Let's be honest, most men drift. We wake up, we scroll, we work, and then we just rinse and repeat. And we know we're softer than we should be. That's why I built the 31-day resilience reset. This is not a devotional, it is a field manual for men ready to stop drifting and start fighting back. So, for 31 days, you'll train your spirit, mind, and body with scripture, prayer, and daily challenges that forge real resilience. Go to www.undaunted.life/31days to download this resource for free. That's undaunted.life/31days. Start your reset today. Hey guys, real quick, I just wanted to remind you that we have an official Undaunted Life store. You can go to shop.undaunted.life or check it out in the show notes. Guys, we're always going to have hats and shirts and a bunch of other awesome stuff. Go there, support us, wear the mission. Again, it's shop.undaunted.life. Check out the link in the show notes, shop.undaunted.life. This is Undaunted Life, a man's podcast. I'm your host, Kyle Thompson. Let's get into it. Joby Martin, as I live and breathe, there you are. We are doing this, but guys, we're flipping the script a little bit today. A couple times a year we'll do ask a pastor turns into ask a podcaster. So, that's what we're doing today. But Joby, are you okay with me asking the first question of you? >> It's your show, sir. >> Okay. I just got to know, how's it possible that we're just about a month after I turned you into a rap star, and I got a response from everybody on the planet Earth. I had people Josh Harrison text me, he goes, "Bro, I have no words." He was trying to find him, but he couldn't. But the only person that didn't respond to me turning them I mean, we were asked to go on tour, we were asked to release a Spanish remix, we were asked to drop an entire mixtape. The only person that didn't respond was you. What do you have to say for yourself? >> Nothing. [clears throat] I have no words. Ruslan texted me. He was like, "Bro, you got some serious rap vibe." To which I said, "That's the first time I've ever been accused of having rap vibe, but I'll take it." That was so funny. >> Well, Joby is real though. >> Always believe [clears throat] everything on the internet. I think that's the the takeaway. >> Yeah, definitely. I am definitely that tall. I had definitely gotten part of my tattoos removed. But, I will say this before we move on to your questions. You can't just be Joby Martin. Like, you got to have a rap name. And so, I I did the, you know, the work of like coming up with some. So, you know, everyone's heard of the Notorious B.I.G. But, what about the Notorious J.O.B., right? That We're working with it. If we want to come for more new school, we got A$AP Rocky. What about A$AP Joby? Here's one. Okay, don't [clears throat] worry about it. We'll take it back old school then. Snoop D-O-double-G. How about Snoop J.O.B.B., right? Like that that could be one. All right, HERE'S ANOTHER ONE FOR THE youngins in the crowd. Lil Uzi Vert. How about Lil Convert? Lil Convert, like you're a pastor. Get it? Evangelism. Lil Convert. >> [clears throat] >> Buddy, I'm from Lawton, Oklahoma. If you don't know, now you know. But, here. How about Okay, since we know you're you're obsessed with the tithe, we got 50 Cent. How about 10%? You could be 10%. Right? Because Nathan Auffill reliably told me that all you care about is the Benjamins. But, I'm just going to make him say um with this last one cuz this is the one that I picked. Everybody knows about Master P. How about Pastor P? Come on, man. Pastor P. MAKE HIM SAY UM. >> [clears throat] >> BUT, I THINK I think you should kind of let the crowd name you. You know what I mean? Whatever happens. Like, you don't get to give your own nickname. So, >> No, no, no, no, no. This isn't a nickname. It's a rap name. >> I have questions. >> Let's go. >> So, I don't We're not I've got pages like of my staff. They have [clears throat] all kind of questions for you. I'm not I I want to do this way more conversational okay? >> All right. >> I I do have a couple questions. This is kind of get to know Kyle, but not with 177 Um just the best I've ever seen you. You do a great job hosting podcast, you know, Um I'm obsessed. I don't know when this comes out. We're going to talk about the last two I've listened to a little bit. But the best I've ever seen you, I think you were a guest on Ruslan's. And when you interview, you'll throw in your stuff and you kind of, you know, you repeat your same stuff. We all do that. But it's the first time you've just like just answered the questions without navigating the conversation. So, we're going to do it more that way. >> Okay. >> First one's really easy. What's the most you've ever bench pressed? >> Uh, the most is like 300 on the dot. So, I I'm kind of scared I was kind of scared of like all the power lifts and all that because I just didn't want to ever get hurt. And but I lifted with some of the strongest dudes like and they were just [clears throat] just football strong. But I played baseball and wrestled and so they never wanted you to be like super, uh, you know, super bulky with, you know, super tight shoulders. And so, before [clears throat] I ruptured my bicep, I was like, you know what? I can get 315 on bench. Like that just I'm going to have to I even text you about it. I was like, I'm going to have to change a few things but it's not it's not the same as trying to go from like 500 deadlift to 600 deadlift cuz you're going to have to change your entire life to to add 100 lb of deadlift. But I was like, I can add a little bit more to bench and then, you know, blew up the bicep, tore the rotator cuff, tore the labrum, all that. And so, now, uh, flat bench might be part of my past. I don't know. >> All right. Listen to my second question. So, I mean, you've been through it. Two vocal surgeries and you're you're heading towards black belt which means a lot to you. And you rupture your bicep just throwing a little left hook to the kidney. So, what has God taught you in this time where he put you in that arm brace and really humbled you there with something that was so