This is Undaunted Life, a man's podcast.
0:53
I'm your host Kyle Thompson.
0:55
Let's get into it.
0:57
Mark Wayne Mullen, it's always good to see you, but I got to tell you,
1:00
this is probably the first time you've come on my show where there was,
1:05
I guess technically breaking news happening and where you have gone viral,
1:10
like literally in the last hour, hour and a half.
1:13
So for those of you that don't really know what's going on,
1:16
I'll give you the brief version and then you can jump in.
1:19
You and a guy named Sean O'Brien, he's a Teamster president.
1:23
Y'all got into it at a Senate hearing.
1:24
I think it was last year or something like that.
1:27
Yeah, he was real boisterous and real chest pounding and all that kind of stuff.
1:33
But then he goes to Twitter and he tweets at you a bunch of times and
1:38
he tweets like some physical threats at you and you're basically like,
1:41
"I'm your huckleberry" and you challenge him to like a charity MMA fight,
1:44
which sounds like a reasonable thing to do given the circumstances.
1:47
He got real quiet.
1:49
Well, this morning Mark Wayne,
1:50
so this is the morning of Tuesday the 14th.
1:52
This will be coming out the next day.
1:55
This morning y'all have another Senate hearing and basically you give that run down
2:01
and then you say, any time, any place and he responds,
2:05
"Okay, that's fine, perfect."
2:07
And you ask him a very decent timely question,
2:10
"Well, what about we do it now? You want to do it now?"
2:13
And he says, "I would love to do it right now."
2:16
And then you say, "Well, stand your butt up then."
2:18
And then you get up and you start taking off your wedding ring
2:21
and you're like, "You're getting ready to throw down."
2:23
And so everybody shocked.
2:25
Bernie Sanders is losing his top knot.
2:27
It's kind of like freaking out.
2:28
Now it's gone all over the internet.
2:30
So is there a backstory here or kind of what went down
2:34
because you know that this is craziness in terms of the news cycle?
2:37
Well, of course it is. Well, listen, the guy's a thug.
2:39
And his name's Sean O'Brien.
2:41
He's a teamster boss.
2:43
He took over after Hoffa stepped down as president.
2:47
And the guy, first thing he said after he became president in 2022
2:50
was he's going to bring back the mob mentality to the teamsters.
2:55
The guy has been in trouble over and over again, running his mouth.
2:57
He's been suspended from his own union
2:59
because he's threatened his own members before.
3:02
He's been involved in criminal activity.
3:05
He's never been charged, but he's been right there on the verge of it, right?
3:09
He was removed from negotiations back in 2017
3:13
by then-present Hoffa for threats and bad conduct
3:18
from negotiations with UPS. And so now he comes in.
3:21
He tweeted at me five times, Kyle, and I never said a word to him.
3:24
He just was poking, poking, poking out his sleeping alone.
3:26
It's not worth it.
3:27
But when he said, he called me a clown and all this stuff, which is fine.
3:32
You call me whatever. I don't care.
3:33
But when you go and you say anytime, anywhere,
3:38
you know where to find me cowboy,
3:40
I'm like, OK, well, then let's go.
3:45
And of course, you know, the reporters caught me and said,
3:47
"Is this really incumbent of a United States senator?"
3:51
And I said, "I'm a guy from Oklahoma first.
3:53
You don't round your mouth like that in Oklahoma
3:56
unless you're going to be called out by it."
3:58
And it's just that simple.
4:00
Listen, I know I'm 46 years old.
4:01
I'm retired from fighting.
4:02
I haven't gotten a street fight, and I don't know when,
4:04
which is why I was like, let's do the same for charity.
4:07
And of course, the whole time, the song, Toby Keith,
4:10
"I am as good as I once was, but I was good once as I ever was."
4:12
So I was running through my head.
4:14
I was like, this is, this may hurt me,
4:17
but there's no way in God's name I'm going to lose to him.
4:20
Well, so, OK, so I do want to actually follow up on that
4:23
because obviously there are people that just don't like you
4:26
because you're a red tie guy and you represent the Republican
4:29
party or you're from Oklahoma.
4:30
There's going to be those people out there.
4:31
So they will make the point that I'm at least sensitive to,
4:34
like, is there not something better for our senators
4:37
to be doing than to getting into these little tips?
4:39
So how would you respond to that?
4:40
Because you know that question's coming.
4:42
Well, go back to the 1800s and 1700s.
4:44
They used to have canines in the Senate.
