, very long
4:04
time.
4:05
And when I was going back through my notes to figure out what number we were on because
4:08
we're on volume 20, the last time we did Q&A was in April, like that's a long time.
4:13
But just so you guys know, when you send me DMs or emails with questions, even if you
4:17
want them to be immediately answered, some of you send stuff specifically for Q&A podcasts,
4:21
I put them into a bank on my phone of questions for me to pull from later.
4:24
And in this particular podcast, none of these, I believe, have anything to do with the news
4:28
cycle.
4:29
So this is kind of a standalone episode.
4:30
This can kind of go whenever, wherever it's not really going to have to do with something
4:33
that's pertinent in the news.
4:34
So that gets you guys a little bit of a break from the news cycle, but don't worry, we'll
4:37
get back into it next week.
4:39
But with these questions, I just want to kind of let you guys know, you can ask me anything
4:43
that you want to ask me.
4:44
There have been very, very few emails.
4:45
There was actually one here recently that I won't go into very, very few emails will
4:48
go without a response from me.
4:50
If you, if you take the time to send me an email info, add on to that life info, add
4:54
on to that life, I will take the time to respond.
4:56
I typically respond with a voice memo because it's just quicker for me.
4:59
I don't have to sit there and, you know, make sure I spelled everything correctly and blah,
5:02
blah, blah, and move on.
5:03
I can just basically talk into my phone, send it to you and give you what you need.
5:06
So guys, if you want to get your answer or your question, rather answer it on a future
5:09
Q&A episode or have a chance at that, send me a DM to any of our social medias.
5:13
I don't really pay attention to the comments.
5:15
So pay, send me a DM or send me an email and we'll go for there.
5:18
So let's go ahead and get into the first Q&A question here.
5:21
How do you speak your wife's love language?
5:23
Okay.
5:24
So this is obviously going back to, Oh gosh, what is the name of the Gary crap?
5:28
Okay, I'm going to do a lot of Googling in this particular podcast because I'm already
5:31
doing it.
5:32
Gary, I want to say, oh crap, five love language.
5:36
He's on our book list and I already forgot the guy's name.
5:38
Come on, Kyle.
5:39
Gary Chapman.
5:40
Okay.
5:41
I wanted to say a different Gary, but okay, I'm glad I looked it up.
5:43
So Gary Chapman, he wrote this book, went into this book release.
5:45
It's like probably 20 or 30 years old, but it breaks down, it breaks down the five different
5:49
love languages.
5:50
Okay.
5:51
And so let me see if I can actually remember off top my head.
5:52
So words of affirmation, gifts, acts of service, quality time, physical touch, boom.
5:58
Maybe and for those of you who are watching, I literally was looking off camera away from
6:02
my screens to name those five.
6:04
I usually get four out of five for whatever reason, but basically what that book is.
6:08
There's nothing really magical about the book, right?
6:10
It's pretty straightforward, but what it does is it kind of gives you a scaffolding for how
6:14
to fill your spouse's love tank.
6:16
So if you're familiar with that language, you'll know what I'm talking about, but if not, basically
6:20
the way that you receive love is not necessarily the way that your spouse receives love.
6:25
So again, let's go the script or list of words of affirmation, acts of service, gifts
6:29
or giving gifts, quality time, physical touch.
6:32
So let's say your spouse, your wife is a quality time person.
6:37
And you are an acts of service person.
6:40
What you might do for your spouse is a bunch of acts of service because that's how you
6:43
like to receive love.
6:44
Okay.
6:45
So you're just doing stuff around the house and you're doing projects and you're fixing
6:48
stuff and you're remodeling things and blah, blah and all those things and the whole time
6:51
your wife is just kind of sitting there quietly being like, man, I wish she would just come
6:53
over here and sit down and talk to me, right?
6:56
Kind of see what I'm saying.
6:57
So her love tank takes a particular kind of fuel and that's quality time and you keep
7:00
giving her acts of service.
7:02
It's like putting, you know, unleaded in a diesel or vice versa or something like that.
7:05
But here's the interesting thing about my wife and her love language is the first time
7:09
we took the love language test, which I guess you can just go to, you know, what is a five
7:12
love languages.com and you can do the tests and all that.
7:15
I'll tell you what yours is.
7:16
Have your spice do their your spouse do theirs and you can kind of go from there is when
7:20
we first took that when we were going through marriage counseling versus whenever she took
7:24
it again, like a few years ago, her primary and secondary love language changed.
7:29
And so that's, I guess the thing that I would want to kind of put out there with this particular
7:32
question is, is you guys got to make sure that you are speaking your wife's current
7:37
love language.
7:38
And for the ladies out here that are listening to this, we appreciate you that you're speaking
7:41
your husband's current love language because if you're not speaking their current love
7:45
language, it might be an issue for you because maybe they used to be quality time.
7:48
You're giving a lot of quality time, but now they kind of moved over to words of affirmation.
7:52
That's a little bit different.
7:53
And the physical touch one isn't what you think.
7:54
So even if it was physical touch, maybe it's not the type of touch that you're doing when
7:58
you're doing it.
7:59
So for me, I guess for me, it's just constantly reminding myself of kind of what, what I'm
8:04
doing and how it's pertaining to her and how she's going through life at that moment.
8:08
Now, I will say the last few years since we had our first born and now we've got, you
8:12
know, an infant, things have changed considerably in terms of how we even communicate because
8:17
in large degree, we're just hanging on by our fingernails, right?
8:20
We don't have family around here.
8:21
We don't really have a lot of help.
8:22
All the help that we do get, we have to pay for and we do, we try to ball out, but we try
8:26
to ball out on a budget kind of a thing.
8:28
And so that's kind of one of those deals for us is we don't have as much time as we want
8:32
to basically feed into one another, even though that is wildly, wildly important.
8:35
But right now, I'm just trying to do everything I can to not, you know, make her angry.
8:39
She's trying to do everything she can to not make me angry.
8:41
We're trying to help each other out while helping the kids out and keep them alive.
8:45
So it's a bit of a crazy situation.
8:46
But in general, when your life kind of finds that stasis when it kind of levels out or something
8:50
like that, you really need to focus on this.
8:52
Now I'm not going to say, Hey, every year you need to take this five love languages test
8:56
just to make sure, but if it's been a while, if it's been three, four, five years.
9:01
I mean, guys, just think about how different you were when you went to college and when
9:04
you graduated.
9:05
Think about how different you were when you got your first job versus, you know, five
9:09
years into that first job, like you're going to change quite a bit as a person.
9:12
You're going to have different opinions.
9:13
You're going to go about things a different way.
9:14
A lot of guys have looked at our podcast and looked at the stuff that we do.
9:17
And they're like, dude, I'm so different just because I've been listening to your podcast
9:20
for the last few months.
9:21
And it's like, okay, that thing that happens in life as well.
9:24
That happens with your love languages.
9:25
So every few years, you should probably take that test just to kind of see where you are.
9:29
And you could even use that book as kind of a good checkup thing.
9:32
So I'm totally fine with that.
9:34
We are live from Feddi's house guests are gathering around the TV, even with a big storm
9:39
outside.
9:40
Are we worried about the fee?
9:41
Nope.
9:42
They have Xfinity Wi-Fi.
9:43
Get reliable fiber power gig Wi-Fi with peacock included to stream the beautiful game
9:45
this summer.
9:46
Xfinity.
9:47
Imagine that restrictions apply new gig internet customers only actual speeds vary offer for
9:50
peacock premium with ads currently at $10.99 a month value and limited to Xfinity internet
9:53
members with newer upgraded gig speed or faster service activation required to access content
9:56
peacock must be activated within first 90 days management of existing subscriptions may
9:59
be required to avoid multiple subscriptions and duplicate charges third party built subscriptions
10:03
continue until canceled.