important? >> Yeah. >> What are some of the takeaways? >> [clears throat] >> I forget who said it but someone was talking about it recently where they live their life like the other shoe's always about to drop. I'm highly pessimistic, dudes. I've I've kind of always been that way. And so, I always kind of knew that if the the brakes were going to get slammed, it was going to be on something physical. What I didn't realize is it was going to be my voice years ago. Two vocal cord surgeries. In between the surgeries, I thought I I my career's over. And then rupturing the bicep, yeah, knocking on the door of black belt in Jiu-Jitsu. And Joey, I just got to tell you like, you know, my wife I don't even talk to my wife about this. My body felt great. There was nothing achy. Like, neck felt great and strong. Low back, great, strong. Everything felt strong. All my lifts were strong. I was changing some things up. Everything was going up and up and up and up and up. And yeah, I throw that that little left hook to the liver and kapowie. And then, you know, here I am, you know, people ask me all the time like I'm I'm maybe 85% 90% back, but, you know, I can deadlift again, but I still can't do a pull-up without one of those fat guy assistance bands. And so, it's just kind of like it's a it's a, you know, it hurts your pride a little bit. Looking up the mountain You kind of feel like Sisyphus. If anyone knows about Sisyphus, where you you push that rock up the mountain. You push that rock up the mountain. You finally get to the top. The rock rolls down to the bottom, and you got to go down there and start over. That's kind of what it felt like. Felt like having to start over, cuz I had to start over on my lifts. Like, I was literally curling a 1-lb pink dumbbell, right? That my 90-lb grandma Bonnie would have dominated. And I'm like, And I will say this as well. One of my dominion guys, he's in Watch Me Now, Mike. He's out on the East Coast. He was just like, you know, after the Leash on the Dragon episode came out this year, he's like, "I kind of took a survey of your show for this year." He's like, "Something's different. Something's different since you blew up your arm. Like, your focus on particular topics, your intensity with how you cover them. You've always been intense." But then he's like, "Kyle, do you honestly think that God maybe let you hurt your arm so you can make all the connections that turned into Leash on a Dragon, which was on my show and then on our show, the Daily Blade and so I I think if anything it's caused me to be even more hyper-focused on the things that matter because you know if you're coming back from a major injury, you can't do stuff that's going to make your injury recovery time longer. You got to try to shorten it in any way you can and still be safe. And so that's that's what I say God God kind of showed me is like, yep, I'm always going to check you in the physical cuz that's the thing that's probably closest to idle level for me is what I can do with my body and how I can perform with my body. But then also it's like, hey, look at all this extra energy you were able to put into stuff that matters, son. It's like, all right. Heard and received. >> So what would you So there's a guy out there right now and it's not a torn bicep, but they just got laid off or they, you know, whatever. Something cuz you texted me What did you say? It just said, I'm devastated or you know, I thought you just got in a car wreck or something. So somebody just got devastated. So what would your like one or two sentence advice be for that brother right now? Cuz you're on you're on the back end of it. You see the light. You're rolling again, you know, you've kind of been through it. So what would you say to that brother? >> Someone asked me this recently. We were talking about the the problem of evil. We were talking about, hey, why do bad things happen to good people? And you know, cuz I threw out an example. I'm like, you know, seven-year-old girl kidnapped, raped, murdered, like the the worst possible scenario you can think of, right? And then it's like he was like, where was God when that happened? Where was Jesus when that happened? And I just said at the right hand of the father ruling and reigning. That's where he was. And the thing is is the atheist, materialist scientism pagan they can't answer the problem of evil either. They have no answer, right? Because they don't even have a category for evil cuz we're all just highly evolved chimps that figured out language, pants, and fire fire, right? There's your Kyle-ism for the day. And if that's all there is, then that's all there is, brother. There's no such thing as evil. There's no such thing as bad. Guess what? A superior chimp took took advantage of an inferior chimp and that's just the way that it is. You know, life's tough, get a helmet. But we have a different answer for that, not just philosophically but literally. And so what I would tell that guy is you just got laid off. You just got bad news from the doctor. You just found some text messages between your wife and one of her friends from work where I guess they're not friends, they're more than that. One of your kids has gone prodigal or they're they're abusing drugs or you're having problems with with drug abuse. You did the thing you said you would never do again. Whatever your scenario is. God is still in control. If God could have Lucifer on a leash and dog walk the dragon, you don't think he's got a plan for what's going on in your life? And I'm just telling you, if you will be resilient, if you will have some resolve in this moment, if you will cling to the truth of the gospel, you will look back on this not as a hinge point of your life, but as one footnote in one of the chapters of your life. That's what you have coming for you if you stay resilient. >> All right, I tricked you. So I need you to clip that that you just said. And the next time you get all pessimistic, I need you to listen back to your own words. >> do tricks. This is my show, sir. All right, we're going to edit that entire Landon his Landon, can you hear