4:46
And duels.
4:46
Are they still duels?
4:48
Yeah.
4:48
And there was a way that many used to settle their differences.
4:51
Sometimes there are just differences.
4:52
And just like you used to, you used to be able to fight
4:54
on the playground and just get swats.
4:56
Now they call the police in and you get suspended from school
4:59
automatically, even if you wasn't the one that started it.
5:01
Used to, the only person that got in trouble
5:02
was the person that started it.
5:03
We've taken so much of this out of it
5:06
and at the same time, we're still guys.
5:07
And sometimes, and sometimes, you need
5:10
to be called on your actions.
5:13
And we do got other things to do.
5:15
I understand that.
5:15
I'm not some of this 20 year old guy
5:18
that's still trying to get out there and act tough.
5:20
I'm not.
5:21
I get that.
5:21
I got six kids, you know.
5:23
But I'm still, as I said, a guy from Oklahoma
5:26
and you can't do that.
5:28
What else was my response to be ignored?
5:31
I'm sorry.
5:32
But is that my response to judging, I'm not a very good Christian.
5:43
And I know people say you're supposed to turn the other cheek.
5:45
I prefer the David method.
5:48
And I won't start it.
5:50
But I'll sure do everything I can to finish it.
5:53
Maybe I'll lose.
5:54
Who knows?
5:55
But I guarantee you, I'll know you'll know you've been in a fight.
5:59
Well, Mark Wayne, I do have to ask this as well.
6:01
Because I don't know about you, but I've watched a lot of movies
6:04
and I've watched a lot of television.
6:06
And supposedly Teamster type guys, these mob mentality guys,
6:11
they do have this way of getting concrete boots on people
6:15
and then tossing them in the river.
6:17
And so, I mean, if no one's concerned about the one on one
6:22
here, but Mark Wayne, I mean, these guys are kind of shady
6:24
and they're saying they want to be shady.
6:27
So are you worried?
6:28
Are you concerned at all?
6:29
Man, we've got the Heder County Mafia going on too.
6:31
No kidding.
6:32
OK.
6:33
Cherokee County, man.
6:35
Heder County, yeah.
6:36
Heder County.
6:36
No, I guess you got to be smart by it.
6:41
But this isn't personal to the Teamsters.
6:43
It's a personal to Brian.
6:44
And I think most of those guys will say I didn't start this.
6:48
I didn't put the tweet out.
6:49
I didn't do any of the same.
6:50
Most of these guys, these Teamsters,
6:52
they're also, I consider tough guys too.
6:54
They're no nonsense.
6:55
They know that their boss went out of line.
6:57
But I will say, the last time this happened,
6:59
my death threats went through the roof.
7:01
We expect that to happen this time too.
7:03
Last time, they wanted to put security on me.
7:05
This time, I don't know if they will or not.
7:07
I turned it down.
7:08
Last time, I'll turn it down.
7:10
I'm sure this time too.
7:11
And last time, something's real credible.
7:13
But that doesn't give them excuse.
7:15
And that doesn't mean that I'm going to back down
7:16
from it either.
7:18
I get there's risk on everything you do,
7:20
but I sure don't live in fear.
7:22
Well, I would also like to go on record
7:24
that if y'all do end up getting this fight signed,
7:27
if you do end up going into the cage,
7:29
you dust off the gloves and all those things like that,
7:32
I would like to announce that fight.
7:33
And I'm not going to be super unbiased.
7:36
I'll be really honest from the beginning,
7:38
but I think I'm probably the most qualified to get in there.
7:40
Can we at least agree that we can at least negotiate for that?
7:43
- No, you'd have to be biased.
7:44
You'd better be my friend if you're announcing it.
7:46
- Oh, it'll be preposterous.
7:48
It'll be preposterous.
7:49
Well, we need to go.
7:50
- It's not going to happen at the end of it.
7:51
I was like, because he was trying to back out of it
7:53
and saying, you know, that is what I'm at.
7:55
And I was like, well, what'd you mean?
7:56
He's like, well, let's say I don't have a cup of coffee.
7:58
Okay. And I said, then finalist said,
8:00
I don't have a cup of coffee.
8:01
You know, it's not personal to me.
8:02
I'm friends with guys I used to fight with, you know,
8:05
back in the days when you used to fight tournaments.
8:08
And so there's nothing, there's not personal to me at all.
8:11
This would been a great day, actually.
8:13
I had one of my buddies said,
8:14
you just about had a good day.