10:04
All right.
10:05
Next Q and A question here.
10:07
What do I do when somebody asks me to refer to them by pronouns that do not match their
10:11
biological sex?
10:12
What about people that want me to refer to them by a new name?
10:16
Okay.
10:17
So let's take the second question and then go back to the first one in terms of the new
10:19
name stuff.
10:20
Like I'm totally fine with that.
10:23
So if somebody legally changes their name or even if they don't legally change their
10:27
name, they just prefer to go by a different name.
10:29
And it's a serious name.
10:30
It's not like something vulgar or something like sexual or something stupid that you would
10:34
never say in public.
10:35
But like I use my son as example, because a lot of people named James go by Jimmy or
10:39
Jim or something like that, that's not on his birth certificate and it never would be
10:42
because if I wanted him to be named Jimmy, I would have just named him Jimmy.
10:45
But if he asked somebody to call him Jimmy, a teacher or somebody at work, they should
10:49
just go along with that.
10:50
It's just, it's just a name.
10:52
The same thing would be said if somebody out there, you know, named Carl decides they're
10:57
a woman and now they want to be called Carla.
10:59
If they want to be called Carla, if that's their name, I say go for it.
11:02
It doesn't really matter.
11:03
People that like use someone's old name to try to prove the point that I'm about to talk
11:06
about.
11:07
I don't really get that.
11:08
So like if I met Caitlyn Jenner, I would not call him Bruce.
11:11
Okay.
11:12
Because his chosen name now is Caitlyn.
11:15
It's weird.
11:16
It's silly.
11:17
It doesn't make sense.
11:18
But I'm going to call him Caitlyn.
11:19
Let's get back to the first question, which is would I do when somebody asks me to refer
11:22
to them by pronouns that do not match their biological sex?
11:25
I disagree with a lot of people here, especially the really, really nice squeaky clean conservatives
11:31
or Christians in saying that you should never refer to somebody that in a way that doesn't
11:37
align with their biological sex if you know it.
11:40
And there are very, very, very few people on this planet that you that you can't just
11:44
look at them and know what gender they are to know whether or not they are male or female
11:48
and yes, there are only those two options.
11:51
But if someone demands, I talked about this a while ago with the stuff at UCO, my alma mater,
11:54
where they're like, Hey, you know, they have a pronoun policy now.
11:57
And so let's say, you know, for a fact that this is a male standing in front of you, but
12:01
they demand that you compelled speech wise that you use feminine pronouns.
12:06
She her hers, those types of things.
12:08
No, you should not go along with that.
12:10
And part of it, and I've talked about this with other people and I've challenged a guy
12:14
like Justin Briarley because he had a transgender person on his show.
12:17
And he decided to use their preferred pronouns that didn't align with their biological sex.
12:21
And I kind of called him out and I'm like, bro, like you're supposed to stand up for
12:24
truth as a Christian.
12:26
And yet you're playing into this delusion that this person is the opposite gender.
12:31
And they do it because they're like, Oh, I don't want to be needlessly offensive.
12:34
And I want to be loving to my neighbor and all those different things.
12:36
But I've used this example before that if your neighbor identified as a furry, there
12:41
are people out there that are furries that they identify as animals.
12:44
Would you invite them over for dinner and give them their food on the ground?
12:49
Would you take them out on a walk so that they could go use the bathroom?
12:52
Would you do that with?
12:53
I mean, that would be loving according to that logic.
12:56
There are people that identify as furniture.
12:59
Would you sit on them after you were done with dinner?
13:02
Would you lounge back on them because they identify as a sofa?
13:06
I don't think so.
13:07
And I bet you wouldn't make the argument that those things would be loving.
13:10
And so in that aspect, like no, as Christians, we are supposed to stand up for the truth.
13:15
And the truth is that God made them male and female, male and female.
13:18
He created them.
13:19
Okay.
13:20
That's it.
13:21
There's only male and female and you're not assigned that at birth.
13:24
It is a parent at birth.
13:26
It is a parent at that exact moment, right?
13:29
We can literally look at your genitalia, but even down to your DNA, even down to your
13:34
chromosomes, we know what you are.
13:37
It's either XX or XY in almost 100% of cases.
13:41
Okay.
13:42
And so enough with this trying to appease everyone and just say, Oh, well, we want to
13:46
be nice and we don't want to be needlessly offensive.
13:49
The thing the way around it guys is to not use pronouns at all.
13:51
Just use somebody's chosen name.
13:54
So if you're really worried about somebody that's clearly a man that wants you to call
13:57
him, you know, she her to choose the person's name.
14:00
If you really want to get around it, but if push comes to shove, you better stand up
14:03
for truth.
14:04
Cause that's your job.
14:05
Guys, next Q and A question here, what Bible translations do you like and do you read
14:10
any commentaries?
14:11
And so, yes, absolutely.
14:12
I use the ESV, the English standard version at my church.
14:16
Our pastor uses the NASB version.
14:18
I'm fine with both.
14:20
You know, I don't really, I'm not really one of those people that's like, if you read
14:23
a different version, like you're stupid or going to hell, unless you read the message,
14:26
which guys, what is that exactly?
14:28
I'm not sure what those words are supposed to mean, but it doesn't even vaguely seem
14:32
like scripture.
14:33
But yes, I'll actually grab my Bibles here.
14:37
So let's see.
14:38
All right.
14:40
So this one right here, this is my ESV, the Reformation study Bible.
14:44
And so you won't be able to see this, but basically there's the scripture on top and
14:47
then on bottom, there's some commentary there.
14:49
So that's the Reformation Bible.
14:52
So one of my commentaries here is the MacArthur Bible commentary.
14:56
That is absolutely fantastic.
14:57
Another Bible here.
14:58
All right.
14:59
I've got the ESV study Bible.
15:01
Just the regular one.
15:02
And I mean, I know so many people that have this.
15:04
So fantastic.
15:05
Fantastic Bible.
15:06
All right.
15:07
I'll grab the rest.
15:09
So the rest of the ones on my stack.
15:10
So this is just an ESV note Bible.
15:12
So it has really wide margins being take notes in it.
15:14
So that's a good one, but there's no commentary in that one.
15:17
This is one that I just got here recently.
15:18
I haven't had a whole lot of time to dig into it, but this is actually systematic theology
15:22
by Raine Grutam.
15:23
So that's, that's an awesome one.
15:24
So I guess that's technically a commentary, even though it's a systematic theology, whatever.
15:28
And then another commentary I use is the Moody Bible commentary.
15:32
And another thing is like whenever you're doing any type of a scripture reading or scriptural
15:36
study or something like that, there are so many different websites out there where you
15:39
can get all these different commentaries just by plugging in, you know, plug in, you
15:43
know, John to verse 10, and then you can just get all these different commentaries through
15:48
Google.
15:49
So those are the ones that I like.
15:50
So if you like something else out there, I don't really care.
15:52
Good for you.
15:53
I read the ESV.
15:54
It works for me.
15:55
All right.
15:56
Next question here.
15:57
So this is an interesting question, and I'll give you my answer and then we'll back into
16:04
it.
16:05
And I'm going to say, yes, he is a boring fighter.
16:07
Okay.
16:08
So I'm going to actually Google this because I want to actually look at his fights in the
16:12
UFC and kind of point something out because the reason why this is even a question right
16:16
now is because of his last performance in his last title fight against Jared Canoneer
16:21
and this was at UFC 276 back in July.
16:24
And so that was a unanimous decision when I think he won all five rounds.
16:28
It wasn't particularly close.
16:29
Neither one of them really looked like they had been in a fight afterwards, and the crowd
16:32
was booing throughout.