me? Landon, edit that part out. I don't do that. >> [clears throat] >> All right, speaking of takeaways, two of the most powerful interviews I've ever heard my entire life is you talking to Chuck Swindoll and Philip Anthony Mitchell. I've still got about 20 minutes on Philip Anthony Mitchell just based on the timing. It's for me it just came out this morning and you know um Give me for each of the I mean dude, you got to spend uninterrupted hours >> Yeah. >> with two of the giants in the kingdom of God in our lifetime. Give me a couple Give me a couple of takeaways from each one. We'll go Dr. Swindoll first. Hey bro, every time you just call him Chuck, did he make you call him Chuck? >> Uh I called him Mr. Swindoll whenever he came in the room and he just goes, "Oh, Kyle from Oklahoma City, call call Chuck." And I was just like, all right, Chuck it is. I'm in your house. >> Okay, so I'm he has not given me permission to call him that. So, what give me a takeaway from your >> [clears throat] >> incredible conversation with Dr. Swindoll. >> Yeah, I'll give you a little behind the scenes on that because like I've said on the show, I get 40 40 50 pitches for everyone I can have on the show. And then some I can just accept when I see the the subject line and this one said Chuck Swindoll and I was like, I couldn't open up the email fast enough. So, I said yes, but this is what people don't know. They came back to me and said, you know, his schedule, you know, he look he's 92. His schedule is just a little bit too tight. You know, thank you for saying yes, but we're just not going to be able to make this one happen. I've never done this before in my career, Joby. I call the publicist and I say, I'm sorry, you're going to have to reconsider. And then this is what I said. This I literally used you against them. I said, I text my buddies, Joby Martin, Matt Chandler, Josh Howerton, Matty Montgomery, Robbie Gallaty, I text them that I was interviewing Chuck Swindoll. My pastor, Mark Hitchcock, you know, his you know, second in command, Jay Riser, and they were all flipping out at the fact that I was going to get to sit down with Pastor Swindoll. And look, I will do what needs to happen. If I need to come to Dallas, if we need to kind of however we can make this happen, we're going to do it. Here are some dates I'm actually going to be in Dallas. Can he accommodate? And didn't you know it? I didn't know this the publicist used to work for him at Insight for Living. Used to work for him and his wife. And so, she just goes, oh, I love this. And so, she goes to Chuck and they're like, absolutely. Kyle from Oklahoma City can come on down. And so, leading up to the interview, Joby, my wife one day she just goes, hey, are you nervous about the Swindoll interview? And I'm like, not really. Why? She's like, cuz you will not stop talking about it. She's like, every day you mention Chuck Swindoll. She's like, you never talk about the people you interview ever. [clears throat] And but you've not been able to stop talking. And what I I her is I was like, I feel the weight of this one. Because I know he's got an insane amount of wisdom and it's my job just to not get in the way. Because I'm the if there's dead air, let me fill it. I'm Peter, right? It's like, oh, no one's talking, I guess I'll talk. Isn't it awesome? Let's just stay up on this mountain forever, right? I'm that guy. And the weight I felt of it, the reverence I felt for him and his 60-plus years of ministry, 70-plus years of marriage. But when I'm sitting there getting ready, like, you know, his makeup gal's telling me some things, his daughters in there, well, hey, don't ask about this and, you know, hey, what about that and blah blah. And so, I'm like, in my head, I'm like, y'all are trying to make me nervous, but I'm like, I'm just going to do whatever I'm going to do cuz I don't work here, right? You can't fire me. So, I'm just going to ask what I want to ask. And then he comes walking in and this booming voice at 92 uh years old, I could hear him from down the hallway, super jealous. And he just comes in there and he's he he can barely see anymore and he just he found my hand and we shook hands. And Joby, we just started to going back and forth like we were old buddies. He started ribbing me a little bit and I'm like, all right, I like this game and I started ribbing him back a little bit and he was just yucking it up and then so we had we hit it off before we ever got in the studio. But if I'm lying, I'm dying, Joby. The moment I sat down, I literally felt like the Holy Spirit came over me and just said, patience. And I I don't really guess I knew what that meant. But Chuck is so sharp mentally, but he still takes a little bit to process. And so, he was in the middle of a sentence and he would kind of, you know, seem like he was ending his point. And then a lot of other interviewers were jumping in at that moment cutting him off whenever he was still making his point. And so, I just would sit there in the silence and let the moment breathe and then he would keep going and then he would just continue blowing my mind, right? And so, I talked 5% of the time, but look at the wisdom that came from it. And Joby, the staff was behind me, the producers are over here. I could hear them laughing at one point. I could hear them gasp. It was either the cigar or the the question about, you know, how Satan would take them out. They gasped. I literally hear audible gasp. The tears, like people were like, "Kyle, how did you hold it together?" And I was like, "My only job was to not get in the way." And so if I melted when everybody else melted, right? Then then there's the train doesn't keep moving. But literally, Joey, just to wrap up, as I was walking out there, I was just shaking my head. I was like, "What? What just happened?" Like, it could not have gone better. Uh it could not have been more enjoyable on my end. I get an email the next morning saying he goes home and told his wife how much time he had with Kyle from Oklahoma City and and how encouraged he is by the ministry I have to men. And I'm just like, it's the Wes