8:15
And I was like, man, it would have been a great day.
8:17
I'd be sore, but, you know, it'd been fun.
8:21
- That's always the thing, guys.
8:22
One of the reasons why you should train MMA,
8:24
why you should train jujitsu, is because even if you lose a fight,
8:27
you want to make sure the other guy
8:28
will never want to fight you ever again,
8:31
because it's kind of a win-win at that point.
8:33
But we need to move from an almost fight.
8:35
- I'm afraid of biting.
8:36
I will bite.
8:38
- Biting?
8:38
- I'll bite.
8:39
- Well, I mean.
8:40
- Yeah, I'm in a fight.
8:41
I'll do anything.
8:42
I mean, I'm not above it.
8:43
And I don't care where I bite by the way.
8:44
It just is going to be a bite.
8:46
- I'm not even going to ask any further questions on that.
8:48
I think that that basically speaks for itself.
8:50
But we go from a potential fight in the Senate hearing,
8:54
and now we need to go to kind of a pseudo-fight
8:56
that went on in the house.
8:58
So the last time we had you on,
8:59
we were talking about the fight for Speaker of the House.
9:02
We were talking about the whole situation.
9:05
We thought Jim Jordan was going to be getting in that day.
9:07
And within 48 hours, Jim Jordan's house,
9:09
Steve Scalise was already out.
9:11
And then kind of surprisingly and randomly and quickly,
9:13
Mike Johnson from Louisiana got in there
9:16
and people have their own opinions about him.
9:17
A lot of people didn't even know the guy existed before this.
9:20
So I guess just give me a read of the entire situation
9:23
from soup to nuts from everything being blown up
9:26
from the beginning to Mike Johnson.
9:28
How do you think he's going to do?
9:29
What do you think that means for the US House?
9:31
- Well, first of all, the thing that happened with Kevin
9:33
should never happen.
9:34
First of all, I'll put that out there.
9:36
And I believe that Mike is a very strong Christian guy.
9:40
I really do.
9:41
I mean, he was, I was his mentor when he came in.
9:43
I'm not saying that's a good thing for him to brag about,
9:45
especially today, but I was his mentor.
9:47
So he's my mentee and he's from Shreveport, Louisiana.
9:50
He's not a great man of God.
9:52
He is truly, truly a good guy.
9:55
Nobody will say anything bad about him.
9:56
I mean, they will now because instantly,
9:58
he was a bad guy when he came speaker,
10:00
but he's a really solid, solid guy.
10:02
I believe also that Lord raises up leaders
10:05
and it was just, it was his time.
10:07
No one saw him coming.
10:08
It just happened.
10:09
And I was honestly surprised by it.
10:13
I didn't see that happening.
10:14
I was like, Mike, and then when they announced Mike,
10:17
I was like, I could see him winning the same.
10:19
Absolutely, because it's very hard to do it.
10:22
And timing, I said this before,
10:23
timing on policy is two different things.
10:26
The most important thing here is timing
10:28
than it is over policy.
10:29
And for him, it's Friday evening, everybody's tired.
10:34
Even that eight had started sliding back,
10:36
saying that they regretted three of them.
10:38
I'd already said they regretted voting
10:40
to vacate the chair with McCarthy.
10:43
There was a possible fourth that said
10:45
that they would vote present and wouldn't vote against him
10:48
if McCarthy ran.
10:49
And so there was a good chance that Mike didn't win this,
10:53
that McCarthy was going to get brought back up.
10:55
And I wouldn't say good chance.
10:57
It was going to happen.
10:58
And so everybody got tired of fighting.
11:00
And they said, Mike's a good guy.
11:03
Let's give him a shot.
11:05
It's interesting that today,
11:08
which I know this is going to be aired later,
11:10
but today as we're speaking,
11:13
they're going to vote on the exact same thing
11:16
that Kev McCarthy did, but they're going to do it two times.
11:19
Instead of voting on one package, one CR with a clean CR,
11:22
they're going to vote two CRs.
11:24
So they're going to do one that goes into January
11:26
and one that goes into February.
11:28
And it's going to be the exact same bill,
11:31
except broken into two that they ousted McCarthy over.
11:35
And I'm going to be curious of what these eight
11:38
that were these social or physical conservatives,
11:42
so to say, are going to do on this one.
11:44
I bet they voted against it, but I bet they don't do it.
11:47
They came to chair over it.
11:48
But to be honest with you,
11:49
I don't know that they will vote against it.