16:34
To be honest, this was one of the few title fights that I just went to bed.
16:38
I can't remember what fight was right before that, but I literally went to sleep because
16:43
I was like, I know what's going to happen.
16:45
Jared Canoneer is going to basically stare at him like he's staring at the Mona Lisa.
16:49
There's not going to be any action.
16:50
And if I miss a knockout, I don't care.
16:51
I'm going to sleep, right?
16:52
I got to go to church in the morning, but that kind of opened up the narrative for the
16:56
first time for a lot of people, which was, is he a boring fighter?
17:01
And this is why I'm going to say a guy like him probably is a boring fighter, okay?
17:05
And it's because he's had so many fights like the one with Jared Canoneer and just like
17:11
with the Jared Canoneer fight, everybody blames the opponent, not Israel out of Sonya.
17:17
And their excuse is the same after every single one of these stinker performances.
17:22
It's like, well, what is on his, on his supposed to do?
17:24
He's the champ.
17:25
Like, why does he have to go out there and try to knock the guy out?
17:27
Why does he have to get the big performance?
17:29
Right?
17:30
It's up to the other guy to take the bell off of him, not for him to prove that he should
17:33
keep it.
17:34
It seems like it makes sense, except for the fact that Israel out of Sonya is trying to
17:39
be the greatest fighter ever.
17:42
And so I remember when I first started paying attention to this, it was when he called out
17:46
YOL Romero.
17:47
Okay.
17:48
So he fought YOL Romero at UFC 248 in March of 2020, okay?
17:52
So I remember when he called out YOL Romero and me thinking, man, that is one of the most
17:55
gangster things.
17:56
He called out the scariest dude in the division and he said, Hey, I got to fight the boogie
18:01
man, or else my legacy is not going to be intact regardless of where I end up, okay?
18:06
But then he went out there and guys, if you haven't watched the fight, don't.
18:09
It's ridiculous.
18:10
And he basically stood in front of YOL Romero and did point karate for 25 minutes.
18:17
And you know, just basically did some leg kicks, did some stuff here or there, won a
18:20
unanimous decision and then the rest of us moved on and everybody blamed YOL Romero.
18:25
Oh, why did YOL Romero not do anything when Israel out of Sonya wasn't coming forward
18:29
either.
18:30
And the excuse is always a, you know, he's a reactionary fighter and he wants you to,
18:33
to overextend so that he can counter like he's a counter puncher and all those different
18:36
things.
18:37
And it's like, yeah, I get it.
18:38
But then they compared it to Anderson Silva, but during Anderson Silva's prime, which is
18:42
where Israel out of Sonya is right now in his prime, he was finishing everybody in, in
18:47
brutal, astonishing fashion.
18:50
But here's the thing.
18:51
So let's go through the fights.
18:52
Israel has had in his career that were really exciting fights.
18:55
So we'll start from the beginning of his, his UFC career, which was back when he beat
19:00
Rob Wilkinson at UFC 221 of February, 2018.
19:05
So that fight he won by TKO.
19:08
He won via split decision to Marvin Vittori snoozer of a fight.
19:12
He breed, he beat Brad Tavares, unanimous decision snoozer of a fight.
19:16
He TKO Derek Brunson, Derek Brunson did not look good in that fight as he looked amazing.
19:20
His, his fighting against Anderson Silva, UFC 234, everyone's like, Oh, this is a passing
19:24
in the guard.
19:25
At this point, Anderson Silva's career, he hadn't won a fight in forever.
19:28
I think he was on a six or seven fight losing streak in Israel, out of Sonya actually lost
19:33
the second round to Anderson Silva.
19:35
So everyone's like, Oh, it was a great win.
19:36
No, it was an embarrassing win that he had to eat it out in the third round of that fight.
19:40
Kelvin Gasolam.
19:41
That is one of the greatest fights you'll ever see.
19:42
Israel.
19:43
Gasolam Israel to sound approved in that moment, like you could see him his mouth moving before
19:47
the fifth round started.
19:48
He said, Hey, I'm prepared to die.
19:50
Like, you know, he went out there.
19:51
That was one of the greatest fights you'll ever see.
19:53
But then he did the fight against Robert Whittaker, which he knocked him out.
19:56
Obviously a great performance.
19:57
Robert Whittaker was way aggressive in that fight.
20:00
Got caught and got taken out.
20:01
Then there was a fight I just talked about with Yole Romero, Stinker, Paula Costa embarrassed
20:04
him.
20:05
You know, it was, it was a horrible fight for Paula Costa.
20:08
Great, great performance by Israel.
20:09
Right, then he fought against Jan Bohovitch, tried to win the 205 belt and Jan beat him
20:14
basically by taking him down twice, right?
20:16
Super boring fight, then Marvin Vittoria again, super boring fight, then Robert Whittaker
20:21
again, sort of close fight, but it was mainly just kind of point, point fighting back and
20:25
forth.
20:26
And then you had the Stinker against Jared Kananier.
20:29
So we've got a bunch of stinkers, a bunch of boring fights.
20:32
And then we've got some of these unbelievably spectacular performances.
20:36
Okay.
20:37
So I think the narrative is warranted for a guy like Israel, out of Sonya to where it's
20:41
like, look, dude, you're trying to be Mr. Everything.
20:44
You're trying to be relevant in culture, not just in the octagon.
20:47
But when all anyone can talk about after your fights is how cool your intro was, like where
20:52
you walked to the, the octagon, like walking in as undertaker or walking in doing some sort
20:56
of breakdance or something like that.
20:58
When more people are talking about that than your performance in the octagon, something's
21:01
out of whack.
21:02
So I'm still going to pay attention to Israel, out of Sonya.
21:05
He's got a big fight coming up, you know, later on this year at Madison Square Garden.
21:09
Like he's a big fighter who fights in big fights on big fight cards.
21:12
So I'm going to watch him.
21:13
But guys, don't be shocked if he continues to have performances like this, because overall
21:18
he has the skill set to be one of the greatest fighters ever, if not the greatest fighter
21:22
ever.
21:23
But for the most part, most of his fights are pretty boring.
21:25
All right.
21:26
Next question here.
21:27
Actually, this is funny.
21:28
I actually got lots of questions about my water bottle that I use, which to any of you
21:33
guys that just listen to the show, you're like, why does that matter?
21:36
But to those of you on YouTube and rumble, apparently that matters a lot.
21:38
Okay.
21:39
So the first question is, why do your water, why does your water look so dirty?
21:42
Okay.
21:43
So I'm holding it up to the screen right now.
21:44
My water actually looks pretty clear.
21:46
But the reason why my water does look dirty whenever I sneak a sip of water in, it's because
21:50
I add a little something to my water, which I forgot to do before the show.
21:55
But you'll see this.
21:56
So I'll kind of shake it up so you can kind of see there's this like potion that I make
22:00
that I have in an old Buffalo trace bottle because it's easy to pour out of.
22:04
But basically I will add, you know, a teaspoon or so to each one of my big deals of water
22:09
whenever I go to fill it up.
22:12
But what this is, is it's pink Himalayan sea salt kind of melted into water.
22:19
And so my dentist last time I went to the dentist is like, yeah, you know, I'm afraid
22:22
you're not really getting the nutrients you need from water.
22:24
You know, they filter so much stuff out, you know, you should do what I do give it a try.
22:28
You know, he basically does three parts of water to one part pink Himalayan sea salt
22:33
and he boils that and then he basically bottles that up and he adds it to his water.
22:37
So as you can see, for those of you watching, my, my, you know, it's really, really, uh,
22:41
whatever that be called smokey or foggy.
22:45
There you go.
22:46
Kind of foggy right now.
22:47
Go ahead and take a sip.
