This is Undaunted Life of Man's podcast.
0:21
I'm your host Kyle Thompson.
0:22
Let's get into it.
0:23
All right, guys, we're going to keep this botching Afghanistan
0:25
series going with our special guest, Eddie Penny.
0:28
So Eddie is very special to this podcast,
0:29
because not only is my friend, my personal friend,
0:32
he was on episode 100 of this podcast,
0:34
and he was the very, very first interview we ever
0:36
did on Undaunted Life of Man's podcast.
0:38
But more importantly than that, he
0:40
is a retired Navy SEAL and Marine.
0:41
He was a member of Dev Gru, otherwise known as SEAL Team 6.
0:44
But again, this is a guy who lost friends in Afghanistan.
0:48
He lost brothers over there, right?
0:49
He served over there on multiple deployments,
0:51
put his life on the line in order to help the Afghan people
0:55
and to protect Americans here stateside.
0:56
So got to get his perspective on this,
0:59
and you will not be disappointed in what he had to say.
1:01
So without further ado, let's get into it.
1:04
Eddie Penny, thank you for coming back on the show.
1:06
I know this has kind of been a weird trying time for you
1:08
and a lot of guys that you know.
1:09
But as we've done with everybody else in this series,
1:11
I just like to back her away from the microphone
1:13
at the very beginning here and just give you some space
1:16
to just air out any of your initial thoughts
1:18
or really overall thoughts on the situation currently
1:21
going on on the ground in Afghanistan.
1:24
Yeah, the situation.
1:26
Before I even begin, everyone's got their own opinions
1:29
on this, we shouldn't be there,
1:30
we shouldn't be there, we should pull it out
1:32
whenever we should still be there.
1:33
And that's fine, that's awesome.
1:36
I don't have all the information.
1:37
No one really has all the information.
1:39
Those are unfortunately stuck away in some agency somewhere.
1:43
Hopefully they're on the right stuff with that.
1:44
It seems like they are not.
1:46
But to take in what happened a couple of days,
1:50
the pulling out, I was very sad by it.
1:54
I mean, I think it's great.
1:55
I don't like our troops going into harm's way,
1:57
but at the same time,
1:59
you can look at this two different ways.
2:00
You can look at it like we don't wanna send our troops,
2:02
we need to worry about back home
2:04
'cause we have our own issues and yes,
2:07
we have our own issues, absolutely.
2:09
The problem is though,
2:11
certain things overseas affect back home.
2:14
As in, if you don't disrupt certain networks of terrorism,
2:17
it is going to bite you in the butt
2:19
and it's gonna nail you in your home round.
2:20
So there's that train of thought.
2:23
We've been over there for 20, 21 years.
2:25
We spent a lot of money over there.
2:27
We got a lot of bad guys.
2:30
We lost a lot of good people.
2:31
A lot of people hearts and minds are into that mission.
2:35
It's a very, very bad country.
2:37
The people are treated horribly
2:40
by the Taliban that was there before.
2:42
Women's rights.
2:43
I mean, we talk about all these rights
2:44
for this person or that person.
2:46
We seem to coddle people here.
2:48
There's really not a lot of coddling over there.
2:50
It's a war-like camera to cut your head off
2:51
or shoot you in the face.
2:52
So that's one way to look at it.
2:56
We're worried about pronouns.
2:57
These guys are just worried about trying to stay alive.
3:00
And it's horrible.
3:01
That's not good business.
3:05
So me personally, I think we needed to withdraw somewhat.
3:10
I do think that we should maintain a presence there
3:14
of somewhat just to disrupt other networks.
3:17
And I wouldn't say go on an offensive
3:19
unless we get intelligence reporting
3:22
that this is happening and to deter that,
3:25
just like you would for,
3:26
if you found a burglar was gonna break into your house,
3:28
you would try to do whatever you could.
3:30
Like, hey, cops, I heard this.
3:32
Please be here, or this is the person that I, whatever.
3:36
So, and it's a great strategic location in the world
3:41
if you look what's around it.
3:43
So that's one thing.
3:45
But at the same time, you're dumping all this money
3:47
when we can be putting into the infrastructure
3:49
of the United States of America, roads,
3:51
schools would be a huge one.
3:53
Certain medications, hospitals, whatever it may be.
3:58
But it's a very crazy situation to deal with.
4:03
Period, no matter what, no matter what side of your on,
4:06
it's not just a cut and dry.
4:08
Do this and everything will be okay.
4:10
It's really not like that.
4:12
But the way the administration handled this is disgusting.
4:16
It is freaking gross.
4:18
I don't, and they've kind of handled that.
4:20
I mean, if you just look at the past few months
4:24
since this administration has taken over,
4:27
you pretty much hear one thing and one thing only,
4:31
and that is COVID, or the Coronavirus, or vaccinations.
4:36
Wear masks here, you need to do this.
4:38
Show your vaccination card, all this stuff.
4:42
And don't get me wrong, COVID is very real.
4:45
It can really destroy you.
4:46
It can kill people, but at the same time,
4:49
it's turnaround rate of you not dying is very minimal.
4:54
99 point, whatever the heck it might be,
4:57
I'm not a whatever doctor that is,
4:59
but what they do know is I am a doctor in freedom.