Huff thing where he's like, "Every time I get a cool opportunity, I look as it at as another opportunity to come low and say, 'God, look how awesome you are.'" As Swindoll said in the interview, before before time, God ordained that he and I would sit down and have that conversation at that table. And again, my only job was to not get in the way. And she was watching this, and she's like, "I'm not your partner. I'll make your babies and I'll serve you food." >> Boy. >> And then he he didn't make a big deal about it like [clears throat] publicly. >> No. >> He just in his heart decided, "I'm going to change that." And then 44 years later, after she'd helped him run Insight for Living for, you know, >> Golly, dude. >> Boy, that that was a That's when I texted you. I'm not crying, you're crying. So, >> Yeah. >> Great. All right, number two, Philip Anthony Mitchell. You got to to sit down with uh I mean God's man for our generation right now. God bless him. What's it What's the takeaway from that conversation? >> So, um I mean, I know I have a reputation for kind of being low-key and keeping my opinions to myself and not being very intense. Uh no, obviously, I'm a super intense dude. He's also a very intense dude. The moment he walked in the room, there was warmth, but there was tension. And I don't mean that in a negative way. Just when certain people walk in the room, you talk about this, does peace walk in with you? Well, when some people walk in the room, there's a certain level of ferocity that comes in with them, but you feel safe. Does that make sense? Uh to where it's just like >> Lion, Witch, and the Wardrobe stuff. Yeah. >> Hey, that's uh a lion for them, lamb with them. And so, we didn't get to chat very much beforehand. I love getting to tell the behind-the-scenes stuff. I never really get to do that. But like uh >> Right. >> W- We were talking for 5 minutes before we started recording. So, we have to kind of just jump right in. And like I had I had heard his interview with Howard Stern. I thought Howard Stern did a masterful job with that conversation. And And but my job is not to try to match what anyone else does. My job is to honor my audience. And I have two audiences. My audience of one is God. And then my other audience is the 95% of men that listen to this. And shout out to the 5%ers. Um the conversation went so well. People were like, "Kyle, you didn't smile much." I was like, "The The occasion didn't really call for it." Uh it was just intensity on top of intensity. He got upset at one point moment when he was crying. He was overwhelmed uh by by what he was talking about. And here's what what nobody saw. After I I end the interview with a very pointed question, which I'll leave to the audience. Go watch the interview. Uh it's out there all the places now. I ended with a a fairly intense question that I've asked of other people before. And so, I wrapped the interview. And so, he goes like So, we move the microphones. He goes to dab me up. And I'm just like, "All right, cool. It's going to be like, hey, cool, you know, he's got another interview after this. Bro he grabbed my hand about as I got dabbed up harder than I've ever been dabbed up before and I've been dabbed up by like a 400-lb defensive tackle before that like lifted me up off of the earth. Like and he just held my hand and he looked at me and he goes, "How could you ask me that question?" But it wasn't angry. It wasn't accusatory. He was like, "Kyle, how could you ask me that, bro? You you about broke me with that question." And I just looked at him and I said, "Because if you've never considered the answer, you don't know how to defend against it." And then he and I just sat there. I felt bad for the person after me, but hey, you know what? That's life. Uh cuz he just sat there and we just chatted for another 10-15 minutes about his ministry. He talked to me about mine. And before I left, you know, we stand up, you know, we're we're shaking hands and he yanks me into him, right? He's not an enormous human being. He yanks me into him. He puts his face on top of my face, right? Like right here. And then he prays for me and my wife and my ministry. Right? About of an inten- I mean, and at this point we are hugging and it was one of those things like you don't want to be the first guy to kind of let up on the hug, so it was like, "Ah." So we're in this bear hug. No one's recording. No one's taking pictures. We're just in the middle of his studio, in the middle of his his office and he's just praying like like eternity depended on it. The the Philip Anthony Mitchell prayers you hear about from people, it was one of those prayers, but it was right right in my ear, right here on the side of my face. And then, you know, I wished him well. They had their Access event in Dallas coming up and so I wished him well on that and then he needed to get on to the next thing and I hopped on a plane and came back to Oklahoma. But yeah, man, it's it's an unfathomable week. And and we're in it right now, Joby. That Philip Anthony Mitchell interview dropped 7 hours ago. And then the the Chuck Swindoll one just 2 days ago as of the recording of this. It's it's been a very very strange week, I'll say. >> Yeah, I would encourage the Duncante listeners, those are the ones you want to listen to more than once cuz you'll miss so much >> [clears throat] >> just on one run through. Listen to those a couple few times. >> Watch them and watch them at one time speed. You'll never hear me say that at any other moment, but there you go. >> [clears throat] >> All right, hard hard turn, political. Uh video public execution. You pro it, against it? >> I'm about as pro as you can possibly be. Um >> Say more. >> And the reason why I am, go back to our founders. If you want to spend some time digging in to the greatest of our founding fathers, and that's George Washington, who could have been king, but he took the Cincinnatus route. He was as pro public execution as I think anybody else in history, and this is why. It's because he knew what it it would do to the collective psyche of the body politic. What I