22:48
But basically it kind of salts the water down and is supposed to give you more nutrients.
22:51
It's kind of like with some vitamins that I take.
22:53
I don't know if it's doing anything, but it's not going to harm me in any way, shape or
22:57
form.
22:58
Some eyes will give it a try.
22:59
So that's why my water looks dirty sometimes also.
23:02
Yes.
23:03
What stickers are on my water bottle?
23:04
So first to guy got is one of the tests on don't to life stickers that we did back
23:08
in the day.
23:09
This is a company called hardcore carnivores.
23:11
They do like meat rubs and things like that.
23:13
So I just thought it was a cool name, uh, howler brothers, they make a shirts and stuff,
23:17
but cool logo.
23:18
I have an I voted sticker that's all worn out because, you know, that's the way that
23:22
you show that you're civically virtuous is by wearing the I voted sticker.
23:26
Um, I've got near fall right there.
23:27
So those are the guys that they're out of Amarillo, Texas.
23:30
They made our first T shirts and also our first rash guard.
23:33
So a great company.
23:34
They do wrestling gear.
23:35
So if you need wrestling gear for your wrestling team, your youth wrestling team or something
23:37
like that, check out near fall, then this is a, a sticker for native summit, which is
23:42
kind of like a gear shop here in, in Edmond, Oklahoma, where I live.
23:46
So it's like, you know, hiking gear and, you know, summer gear and camping gear and outdoorsy
23:50
type stuff.
23:51
So that's a great little shop.
23:52
So those are the stickers that are on my water ball.
23:54
So next question about my water bottle, why do you use a straw?
23:58
Okay.
23:59
So I use a straw for this reason right here.
24:02
I just took a quick sip of water because if you're not drinking through a straw and you're
24:06
trying to take a quick sip of something, you've got a better than zero chance of pouring
24:10
it on yourself.
24:11
Okay.
24:12
And so I'm not trying to get water all over my keyboard and my mouse and my pants and my
24:15
shirt and all those different things.
24:16
And so whenever I'm needing just a quick sip, because my mouth's getting dry or during interview
24:20
or something like that, I just take a quick sip.
24:23
It's no big deal.
24:24
All right, guys.
24:25
Don't try to imply anything because I'm using a straw.
24:28
There are a bunch of manly men and there have been manly men throughout history that have
24:31
used straws.
24:32
You crazy big it.
24:33
Last question here about my water bottle is how often do you pee, which I guess is related
24:36
and the answer is all the time.
24:40
I am constantly peeing.
24:42
I just drink and drink and drink because, because again, I don't drink soda.
24:46
Like the only things that I drink, I basically drink water.
24:49
I drink Gatorade and occasionally I drink whiskey, right?
24:52
That's about it, but I'm constantly drinking water.
24:54
I've got water by my bedside.
24:56
I'm as hydrated as just about anyone that you know, but that's why I'm just basically
25:00
using the restroom all the time.
25:01
So it's a miracle.
25:02
I can make it through one of these podcasts.
25:04
All right.
25:05
Next Q and A question here.
25:06
Why does this?
25:08
Why does it seem like you hate school teachers?
25:10
Okay.
25:11
So I think I've talked about this before.
25:12
I don't know if it's been on Q and A, but I have brought it up before.
25:15
I know it seems like I've got it out for school teachers, you know, that I go after the teachers
25:20
unions and all these other different things, and maybe I'm jaded because I had bad teachers.
25:23
Here's the thing.
25:24
I went to one of the better schools in Oklahoma.
25:26
I went to Lottinize and Howard, which at the time in 2000, early 2000s or whatever, one
25:30
of the better schools in the state.
25:33
And I had good teachers because I was in, you know, pre-AP and AP classes and honors
25:36
classes and all that.
25:37
But I can say without a doubt that I can count on one hand and still have fingers left of
25:42
the number of teachers I had growing up that took an interest in me individually and seemed
25:47
to really, really care whether or not I learned the subject matter, okay?
25:51
Which I kind of feel like is the bare minimum for being a teacher, okay?
25:55
So without getting into all the stuff, the craziness now about, you know, teachers wanting
25:59
to know your, your gender and wanting to know your sexual history and wanting you to ask
26:03
them about theirs and all that, the reason why it seems like I'm kind of down on teachers
26:08
is because they act like we're supposed to worship them for the most part.
26:13
And this all goes back to when the state of Oklahoma, when the teachers were basically
26:16
picketing outside the state capital because they wanted raises, okay?
26:19
And they're comparing us to Texas and they're comparing us to all these other states.
26:22
And look, we're using, we're losing our teacher of the year to this state and we got to keep
26:25
our teachers here and blah, blah, and all these things.
26:27
But here's the deal.
26:29
All the people that teach K through 12 public school education are doing it by choice.
26:35
They chose to do that.
26:37
They chose to go to school and get a degree in education.
26:41
They chose to get a teaching certificate.
26:42
They chose to get, they get a master's in education.
26:45
They chose to apply to the job at the school that they ended up taking the job at, right?
26:50
That's all them.
26:52
And they knew the entire way that they weren't going to get paid very much to do it.
26:56
They weren't going to get paid very much.
26:58
It wasn't like these people were shocked when they were given their first offer or their
27:02
first contract and they weren't a millionaire immediately.
27:05
These people knew that and then they just complain and complain and lament about the things
27:09
that they don't have.
27:11
And they always ask for the same thing, more money.
27:14
I want to get paid more, I need more educational funding.
27:16
What I never hear any of these teachers talk about is educational outcomes.
27:22
I need this money so that things can be better.
27:24
Because when you start making that argument, we can actually go to the data of how much
27:28
money you're getting per capita per student.
27:31
And then we can compare that with the educational outcomes, the graduation rates and the test
27:36
scores and all these different things to see if that's actually working.
27:39
And they don't want to make that argument because it's typically not a very good correlation.
27:42
Okay?
27:43
So when you complain and complain and complain, and yet you never talk about the thing that
27:48
I would be concerned about as a parent that would have a kid in your classroom is how
27:53
is this going to help my kid learn?
27:55
How is this going to help their peers all rise together?
27:58
How is that going to help?
27:59
So that's part of my problem with these teachers.
28:01
They want to get paid more.
28:02
They want to do all these other things, but also it's this idea that somehow they're on
28:07
the same plane as people that work out in the private sector.
28:11
Because if you pro rate what they make for 12 months, which they don't work 12 months,
28:17
they work nine to 10 months out of the year.
28:20
If you pro rate that, they actually make more in their job as a teacher than most people
28:24
do in their average jobs.
28:26
Again, you know, that's a wide swath because you have, you know, lawyers making a million
28:30
dollars a year.
28:31
And then you have, you know, somebody that that works at a, you know, a mill or something
28:34
like that that's probably making 35 40, 40 thousand dollars a year.
28:37
Like I get that.
28:38
It's a, it's a dearth of information.
28:40
And again, they just complain about what they don't have and how much money they don't have,
28:43
but they never complain about the vacations.
28:46
The two months off in the summer, spring break, fall break, Christmas break, Thanksgiving
28:50
break in the private sector, like you got to ask for that time and you don't want to don't
28:54
always get it.
28:56
If you're running a business, you don't have time off.
28:58
Like I don't remember the last time I took like a week off, right?
29:01
Certainly not two months off at a time.
29:03
And so we're just, we're just supposed to sit here and look at these people and like
29:07
be like, oh, these poor teachers, they had to spend money on pencils.
29:10
Okay.
29:11
Well, you have a lot of people giving you money.
29:14
You have a lot of people paying.
29:15
And then you also demand that the parents of these people basically stock up your classrooms.
29:19
What are you complaining about?
29:21
What are you complaining about?
29:22
Exactly.