11:51
And the reason why I say that is because
11:53
what was clear from the beginning
11:54
is they didn't have a plan.
11:56
They were what the Joker described in the dark night
11:58
where it's a dog that once they catch the car,
12:00
they don't know what to do with it.
12:01
And so it's like they kind of had an axe to grind
12:04
and they had the means to grind it.
12:06
And then they basically put the house on a halt
12:08
so that they could have their little [inaudible] contest.
12:10
So, you know, we'll see how things go as we move on
12:12
before the session. - I'll be surprised
12:15
that they vote for it.
12:16
They're gonna vote, they're gonna let the Democrats carry it.
12:18
And then you're gonna have some Republicans
12:20
that vote with it and it gives them excuse to say no to it.
12:23
But I bet anything, they won't do a vacated chair,
12:26
which if you're gonna, you gotta ask yourself,
12:28
why did they do it on cabinet?
12:30
- Right. - If it's--
12:31
- Wouldn't really make physical conservatives and ideas,
12:35
then why didn't they do it with,
12:37
why aren't they gonna do it this time?
12:38
Which they won't.
12:39
And in cabinet, it deserved to be vacated
12:41
and neither of them might be, will deserve to be vacated
12:43
for this either because it's the only option left to them.
12:46
They didn't have any other option
12:47
other than shut down the government
12:48
and that's not a good thing for anybody.
12:49
- I certainly agree with that.
12:51
So we will continue to pay attention
12:53
to see what goes on over there.
12:54
As we move on, and again, we don't have time
12:56
to really cover all of this.
12:57
We got into a little bit of detail last time we talked,
12:59
but obviously Israel's war against Hamas
13:02
has been ramping up.
13:03
But in concert with that,
13:05
the international outcry over the atrocities,
13:08
supposed atrocities that Israel is perpetrating
13:10
on the people of Palestine is going up.
13:13
The demands for a ceasefire,
13:14
the demands for Israel will not be so mean.
13:17
It's part of the reason why I spent so much time
13:19
letting my audience and people around me know
13:21
exactly in explicit detail what happened
13:24
on October the 7th because it's like,
13:27
look, someone can't come over to your house
13:29
and do this to your wife and your kids
13:31
and have some dude in a neighborhood across the street
13:33
say, yeah, you really should just wait
13:34
until the dust settles before you respond.
13:36
But for you as a United States Senator
13:38
and as representative of the US and of Oklahoma,
13:41
what are your thoughts on Israel's war,
13:43
how they're going about it and whether or not
13:45
we should be vying for some sort of a ceasefire?
13:48
- Absolutely no ceasefire.
13:49
I won't support a ceasefire.
13:51
Israel has to do what they're doing
13:53
because Hamas isn't gonna go away unless they do.
13:55
And let your audience understand this too.
13:58
Gaza is up by the Mediterranean Sea
14:02
that's right beside Egypt.
14:04
And that's what borders Egypt.
14:05
Now you have the West Bank that borders Jordan,
14:09
the Dead Sea and the Jordanian River.
14:11
And it's on the other side of Israel.
14:13
If you think of Israel, if you're not familiar with it,
14:15
it's kind of the shape of Florida as far as narrow,
14:19
but they're surrounded by bad actors around them, okay?
14:22
And so Gaza was voted by the people that lived in Gaza
14:27
to be governed by Hamas, a known terrorist organization.
14:32
Now anybody that lived in Gaza knew what Hamas was up to
14:36
and they could have left Hamas at any time.
14:38
The border wasn't closed.
14:40
They could have moved out of Gaza
14:42
and moved into Israel if they chose to.
14:44
They could have left any time they wanted to.
14:46
It wasn't, and I don't mean to grate this term,
14:50
but to terms that have been used in the news,
14:53
Gaza wasn't a ghetto where they were forced to stay
14:56
and they couldn't leave.
14:58
It was a place they chose.
15:00
And as I said, they chose to live as Hamas to govern them.
15:05
That means that they had to support them in some degree.
15:08
If there were Palestinians that didn't want to live there
15:10
and they didn't want to live in Israel,
15:11
they could have moved over to the West Bank
15:14
where they were governed by the Palestinians,
15:16
which they had their issues too,
15:18
but there's two different things.
15:19
And by the way, the West Bank is much, much bigger than Gaza.
15:23
So they could have chose to move over there they chose to.
15:26
So now when people say that, oh, the humanitarian
15:28
that they should have ceasefire,
15:30
it's a bad thing, war is ugly.