mean by that, and I remember this, my wife and I got married in Jamaica, Negril, Jamaica, back in 2009. And the bus driver was just kind of casually talking about how a previous bus had been raided by by gangbangers, essentially. They got on the bus, you know, at gunpoint, they stole all these, you know, Americans' wallets and watches and jewelry and all that kind of stuff. And what the local magistrate did is he hung them all publicly and left the bodies for a few days. He was basically saying, "If we lose tourism, we lose this country. This is what happens to people that try to hurt this country in a way that will affect people at the most base level, which is their ability to exist and to provide for themselves and their families, okay?" And so, probably the best person that I've heard talk about uh the the execution coming up of the Fort Hood shooter is uh Nick Freitas. He said, "The concern is is, 'Oh, they're going to use it as a They're going to use it as a, you know, recruiting tool.' Like all those types of things." He goes, "They used the news coverage of him doing the deed as a recruiting tool. They used his pictures as a recruiting tool. They used the fact that he was on trial as a recruiting tool. The fact that he was found guilty as a recruiting tool. The fact that he was sentenced to death as a recruiting tool. They're going to use it all as a recruiting tool anyway because they're at war with us. Fundamentalist Muslims are at war with us, the West. And so in that moment, there will be a fundamentalist Muslim that will at least pause and say, "Sheesh, that looked terrible." I don't think it's voyeuristic. If you don't want to watch it, don't watch it. Even J.D. Vance was like, "Yeah, I'm not going to watch it." So, I think that says something about J.D. Vance and I don't think it's necessarily positive. Uh I am as pro public execution as you can possibly get. I think the biggest travesty Joe B. in this case is that he has been on death row living on the taxpayer dime for over a decade, okay? That is the travesty here. He should have been killed a long, long time ago. We should have been able to continue pointing back to that moment and say, "This is what happens when you take out people in this country regardless of your ideology." So, I'm pro it. >> Um >> [clears throat] >> can you at least understand why some people that we respect greatly like an Al Mohler who >> Yep. >> but understands that that that uh the death penalty is for sure biblical because it values life. It doesn't devalue. Can you understand why somebody like him would caution very much on the wisdom of it, not necessarily the morality of it. >> Yeah, Al Mohler is about as staunchly uh pro capital punishment as any public Christian ever and he has a tremendous uh apologetic for why he believes that way. What I think he doesn't uh he has grown up in an era where there have been no public executions. If he was commenting 100 years ago, Joe B., I think he would I'm I'm speculating. I think he would be singing off a different sheet of music because even when they would publicly hang people in this country as part of their punishment, right? There were people that chose to go and watch and there were people that chose to not go and watch, and they all had their reasons to do so, but nobody part of the reason why the death penalty in this country is not it doesn't cause people to think twice about their crime is because we sanitized the death penalty. Look at what happened with Krista Pike in Tennessee, right? We're trying to sanitize this thing. Oh, we're just going to, you know, inject something in their veins and then they're just going to go to sleep, and we keep it from the public. The person is executed decades after they committed their crime when everybody is forgotten about the atrocities that have happened. And then if you go to the Old Testament, we see in different places, I think it's in Judges where, you know, a a righteous punishment that is not carried out speedily becomes an unrighteous punishment. And look at what we've seen. 30 years after somebody heinously murders an entire family after they tortured and raped them, what are all the people in the public saying? Oh, it's been so long. Like, do we really still need to kill him? Let's just leave him in prison. They could just die in prison. Or, you know what? Let's give him a second chance as a society. Those kinds of things is because the punishment was not handed out speedily. So, that would be my caution to Al Mohler would be at a more serious time we took things like that more seriously. >> But you do listen to somebody like Dr. Mohler and consider what he says, right? >> to keep those ideas in tension even if I intellectually disagree with them, of course. >> That's why I'm asking you the question. I don't [clears throat] want your audience only to hear what you think, but how you think. And I think when you come to something like this, the problem is is that many people have already pre-decided what team they're on. And so, then they look for it. You see you see people do this with the scriptures all the time, right? And so, they do the text and proof text to text. And so, >> [clears throat] >> I just wanted people to hear you cuz I know you respect Al Mohler. He's he's super smart. He knows the Bible. He's very consistent. And he might on this one land somewhere else, and you may end up differently, but you consider, like you said, you you have the ability to hold some of those well-articulated thoughts in tension, and then process through. >> Well, Joby, and so >> Let me >> That's one of the biggest things I want I want The UnDumbed Down Life audience to do. To not just find the person like you that that they already agree 99.9% on and just say, "Yeah, whatever Kyle thinks, I'm going to parrot what he says." >> Yep. >> It's a good idea to have other voices in your life that you that might You know, I was a little bit I don't know what I I kind of I wasn't surprised at Al Mohler. He's such a statesman, you know, he's such a gentleman, and you're a you're going to be a black belt fighter, so you