29:23
And the other thing is again, and then I'll leave it here, this, this idea that they're
29:26
a homogenous group of heroes.
29:28
I hate that.
29:29
There are no homogenous groups here in this country.
29:32
All cops are not good.
29:33
All soldiers are not good.
29:35
All firefighters are not good and all teachers are not good.
29:38
Now in general, I can back the blue, right?
29:41
I can back all first responders.
29:43
I can, you know, support the troops and I can support teachers, right?
29:46
I can do all those different things while at the same time saying that there are some
29:50
bad eggs in any potential system that allows those bad eggs to stay in that job to the detriment
29:56
of children's development is a bad system, which is exactly what the teaching system
30:00
is here in this, in the United States, you have these tenured teachers or these teachers
30:04
that have been around for a while that suck.
30:06
They suck in every way that someone could suck and they just keep getting their job.
30:10
They keep getting paid.
30:11
They keep paying their dues to the teachers union, which is basically negotiating against
30:15
the taxpayer for their benefit and they keep getting raises.
30:18
Why is that a good thing?
30:20
So each teacher should be looked at individually.
30:23
Now I would say that the majority of them probably care and they're probably not horrible
30:27
at their job.
30:28
But again, looking at them as a, as if they're this homogenous group of heroic sacrificial
30:33
people that only care about the students, I think is ridiculous and short-sighted.
30:37
All right.
30:38
Next Q and A question here.
30:40
You are obviously a very conservative guy, but don't you think it would be prudent at
30:44
times to try to be more moderate?
30:47
So this is an interesting question.
30:49
And I'll tell you my answer right from the beginning.
30:50
No.
30:51
And this is why because I've had a lot of time to view people that would consider themselves
30:57
to be moderates, to be independents, to be centrist.
31:02
But what I have also found about those people is not that they're, you know, erudite or
31:07
that they're really deep and they really spend a lot of time thinking about both sides and
31:11
in all this different stuff.
31:12
And gosh, they just can't quite make a call.
31:15
What I see is people that haven't really thought through the issues that far.
31:19
So let's use an extreme example, abortion.
31:22
Who's a centrist on abortion?
31:25
Can you even be a centrist on abortion?
31:28
Because I don't think you can either believe that is a living human being inside that woman's
31:34
womb that deserves our protection as a society or you don't.
31:38
Do you think it's a meaningless clump of cells until it comes out of the vaginal canal?
31:42
At which point then we are able to protect it, which doesn't make any sense, but you kind
31:47
of see what I'm saying.
31:48
What's the middle road on that?
31:49
Oh, okay.
31:50
You know what?
31:51
We'll just kill babies after 12 weeks.
31:52
Nah, you got me.
31:53
Okay.
31:54
Compromise.
31:55
Clink our glasses together and move on.
31:56
Right.
31:57
That's true with pick any topic, taxation, immigration, you know, funding for school systems, foreign
32:04
aid, wars, all these different things.
32:07
Why would you want to be moderate?
32:09
Like, don't be lukewarm.
32:11
Like I need you to be hot or cold and I'm not talking about that in terms of scripture.
32:14
I'm literally talking about you either need to have a fully fledged decision on this and
32:20
it's binary.
32:21
You're either on this side or on that side.
32:22
You're a zero or a one.
32:23
You're black or white.
32:24
You're off or one.
32:25
Like that.
32:26
That's it.
32:27
People that feign being moderate or feign independence.
32:30
They're not really that.
32:31
They're either they're either not spending too much time actually reckoning with the things
32:35
to where they can make a call and or they're a coward and they don't want to make a call.
32:40
They think it makes them seem smarter somehow that they're a middle of the road person,
32:45
that they're registered as an independent, which basically makes their vote completely
32:49
moot, except for once every four years or something like that.
32:53
You know, that that's the thing that I don't really understand.
32:55
I think it's it's similar to when people pretend to like, you know, music or movies
33:00
that are really obscure that no one actually really likes, but all the, you know, fashionistas
33:05
really like it and all the, you know, the critics really like it and all the people at
33:08
the New Yorker and all that.
33:10
They really like it.
33:11
And so for this person to seem interesting, they're like, Oh, yeah, I like the movie.
33:14
I got it.
33:15
Yeah, I know it's kind of hard to get, but, you know, if you really watch it with an open
33:19
mind, I bet you'd really get it.
33:21
You should give it another try.
33:22
Like that kind of person.
33:23
Oh, yeah, I know you listened to a few tracks off that album, but man, really, if you like
33:27
just sit down and just, man, clear your head and, you know, just, just smoke a bowl and
33:32
then just listen to it again, man, like just, I think it'll be okay.
33:35
And I'm not saying that every citrus is a pothead, but I think these people are not
33:39
really being accurate about their point of view.
33:42
Again, that's the people that are just basically faking it, but the other side, I just think
33:46
people have not really thought through most of these issues to where they pick a side,
33:49
right?
33:50
Now, does that mean that you're always going to come down on the conservative side or
33:53
the Republican side or the liberal side or the Democratic side?
33:55
No, but when you have these issues, you'd need to be able to make a call.
33:59
You can't be a centrist on guns.
34:01
You either believe in the Second Amendment and that it's a good thing in total or you
34:05
don't.
34:06
Like you can't believe in terms of immigration that our Southern border should be wide open
34:10
and you understand why some people want to build a wall that doesn't really make a lot
34:13
of sense.
34:14
All right.
34:15
Next Q&A question here.
34:16
Why don't you post a TikTok anymore?
34:17
So this one actually be pretty quick.
34:19
So when TikTok was getting really big, you know, I grabbed, you know, at Undaunted Life
34:22
is the name because I didn't want somebody else to grab or something like that.
34:24
And I felt like a lot of the attraction and a lot of the traffic was going over there.
34:28
But to be honest with you, I don't need another thing.
34:31
I don't need another social media that I need to be worried about posting.
34:34
Like today I was like, Oh my gosh, I haven't posted on Instagram yet.
34:36
And you know, did that post to Facebook or is it a real?
34:38
Which one actually posts Facebook?
34:40
Even though Facebook has reels and you're like trying to do the math and trying to keep
34:42
everything straight.
34:43
Well, you know, it's just like it's too much.
34:46
And then you've got obviously that the Chinese have made this app.
34:48
It's making Americans dumber, it's making it harder for everybody to, you know, focus
34:52
on all those different things.
34:54
Now I use TikTok because I love finding stuff on there.
34:56
The algorithm understands me now and understands you guys so that I can take that stuff and
35:00
post it on Instagram and on Facebook or something like that.
35:02
But for us, it's like, if we're going to make content, I want it to be excellent content.
35:06
And there are already a bunch of great TikTok creators out there, even in the Christian space
35:11
and something like that.
35:12
So I don't really know that there's anything right now that we would add to it.
35:14
So we're just not doing that.
35:16
All right.
35:17
Next question here.
35:18
Take teasing big things coming in 2023.
35:20
What do you have in store for us?
35:23
So I put this question in there because I've been asked a lot about it and I was just going
35:29
to wait to see how it's feeling whenever I went to record this episode to see if I would
35:33
reveal some of the stuff.
35:34
And you know what?
35:35
I'm not feeling extra charitable.
35:36
So I'm going to just kind of leave you guys, you know, maybe I'll give you a few hints.
35:39
So for those of you that like the devotionals we put out before, maybe there's going to be
35:44
some additions in that area.
35:45
For those of you that like our podcast and want to see some more episodes that maybe
35:49
have a unique flavor that do things a little bit differently and perhaps even bring in
35:53
some voices that you've never heard from before, maybe that's something to look forward to
35:57
in 2023.
35:58
But all you guys need to know is that, again, everything we do cost money.