15:32
What Hamas did was ugly, what's happening to the people,
15:35
the innocent, those that are innocent there is ugly,
15:39
but I'll go back to it.
15:41
They chose to live there and underneath that rule
15:46
and they voted them in power.
15:48
And now that regime, the terrorist organization Hamas
15:52
has to pay for the prices and those that supported them
15:56
going in are having to pay the price too.
15:58
No different than when Germany and World War I
16:02
are Germany underneath Hitler and World War II,
16:05
the German civilian population that put the Nazis in power
16:09
had to pay for what the regime that they chose
16:13
to live underneath did.
16:14
- It sounds harsh to put it that way,
16:16
but that's exactly the case.
16:17
And again, for people, right,
16:18
for people that are saying Israel are genociding
16:21
the Palestinians, it's like Hamas doesn't have an Air Force,
16:25
but Israel does, if they wanted to carpet bomb
16:28
the entire area and kill millions of people,
16:30
they could do it easily.
16:31
And to say that they're colonizers,
16:33
the entirety of the Middle East and Northern Africa
16:35
are Arab Muslim nations.
16:37
Like what are you talking about?
16:38
- Well, let's just think about this.
16:40
They're not bombing the West Bank, so to say,
16:42
and the Earth Palestinians have lived there too.
16:44
But why isn't the Jordanians, why isn't the Egypt
16:47
opening it up to the Palestinians?
16:49
Well, because the Palestinians behavior,
16:51
you go back to Kuwait, when Saddam Hussein invaded Kuwait,
16:56
the Kuwaitis kicked out 300,000 Palestinians
17:00
'cause they joined with Saddam Hussein at the time
17:05
to try to overthrow Kuwait.
17:08
You go back to the Jordanians.
17:09
But when the Jordanian then king was killed in the '60s,
17:14
you had the Palestinians that rose up against the government
17:19
and was joining the power that was overthrown
17:21
the own government and the Jordanians
17:24
in a path to kick them out.
17:25
You saw what happened in Egypt during the coup
17:28
and the Egyptians had to remove them from Egypt
17:31
because they were part of the coup to overthrow the government.
17:34
They have a history of doing this,
17:36
and this is a reason why no one else has opened
17:38
the border up to them.
17:39
So what is it that's supposed to happen here?
17:42
Israel is supposed to just live with it?
17:44
No, they proved that they couldn't live it.
17:46
They tried it since 2014.
17:48
They tolerated the harassment since 2014.
17:51
They took it too far and Israel has to eliminate them.
17:55
It's the only option and it is awful.
17:58
But even the hospital, for instance,
17:59
they're claiming that the hospital has to be protected.
18:02
The reason why they're there
18:03
is because Hamas is using them as shields
18:06
and they're using it every opportunity they can use as shields.
18:08
I guarantee you, once they secure the hospital,
18:11
their rallies will start running that hospital
18:13
and taking care of those people
18:14
better than Hamas was, I promise you,
18:16
and they won't be used as human shields.
18:18
But until Hamas leads it, vacates it
18:21
and tells unequivocally they're not there
18:23
and allowed Israelis to come in and search the place
18:26
to show that they're not there,
18:28
then Israelis, the IDF, which is by the way,
18:30
not an army, it's the Israeli Defense Force,
18:34
the Israeli Defense Force, if they need itself,
18:36
then they have every opportunity to do it,
18:38
or they have every right to do what they're doing
18:39
and I support them and that support will not change by me.
18:43
- I support them as well.
18:44
And obviously you have to understand
18:45
you're not just fighting a people group,
18:46
not just a terrorist group.
18:47
You're fighting an ideology.
18:48
And when you see mothers of slain Hamas fighters
18:52
going out with tears of joy because their sons
18:54
are martyrs in the fight against the Jewish devil,
18:58
this tells you absolutely something's wrong right there.
19:00
Now, I know you got a hard out,
19:02
so I'm gonna leave it there and let you go on
19:03
about your business, but just guarantee me one thing,
19:06
Mark Wayne, if you get a plus one
19:09
for your fight against Sean O'Brien,
19:12
at least consider me, okay?
19:13
I got one cauliflower ear, not two,
19:15
but hey man, I got your back if you need it, okay?
19:18
- Yeah, I'll get you in.
19:19
Yeah, but it won't hurt when I get you in.
19:21
- All right, we'll talk soon, all right, bye.
19:24
- Thank you guys so much for listening to this episode.