know, you we all bring our personality to these things, too, but I just wanted to hear people listen to you, how you would process some of those things. >> Well, I'll quickly put a finer point on it, because in a we'll say in a month, the voices that I consider greatly, so Mark Hitchcock, Joby Martin, Matt Chandler, Josh Howerton, Robbie Gallaty, Jason Shephard, Jonathan Pokluda, Al Mohler, Ben Shapiro, uh Glenn Beck, Matt Walsh, uh um Prager, Dennis Prager, uh Jack Carr, you know, these kinds of people. And then that's that's not to mention also my foxhole and my forging table. I can hold everyone's opinion that is deeply held in tension. What I don't consider are opinions that are haphazardly come to. And so when someone's like, "Uh I think this on the subject." Well, you haven't thought much about it, so why am I going to think a lot about what you have thought nothing about? Like I don't really want to do that. But if you can come to a decision on something and can articulate it well, cuz you and I have had some disagreements on stuff even in ministry. I think I answered something on a future AMA about something that you did within Church of Eleven 22 that I would not agree with. However, when I'm on site in Jacksonville, I am a member of Faith Bible Church in Edmond, Oklahoma, but because y'all trust me with helping with your ministry, I am a pseudo member of your church, which means I am under your authority as the head pastor and under the authority of all the elders. And so I would never do anything from stage or even off stage that would violate that that setup. And if I got to a point where I couldn't respect y'all's leadership anymore, then we would no longer have a ministry relationship. And so it's kind of one of those things like you are not going to have to give an account for how you shepherded me because I am not a member of your flock. However, when I am there, I treat myself as a member of your flock even if I disagree with you. That's cognitive dissonance. That's holding things in tension. That's what a healthy person does. Hey guys, real quick. So pretty much everywhere you look right now, all anyone in the fitness and wellness world wants to talk about is peptides. And in the last few years, the demand in the market for peptides has gone through the roof. And here's the thing, most people don't really know anything about peptides. They just know that a lot of people they know are on them and are having great results. And here are a few reality checks as it pertains to peptides. One, you need to know what they are and how they can help you. Two, not all peptides and peptide companies are reliable and safe. And third, you need a reputable company that will educate you and help you find the peptides that are right for you. And that's why I want to introduce you to a new partnership that we have with Victrix Wellness. So Victrix is not a telehealth clinic, it's not a prescription platform, it is a concierge wellness company built around one thing, peptide education. And through Victrix, you will get your own coach, someone who will walk you through the research, the product categories, how to evaluate the quality of the peptides you're getting, and how to find the peptides that are right for you and your situation. So this is more of an individualized focus and direct approach to your overall wellness as compared to the typical clinical experience. Want to know how the Wolverine stack can help you recover from an injury, Victrix can help. And they're the ones that have been helping me ever since I ruptured my bicep and it's just been fantastic. Also, want to know the benefits of the glow stack and what that can have on your physical appearance and recovery, Victrix can help with that. Want to see how certain peptides can help you with sleep, cognitive performance, immune support, sexual health, longevity, and other things, Victrix can help with that, too. And guys, right now, all Undaunted Lifers listening to this can go to www.victrixwellness.com/kyle to get a free consultation with one of Victrix's wellness coaches. That's victrixwellness.com/kyle. The link will be in the show notes. Guys, stop listening to random people on social media that don't know what they're talking about. Let my friends at Victrix wellness guide you. Again, go to victrixwellness.com/kyle. That's victrixwellness.com/kyle. >> That's also >> called maturity. That's what that's called. So, good job. All right. Speaking of, here's a question I want you to help me and and all the your audience on. So, where should uh your average, normal, I love Jesus, I listen to to Undaunted Life, I listen to a bunch of the sermons that you just mentioned, plus I go to my church, okay. Where should somebody like me get our news from? Cuz one of the things that I have the hardest time is the inputs. >> Yeah. >> Like there's no real news anymore. There's just slanted arguments about the things that are happening. So, do you just can you just turn on cable news? Is it Fox News, MSNBC, is it CNN, is it can you watch the cable news? I mean, can you is it websites, is it podcasts? So, where should if we're going to be informed citizens of this great country, where should we get our information from? Can you give us some resources or maybe a way to think about that? >> Yeah, I I kind of named some of the guys earlier, so I I kind of answered that by giving you an idea of the people that I listen to. But, I actually I was listening to your uh interview or sit-down with Howerton here recently. And the answer that I'm going to give is very similar to an answer that you gave on something that's tangential to this. Name the seminary you went to again? >> Uh Baptist Theological Seminary in Richmond. >> Yeah, uh it's basically seminary for heretics, right? You get training on how to not believe in the sufficiency of scripture and to question everything that God said, okay? So, people might be like, "Well, Joby is fruit of the poisonous tree of this horrible ministry. However, how did you approach your assignments? I I want you to explain it quickly. When you had to write a paper, what did you