36:02
We need you guys to help us and support us, you know, become donors so that we can do
36:06
those things.
36:07
But we're constantly looking out for opportunities to do things that are going to help edify you
36:09
guys and equip you to be able to push back darkness.
36:12
So at the very least, you can expect more of that in 2023.
36:15
All right.
36:16
Next question here.
36:17
Do you think Jesus would watch MMA?
36:19
So I got into a very, very short back and forth with a guy a while ago with some DMs because
36:24
I think I posted, I posted some video of a fighter like I maybe, maybe his nose is broken
36:29
or maybe it was a hike.
36:30
I can't remember exactly what it was, but it was MMA related thing and someone sent me
36:33
a DM and basically said, yeah, Jesus wouldn't watch that and you shouldn't, you know, support
36:37
something that, you know, where some people are trying to destroy the Amago day or something
36:41
like that.
36:42
So going back to the core of the question, do I think Jesus would watch MMA?
36:46
Yeah.
36:47
Why wouldn't he like why, why wouldn't he, it's a sport.
36:52
It's a sport where there are physical consequences if the other person is better than you.
36:57
Now you see it and this guy doesn't train the guy that did this, like you could just tell
37:01
by the things he was saying, he's never trained a day in his life, probably never been punched
37:04
in the face.
37:05
Definitely, definitely hasn't been part of a grappling exchange.
37:08
This guy literally knows nothing about that world.
37:11
So what he sees is what John McCain saw back in the day, you know, he saw human, human
37:16
cock fighting, right?
37:18
Like he saw, he saw these, you know, horrible men trying to destroy each other and try to
37:21
bloody each other and punch each other in the nuts and rip their testicles off and, you
37:24
know, gouge out their eyes.
37:25
Like that's what he saw.
37:26
Okay.
37:27
He doesn't see a sport.
37:29
But again, if you think about it in the way that I just described and the way that I just
37:33
described it is it's a sport where there are physical consequences if the other person
37:37
is better than you.
37:39
And I just described a lot of different sports out there that I'm sure this guy would be
37:43
okay with.
37:44
How about football?
37:47
Typically the more physical team is going to win.
37:50
You are physically dominating the other people and it starts in the trenches with the offensive
37:54
and defensive line.
37:56
And then it's a full back that's trying to open up the hole.
37:58
Then it's the running back making contact and trying to break that first contact to gain
38:02
more yardage, right?
38:04
It's somebody coming across the middle and a safety or a linebacker punishing that person
38:09
for doing that, making it harder for them to do that in the future.
38:13
It is really does all come down to physical violence wrestling.
38:18
You're trying to physically subdue somebody and pin them on their back.
38:22
You're trying to be superior to them where there is a physical consequence them if they're
38:26
not as good as you are.
38:29
So that's what MMA is.
38:32
Are you punching each other in the face?
38:33
Yes.
38:34
Is this a fight like it is out on the street?
38:37
No.
38:38
Because in almost 100% of the cases as soon as the fight is over, the two combatants,
38:44
they shake hands.
38:45
They give each other a little bro hug.
38:46
They shake hands with the opposite team's coaches and they move on.
38:49
It is a sport.
38:50
It is a sport.
38:52
This isn't a street fight.
38:53
This isn't warfare, any of those things.
38:55
This is a sport.
38:57
And if you would say that Jesus wouldn't watch it, then you're telling every Christian that
39:01
currently fights an MMA or has ever fought an MMA that what they're doing is ungodly
39:05
in a way.
39:06
So much so that if Jesus were here, he wouldn't watch them.
39:10
And you're also saying that that person cannot glorify God.
39:13
That somehow God cannot use MMA for his glory.
39:19
Are you sure you want to make that argument?
39:21
Are you sure that's the tact that you want to go forward and move forward with?
39:26
Because man, you start doing that and you start just picking out the things that you
39:29
don't understand or the things that you don't like.
39:31
And then that list can start getting really, really, really, really long.
39:34
And I don't think you want to play that game.
39:35
So do I think Jesus would watch MMA?
39:38
Absolutely.
39:39
All right.
39:40
Next question here.
39:41
What are you looking at during?
39:42
What are you looking at during your interviews?
39:44
So for those of you that watched this used to back in the day, I would do a little bit
39:48
more editing to where, you know, both of us would be on the screen, me and the person
39:52
I was talking about.
39:53
And then there'd be the other person on the screen for most of that time, but it extended
39:56
the editing time out way, way, way, way, way, way far.
39:59
And so I was, it was taking away from some of my interview prep and some of the other
40:02
things that I'm doing here for on Daunted Life.
40:03
So I was like, okay, you know what?
40:05
Most people just listen to this anyway.
40:06
So I just put it up there with a split screen with me and the other guy.
40:09
Maybe I'll change that in the future.
40:10
Maybe I won't.
40:11
But during the interview, I'm looking at a lot of different things.
40:14
Okay.
40:15
So over here on my right, I've got the actual recording going on, right?
40:19
So sometimes I will veer off and look over there to kind of see where I'm at, time-wise.
40:22
I'll actually look at the clock.
40:24
You know, I'm looking at my notes and, you know, I can't have their image in the program
40:29
software that I'm using right in front of me and be able to look at my notes and I don't
40:32
want to do my interview like this, or I'm looking over here like this.
40:34
I was like, this isn't 20 or 20 or eight line.
40:36
Like that's, that makes it a little bit awkward.
40:38
But that's essentially what I'm looking at.
40:40
And this kind of goes to the question of, Hey, why didn't you ask this question or why
40:43
didn't you do this follow up or something like that?
40:46
I prepare a lot of questions that have a narrative arc to them to where if the person just answers
40:51
my questions wrote, I can go from this question to this question to this question of this
40:54
question.
40:55
And after 45 minutes to an hour and 15 minutes or whatever, it's going to make a lot of sense
40:58
and be palatable for you.
40:59
And that's why you're going to enjoy the interview.
41:01
But some interviews just absolutely blow up from the beginning.
41:03
I mean that mainly in a good way.
41:05
And so I've got the things that I want to ask them, but also I'm still listening to
41:09
what they're saying because I want, if they say something that's interesting, I want to
41:12
be able to key in on that and ask a follow up because I know you would be asking that
41:16
if you were sitting in my seat, okay?
41:18
So that's what I'm looking at.
41:19
So I'm not sitting there and, you know, make it out my grocery list or sending poems and
41:23
in haikus to my wife or anything like that, like I'm, I'm working, right?
41:27
There are some times when I try, I'll actually mute myself because I need to Google something
41:31
real quick because maybe there was a quote I've forgotten or maybe there was a year that
41:34
I need to look up or something like that.
41:36
So I try to keep all the focus straight.
41:38
I try to be as respectful to the person I'm talking to as possible.
41:40
But if you do see my eyes, my eyes darting around the screen a little bit, that's why.
41:45
Struggling with weight loss, Prolon's five day fasting mimicking diet is a clinically
41:49
developed nutrition program designed to promote fat loss while protecting lean body mass.
41:54
Developed at USC's Longevity Institute, it assists the body in entering a fasting like
41:58
state that helps reset metabolism and target visceral fat.
42:02
In just five days, Prolon offers a science-backed approach to weight loss without extreme restriction
42:07

42:13
All right.
42:14
Next question here.
42:15
Why don't you talk about the Bible or the gospel more?
42:18
And so this question, I remember this question who it came from because they were basically
42:22
saying, hey, you spent a lot of time on the news cycle.
42:23
You spent a lot of time talking about politics.
42:25
And it's like, I mean, why don't you just talk about the gospel?
42:28
And the answer, the short answer is pretty simple.
42:31
It's, there's nothing more important on the planet that I could talk about than the gospel,
42:36
but it's not the only thing that there is to talk about.
42:40
That's why.
42:41
Now, I start Scripture, I start with Scripture at the beginning of the episodes.
42:44
We're going to be doing some interesting things next year that I'll talk to you guys about
42:48
here in the coming months that will bring a little bit more of that element into it.
42:51
I think you guys are going to absolutely love it.
42:53
But for the most part, there are things that I need to help you guys do that you're not
42:58
getting from your pastor who is a professional that is supposed to be talking about the gospel
43:02
often.
43:03
Okay.
43:04
So again, we're here to equipment to push back darkness.
43:06
Okay.
43:07
We will apply the Bible when it is pertinent and in a lot of these cases, the Bible and
43:11
what it says in God's law is incredibly pertinent to that particular situation.
43:16
But I'm trying to bring things down to 11.
43:18
I don't mean this to demean anybody's intellect or something like that, but you've got a job,
43:21
you've got a family, you've got things that you're doing.
43:23
This is my job.
43:24
And so I do the research so you don't necessarily have to, at least not immediately, even if
43:29
I encourage you to do so afterwards, but what I'm trying to do is to equip you to push back
43:32
darkness.
43:33
And so I need to be able to understand what's going on around us to where I can help you
43:37
do that.
43:38
Because let's say, and again, we're not going into the news cycle at all in this one, but
43:42
there's a lot of crap happening in the news right now, but that's not necessarily your
43:45
pastor's responsibility.
43:46
Like I remember a while ago, a couple months ago, I was talking to my boy, Joby Martin
43:50
out of Florida and you know, this was after Trump's place in Mar-a-Lago got raided and
43:54
all that.
43:55
And you know, we were talking about how I talked about it on my show.
43:58
And he's like, well, I, you know, that's not really my responsibility to talk about it
44:00
from the pulpit.
44:01
I'm like, yeah, I agree with you.
44:03
Like you probably shouldn't lead off your sermon about, you know, Psalm 45 or something
44:08
like that, talking about the FBI raiding Trump's personal residence in Florida, right?
44:13
I get it.
44:14
But there are a lot of Christians that are worried about that.
44:17
And they're wondering if they should be.
44:19
They're wondering if that, something like that were to happen to them.
44:21
Is that just like, is that persecution?
44:24
It should I be love?
44:25
I should.
44:26
I love that because I'm being crucified kind of like, you know, crisis crucified like they're
44:29
confused.
44:30
And so I try to bridge that gap a little bit for you guys.
44:33
And sometimes I don't make the road or the line incredibly clear.
44:37
And so that's just something about my evolution as a podcast host and as a communicator that
44:41
I want to try to make those lines as as easily as possible.
44:44
But here's the other thing.
44:45
Is if I came on here three times a week and just talked about the gospel, how long would
44:51
it take before you're not listening to me anymore?
44:53
How long until you're like, yeah, I get it.
44:55
Because guys, to be honest, and I'll leave them nameless, there are some shows that I've
44:58
listened to for a very long time that are just getting real laborious because it's the same
45:01
thing over and over.
45:02
But I like these people.
45:03
I like what they're doing.
45:04
I want to support them and all those different things, but it's like, man, you can only rewash
45:08
and repackage that thing so many times where it's just like, okay, I get it.
45:11
I know what you're going to say next.
45:13
Like, I know what you're going to talk about, I know what you're going to set up here and
45:16
I know how long it's going to take you.
45:18
So to a degree, I want to keep you guys on your toes and I constantly want to be talking
45:22
to you about things that are pertinent to your world.
45:24
So hopefully that answers your question.
45:26
All right.
45:27
Just a few more here.
45:28
Next question.
45:29
What does surrender look like to a man while striving to push back darkness?
45:33
How does a man surrender to God?
45:36
That's actually a really good question.
45:37
I'm trying to remember the person that sent it to me, but why does surrender look or what
45:42
does surrender look like to a man while striving to push back darkness?
45:44
How does a man surrender to God?
45:46
Well, the first thing I would say is if you're not in touch with God in any way, shape or
45:48
form, if you're not spending any time in his word, and also if you're not spending any
45:51
time in prayer, it's going to be hard for you to know when you should surrender and what
45:55
you should be surrendering on and when it's time for you to, you know, gird your loins
45:59
and push back darkness.
46:01
So I don't necessarily want to skip over this question, but it's pretty simple and pretty
46:05
obvious, I would say.
46:06
So if you're only leaning on your own understanding and I have an issue with this, I'll be straight
46:10
up and honest about it.
46:12
Like if you're only leaning on your own wisdom and your own views of what the next steps are
46:17
and should be, if you're not leaning on the wisdom of any other godly men in your life,
46:21
if you're not spending time in the word of spending time in prayer, you're probably not
46:23
going to know what surrender looks like as a man.
46:26
Because we love to point to Christ and we should appropriately point to Christ as him willingly
46:31
surrendering up his life so that we would have a way to the father as the entire story of
46:36
the gospel, for those of you that think I don't talk about it enough, that's the story.
46:41
Jesus could have chosen not to die, I guess you could say, but he willingly went to the
46:46
cross to shed his blood so that we would have a pathway to the father so that the guilt
46:53
would be paid so that our sins could be covered.
46:56
This was a debt that had to be paid by somebody.
46:58
The debt couldn't just disappear and the debt required blood and it was God that gave his
47:03
son to make that happen, right?
47:07
Anyway, that's been talked about at nauseum for the last 2000 years and for good reason.
47:11
But again, if you're going to surrender, part of that just says, hey, God, like that's trusting
47:16
in Christ.
47:17
That's the gospel.
47:18
It's like, God, your will, but not my will, like you, you figure this out and you drag
47:22
me along.
47:24
Like the word is a lamp into our feet.
47:25
It's not a floodlight.
47:26
So help me make the next few steps.
47:29
You know, help if I make a misstep, help me get back on the right path, the path that
47:33
you would have for me.
47:34
So hopefully that helps you with that question.
47:35
All right.
47:36
A couple more left.
47:37
How do you filter biblical truth and false teaching?
47:41
So I think this came up because there were a few teachers that were based or pastors that
47:44
were coming out teaching lessons and sermons about stuff that wasn't pertinent to what
47:48
was happening in the Bible, but it was pertinent to the current news cycle and it was pertinent
47:53
to what the culture wanted them to say.
47:55
So that could be about trans issues, you know, lesbian, gay, basically the entire LGBTQ sexual
48:01
revolution, it could be about any number of things that's popped up in the news cycle.
48:05
Just pick something.
48:06
And then you will have these people that will come out and say, Oh, you should, you should
48:08
be okay with that.
48:10
Because the Bible says this.
48:11
And even though this doesn't really align with the Bible, I'm drawing this connection.
48:16
So the filter for most of you guys is being in the scripture.
48:19
So let's use a micro example.
48:22
You go to a church and the pastor says something as he's reading from the Bible or not, you
48:28
know, he's doing his TED talk and sprinkling the Bible over it.
48:31
And then you're like, Wait a minute, like as part of the reason why I left the church.
48:34
I was at previous to the one I'm at now because like there was a sermon series that I was
48:38
like, yeah, I was fine.
48:39
It was a fine subject matter.
48:40
But it's like that's not what that Bible story was about.
48:43
Like you were looking at that one scripture as if it's a bumper sticker when the context
48:47
of that entire book means a lot.
48:49
And this pastor didn't talk about that at all, like not even a little bit.
48:53
And so then I was like, what are the other things I just bought, hook, line and sinker
48:56
from this guy that literally didn't have anything to do with proper, you know, exegesis.
49:01
of what was happening in this particular part of the Bible.