have to do before you turned it in? >> I had to get permission from my uh professors to write it twice as long. And I had to do the assignment, so I would say, "Here's the heresy that you taught us in this class." I would regurgitate what they taught me. And then I would say, "And this is biblical Orthodox Christianity." And then I had to go find my own sources that were actually people that trusted the sufficiency of Christ as revealed in his word. >> So, guys, keep that in mind as I say this. Your opinions on things that are all affected by the Shema, loving the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength, which does include politics, which does include culture, you cannot absolve yourself of responsibility there. You start with what the Bible says is right. You start with what this says is righteous, what this says is moral, what this says is godly, and what this says is sinful. You start here. And then you keep your brain on and then filter. So, in a day, I can listen So, you know, occurrence X happens, and I will get within 24 hours what Al Mohler thinks about it, what Ben Shapiro thinks about it, what Matt Walsh thinks about it, what Nick Freitas thinks about it. I don't typically get a pastor's perspective uh maybe ever, but at least I got to maybe perhaps wait until Sunday depending on the size of what's happening in the culture. Dennis Prager, those types of things, but then I filter it through what I know about their worldview and what I know about God's ideal worldview, okay? So the way that I can say that is I keep in the back of my mind that Dennis Prager and Ben Shapiro for instance don't believe in Jesus, okay? And so their morality comes from the Torah. It comes from the major and minor prophets. It comes from the wisdom literature, which we're not unhitchers here and so we're going to be pro all of those things, but we believe that they got part of the whole testament. They didn't get the the the latest part, right? And so I filter what they're saying through that lens and then I surmise what is true. And I will tell you I'll give you a big hint. If a So there are there are stuff that are just left-wing rag things, you know, New York Times and Slate and you know, Pod Save America. You should still listen to that just to see what crazy people think, but if a media institution says we are neutral, we're right down the middle, that is maybe the biggest media lie ever, right? Because people thought Walter Cronkite was a centrist. They thought he was a right down the middle journalist. He was a left-wing liberal. Like if you looked at his voting record and what he actually believed and the idea that they don't bring that with them into their commentary insane to me. So if someone's pretending to be moderate, if they're pretending to be third way, I would basically mark and avoid those people because I don't think there's any such thing. We are smuggling in a lot of of previous experiences and thought processes as we come into deciding what to think about this story or that story. So that that's probably a better answer than just here's the stuff that I that I consume on a weekly basis. >> That's good. Did I tell you I met Jack Carr? Did I tell >> No, no. Great dude. >> Yeah, great. So now we're on He's incredible. We were on vacation in Hawaii. We were in Lanai and we were hunting I was hunting she wasn't hunting. She was sitting by the pool. But I every morning and evening I was hunting axis deer through the pineapple brothers and he's a part owner of that. And so we we show up to the resort in our camo, you know, me and my buddy Graham Lemon who was with me and we're just eating breakfast. Everybody else is like in bathing suits and Hawaii wear and we're in Kuiu head to toe with binos and you know whatever. And he just walks over and he's like, "Hey man, you guys have been hunting?" And [clears throat] I was like, "God, this guy looks familiar." And he goes, "Yeah, hey, I'm Jack." I was like, "Wait a minute, [laughter] you're the Jack." Bro, he was so And then you know, when you stay at a place like that, you bump into somebody three or four times. So great. And then we had a flight home together. He was what a gracious man. All right, next thing. I want to do we're Do you have time? Is your assistant going to >> Uh wait, let me look for my assistant. Oh wait, it's me. Okay, yeah, we're good. >> I think it's that lion behind you. So, I want to do it just a little bit of a deeper dive on I'm not going to get the language like the five-headed hydra. >> Yeah. >> Okay. >> Hell's hydra. >> Just just in case somebody give me the 30,000 foot overview [clears throat] of the beast that is attacking the culture that you and I live in right now. The five heads of the hydra are >> Yeah, the the five heads of the hydra and the hydra if go back to Greek mythology, if you cut off one of its head, one or two will grow back. And so these are ideologies that are trying to take out image bearers of God and when you think they're dead, they pop back even stronger. So, fundamentalist Islam, socialism communism uh LGBTQ+ activism, globalism, and the most pernicious and the most deadly, which is the fifth one which I initially left off even though I I thought I should have, but I just left it off initially, feminism. Those are the five heads of the hydra. >> Okay. So, in our culture, you pick anyone you want. If I had time, I'd want you to unpack all of these, okay? This is me [clears throat] interviewing you like you interview a an author. You know, cuz I mean you spent a whole week on Daily Wire Blade on it. You've done a whole what? hour, two hour long podcast. So, people need to go listen to that if they missed it somehow. But, what do you think the allure is? Pick any of them. Like your average American that is being sucked down the road of whether it's the Islamists, whether it's socialism, that's a big one, whether it's the like LGBT people, all those things, the globalism, the feminism. What's the allure? >> Yeah. >> Because every hook is surrounded by allure. So, what is it about it that is appealing to red-blooded Americans that are waking up every day and they got a job to do and raising kids and they're running carpool line. And so, what is the allure? >> So, I'll say this. With socialism, communism, with LGBTQ+ activism, with globalism, and with feminism, they're things that just reasonable people can look at and be like, well, this sounds enticing. Well, doesn't that sound nice? Oh, the world would be better if things like that were happening more so like that. Islam doesn't have allure. It has a lure, right? It doesn't have an attractive quality to it, right? Because Islam is not evangelized. They They They create more Muslims via the womb and via forced conversion. Okay? And so, the the thing about fundamentalist Islam is because people that love the other four heads of the hydra just see a fellow traveler in the fundamentalist Muslim. They see them as, oh, this this poor brown person, this poor poor person, this this poor whatever, this this religious minority, this racial minority, whatever. We're going to We're going to take care of them. So, Daily Wire did the movie Run Run Hide Fight Infidels. You know, it's it's basically '80s, '90s action. So, it's not high cinema or anything like that. But, they basically show these, you know, purple-haired liberals that are helping along fundamentalist Muslims. And then, guess what the fundamentalist Muslims do after taqiyya has taken hold? They throw them off roofs. They kill them. They shoot them with their AKs. And so, that's that's the one that is incredibly it's it's flummoxing, if I if I can be honest, why so many the red-green alliance, why that's even a thing that even exists. And it's because >> So, maybe toxic empathy? >> Oh, yes. It's soft-hearted people that also have soft heads and no discernment. >> All right. I do think the lure of Islam would be the exact opposite of that. Would be like true toxic fleshly masculinity. Like, we're going to tell you what to do and you get to be in charge and be the boss. >> Actual patriarchy. Yeah. >> Yeah, okay. All right. So, um what do we do about it? So, we listen to your podcast. You clearly articulate like not just what's happening, but the why behind the what. You even link it to schemes of the enemy and even things like Marxism from 100 years ago infiltrating our culture. So, what is your average red-blooded Okie do about it? >> Yeah, it's an overwhelming thought, right? Because you listen to my show and you're all fired up to do something, and then that do something energy needs a direction to go. So, I'll explain it simply, but it's not easy to do. So, at the core of the all five heads of the hydra is one thing. Sin nature. >> Right? >> Mhm. >> And the father of lies will exploit sin nature in order to destroy you and others. Okay. I'm explaining it slowly because some of us are remedial, right? Looking at myself here. And I mean, I don't even know that you actually graduated from Dillon High School or if y'all even had one. Uh so, I'll say it slowly. There is one antidote to sin. And that's the gospel of Jesus Christ. Okay? So, what do I do with my Muslim neighbor that I'm now scared of? You evangelize them. What do I do with you know, the purple-haired liberal that's telling me that hey, you know, Chairman Mao had had some good ideas? The gospel. What do you do to the person that is, you know, outright going out there and saying yeah, I'm trans and you know, I can live my own life and all those things? The gospel. The person that thinks that we should build our own modern Tower of Ba- Babel. It's the gospel. What do we say to the woman that thinks she's actually her own God? And so, it doesn't need to be God, man, her, kids. She just puts herself at the top of everything. What do we say to that? We can address it. We can we can talk about all the different integers of the different world views and how they suck and how the philosophy ends in death. We can do all that cuz I did that. But only one thing can can fix it. And that's the gospel of Jesus Christ. Because that's the answer to all of it. Because at the core of the issue is sin nature, right? And you don't you don't affect sin nature by winning a debate at a college, even though I'm pro doing that. You don't affect sin nature if you address all the reasons why the ideologies are built out of clay and not out of, you know titanium. But I'm pro all that as well. But if there's no gospel in your message, then you are a Christless conservative. And that's about as useless as being a left-wing progressive. >> Well done. You answered my next two questions in your answer. Well done. My next question was what's the fundamental lie and what's the gospel response? That was your you way to go, man. Um I hope everybody listening will not just think things differently, but get out of here and do things differently. That's all I got. Got anything else you want to get off your chest, sir? >> I mean, I really just want to know what your rap name's going to be because you can't let the culture tell you and dictate to you. You don't get Again, like you're the guy that dictates terms. >> know. The best rap name my wife's name is Gretchen. Her Her maiden name was Nicely. So, G Nicely, would that be >> Yeah. Hey, I would go the full thing. G Nicely. So, we got her rap name, Lil G Nicely, okay? But, you got to have something and the funniest thing about it is I think you should stay with the, you know, the belt buckles and and the cowboy hats, but then just keep doing the rap thing when we drop that full mixtape. But, I can't drop a mixtape I mean I'm I mean I'm Kyle OKC. I've been Kyle OKC. I got rap videos on the internet. You guys can go find them. But, I'm just saying like we got to have something Again, I'm still with Pastor P. Pastor P and Lil G Nicely. Come on, dude. >> Pastor P Yeah, there's some other Pastor P's out there. I don't know what I would do, man. I'll have to think about it a little bit, all right? >> All right. >> Lil Bishop JP3 or something like that. >> 10% and Lil G Nicely. I love it. All right, Joe, we appreciate you, buddy. >> All right, buddy. Peace. >> Thank you, everyone, for listening to this episode.