49:03
So the way that you filter biblical truth and false teaching is by making sure that you're
49:07
in the scriptures.
49:08
And so this is the struggle that I know a lot of people have, which we're going to try
49:11
to, you know, address that in the coming months and I'll, I'll tell you how, but a lot of
49:14
people think, because I've literally got a stack of books.
49:16
You can't see it because it's off camera right now.
49:18
But this is all the Bibles and commentaries that I was talking to you about a second ago.
49:22
A lot of people don't think they can just read the Bible.
49:24
They think they have to study it.
49:26
And it's kind of a yes and no, because there are a lot of people in existence, gentlemen,
49:31
ladies and gentlemen, that read the Bible that only had parts of it.
49:36
They didn't have an entire canon.
49:39
They had parts of the Bible and they read that.
49:41
And yet people that, you know, moody wasn't alive yet.
49:45
John Calvin wasn't alive yet.
49:47
You know, their favorite modern, you know, Wayne Grudam or, you know, Piper or Chandler.
49:52
None of these people had written a single thing down yet.
49:55
Okay, and somehow Christianity was still able to thrive and grow all over the world.
50:01
Somehow the gospel was spread, no matter what.
50:05
So I think that that's very, very important for you guys to understand and realize.
50:08
And I'm speaking to me as well, like, I want to do things to the extreme, like I want to
50:12
do things, you know, so super excellent that sometimes I just don't even start because
50:16
I was like, ah, man, I don't have time to study the Bible.
50:19
But I perhaps have time to read it.
50:21
I don't have time to read this chapter and all these three different commentaries and
50:26
compare it with this translation of blah, blah, blah.
50:28
But I've got time to read this page.
50:30
I do have time for that.
50:31
So I think that's something that's really, really important.
50:33
It's gonna be hard for you to filter biblical truth and false teaching if you're not actually
50:37
looking at the Bible.
50:38
All right, guys, last question of the day here, any tips for approaching the Bible for the
50:41
first time?
50:42
Okay.
50:43
So I can remember me approaching the Bible for the first time.
50:45
So became a Christian as a 10th grader.
50:48
And the first thing that I did, I think it was Monday or Tuesday, I went down to the
50:51
salt cellar, which was a Christian bookstore in Loughton, Oklahoma, right next to Hastings,
50:54
where I would, you know, get, you know, it wasn't DVDs at the time, it was VHS as of
50:59
all the UFC fights and stuff like that.
51:00
And I went in there and I bought the most teenage extreme, I still have it downstairs.
51:05
The most teenage-y like extreme.
51:07
This is a cool kid Bible, right?
51:08
Bought it.
51:09
Don't even know how I had money, but I went and bought it.
51:12
And what I did is I remember our youth teacher saying, Hey, you should read the book of John
51:17
over and over and over and over.
51:19
And then once you're done reading it over and over, read it again and again and again.
51:22
And so I was like, okay, but I keep hearing people at the church say this thing.
51:25
They keep saying Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, Matthew, Mark, Luke, John.
51:27
And I didn't know if that was that hyphenated.
51:29
Is that like one word?
51:30
It was this person's that was it like Wendy, Moira, Angela, darling from Peter Pan?
51:34
Was it?
51:35
Matthew, Mark, Luke, John?
51:36
And so then I opened up the Bible and I'm like, Oh my gosh, what is this?
51:40
What?
51:41
How do you pronounce that?
51:42
Haggai?
51:43
Haggai?
51:44
Niamaya, like Ezra, like, you know, first and second Kings, like which Kings are they talking
51:49
about?
51:50
Is that like the English Kings?
51:51
I had no idea because I was looking at the Old Testament, obviously, but then as I started
51:54
scanning and getting back towards the end of the list, I saw Matthew, Mark, Luke, John,
51:58
I was like, Oh, oh, there's the line.
52:00
New Testament Old Testament had no idea what the different was different was between the
52:04
two.
52:05
I had no idea, you know, old covenant, new covenant, nothing, but I remember people talking about
52:09
Matthew, Mark, Luke, John.
52:10
So that's where I started.
52:11
I started in Matthew, read all Matthew, then I went to Mark, then I did to Luke, then I
52:16
did John, and then I just kept going all the way through the end of Revelation.
52:20
And I had my highlighters at, I had my pins out and I'm writing stuff.
52:23
I'm like, Oh, that's crazy.
52:24
Oh, that's where that quote came from from that song.
52:27
That's actually a scripture.
52:28
No way.
52:29
And then I'm just basically doing that.
52:30
And then I flipped over to Genesis.
52:31
I was like, okay, I might as well start at the beginning of the book and went through Genesis
52:35
and then started working my way through the Old Testament.
52:37
And I was like, Oh, no, you know, I got to numbers and I got to, you know, Leviticus and
52:41
I'm just like, Oh, oh boy, this is so different.
52:45
And so I kind of got bogged down a little bit, which shouldn't, you know, stop any of you
52:48
from doing what you're doing.
52:50
But if you're approaching the Bible literally for the first time, so I'm only talking to
52:53
the people out here that are not experienced Christians.
52:57
Start in Matthew.
52:58
I know a lot of people say John, John of all the four gospels is probably the most accessible.
53:03
But my encouragement to you would be to start in Matthew, then go to Mark, then go to Luke,
53:09
then go to John.
53:11
That is the gospel, okay?
53:13
Those are the four gospels and there's different names for him and they have kind of different
53:16
styles and the writers wrote in different ways.
53:20
That is the story of everything.
53:23
Now the rest of the New Testament is wonderful.
53:26
The rest of the Old Testament, which sets up the New Testament is wonderful.
53:29
But that's what all of eternity hinges on is whether or not what we see and what we read
53:35
in Matthew, Mark, Luke and John, whether that legit happened or not.
53:42
Because acts doesn't make sense without Matthew, Mark, Luke or John doesn't make sense at
53:46
all.
53:48
And I know again, people have ones that they prefer and all those different things.
53:51
That's how you approach the Bible, because whenever I go and talk to other people, whenever
53:55
I'm sharing the gospel with people, that's where I come to.
53:58
I say, look, all the stuff that you're describing is great.
54:01
All this stuff, the stuff that you're talking about is fine.
54:05
Like I'm not going to fault you for wanting to do some research into this religion or that
54:09
religion or this worldview or something like that, but at the end of the day, your entire
54:13
eternity hinges on whether or not Jesus of Nazareth, a Middle Eastern Jew, was under
54:20
the guidance of Pontius Pilate, crucified on a Roman cross at the behest of the Jewish
54:28
lawmakers of the day of the Sanhedrin.
54:31
And then three days later, after he'd been put in a tomb, he walked out of the tomb alive.
54:39
The resurrection is something that you have to reckon with because there is no middle
54:44
ground going back to the moderate thing from earlier.
54:46
There is no middle ground that either happened or it didn't.
54:52
Jesus of Nazareth either died and stayed dead or he died and is dead no longer.
55:02
Study whatever you want to study.
55:03
Read whatever history book you want to read.
55:04
You want to read the Bhagavad Geeda or the Quran or with the writings of Buddha or all
55:09
that?
55:10
Great.
55:11
I don't care.
55:12
All of eternity for everyone hinges on what is described in Matthew, Mark, Luke and John.
55:20
I think there's other parts of the Bible that are amazing, like reading through the Psalms
55:22
and Proverbs are great.
55:23
Nehemiah's, you know, one of my favorite books of all time, like you get a great thing when
55:27
you're reading through first and second Timothy in terms of relationships and in discipleship
55:31
and all that, none of it matters.
55:34
If Matthew, Mark and Luke and John is not clear to you and if you don't trust in it and believe
55:39
in it.
55:40
So that's how I would approach it.
55:41
All right, guys, we made it through again.