5:02
And the things that are put into place
5:05
are destroying freedom and liberties, and it's not okay.
5:08
It's not okay, it's not okay.
5:11
And so you put your mask and your vaccinations,
5:14
and they're just dumping all this money into whatever it is,
5:17
and you can be like Eddie or conspiracy theories.
5:19
Okay, cool, a lot of those conspiracy theories come true
5:22
a few months later, and you're like, holy crap,
5:23
that was truth, but there's money behind this.
5:27
Big pharma, get in the vaccine, get in the push.
5:30
There's kickbacks, that's kind of how it works.
5:33
And yeah, it's disgusting.
5:37
You can just see what, if someone puts their mind
5:39
to something, what they can do,
5:40
'cause everywhere you look, you're seeing some about COVID,
5:42
get a vaccine, wear a mask.
5:44
I mean, there's signs and where there's plexiglass.
5:46
So you can just see if a government
5:51
and gets everyone behind them, and as a goal,
5:54
what can it be, could be accomplished?
5:57
I mean, just think if we did that for,
5:59
okay, what's a proper way to get out of Afghanistan?
6:02
Or a proper way to make our school system better,
6:05
or whatever it is, there's so many bigger issues
6:07
than this bull crap pronoun fricking critical rate,
6:11
all this crap that you hear at, it's all rub it, it's crap.
6:16
I mean, there's bigger issues as we know,
6:19
like fatherless families, foundation of family,
6:23
the Christian church.
6:24
I mean, you just wanna go down the list.
6:25
I mean, there's issues across the board,
6:28
and if I call somebody a him or her and they're offended,
6:30
that's not it.
6:31
I don't have time.
6:32
Humans, we don't have time for that crap,
6:35
we don't have time for it.
6:36
I'm hoping we just, that's just it.
6:38
- Well, that's one thing that I was talking about
6:39
with some other folks as well.
6:40
It's where like, these people weren't clinging
6:42
to American planes as they were taking off,
6:45
because they were concerned about what the pronouns
6:48
the Taliban was gonna be using.
6:49
They weren't concerned about, you know,
6:51
what types of jobs they would have,
6:53
or whether or not they'd have to have a vaccine passport.
6:55
They were worried about getting their heads chopped off,
6:57
but before that, watching their family members
6:59
be raped and beheaded before they are beheaded, right?
7:01
So there's always this hierarchy, yeah, absolutely.
7:04
There's this hierarchy of things,
7:05
but you touched on a lot of things there,
7:06
but I'm gonna go back to the administration.
7:08
So obviously Joe Biden was basically gilted
7:11
into coming back to the White House,
7:13
he comes back from Camp David.
7:15
He spends 20 minutes looking into a teleprompter,
7:17
horribly reading words that someone else wrote,
7:19
then he hops back on his helicopter
7:21
and he goes back to Camp David.
7:22
And they're saying that he's supposed to be back
7:24
in the White House here soon.
7:25
I'm not sure if that'll be done
7:26
by the time this podcast is out.
7:28
But one of the main things he's gonna be talking about
7:30
is guests, COVID.
7:33
He's gonna be talking about COVID.
7:34
And it's like, wait a minute, wait a minute.
7:36
- It's a word, it's about COVID.
7:37
I don't wanna hear about your COVID crap.
7:39
Enough about it, enough.
7:41
- Well, let's kind of talk about that a little bit further
7:43
because COVID has always been the distraction
7:45
from every other real issue, right?
7:47
And then it's constantly moving goalposts
7:49
and whatever Dr. Fauci says we need to do,
7:51
whether or not we need to wear the mask.
7:53
Like that we're constantly changing how we do things.
7:56
But right now, this is one of the worst, just optically,
7:59
not even, let's not even talk about the human costs
8:01
of what's going on in Afghanistan right now.
8:03
Let's just look at the optics.
8:04
I can't think of a worse optic for the Americans
8:07
in terms of our foreign policy since 9/11,
8:09
which was something that happened stateside.
8:11
It wasn't happening somewhere else.
8:12
But we pulled our thumb out of the dam
8:14
and we just said, I guess we'll point at the Afghans
8:16
and call it a call to them problem
8:18
without mentioning the fact that 50,000 Afghan soldiers
8:20
have died in the last seven years,
8:22
trying to fight this battle.
8:23
And you can't just take away their air support overnight
8:25
and expect it to all kind of keep going.
8:27
So I want you to go a little bit deeper
8:28
on your thoughts on the administration,
8:30
specifically on how they've handled Afghanistan
8:32
up to this point. - Yeah.
8:33
Yeah, it's horrible.
8:34
It's like with anyone, like I said,
8:36
some people are like, hey, just pull out,
8:37
we should be dumping money into our country.
8:39
And I agree with that.
8:40
100%.
8:41
But you also got to think about foreign policy.
8:43
We want to make friends,
8:44
just like you want to make friends with your neighbor.
8:46
We, as a country, you got to look bigger picture here.
8:49
We want to make friends with certain countries.
8:52
We spent decades there, multiple presidents,
8:55
I think four, maybe five, over there.
8:59
And you can't go in, destroy a bunch of stuff
9:04
and leave without putting in,
9:05
this is my opinion, without putting in an infrastructure.
9:08
You got to do the right thing.
9:10
You really should do the right thing.
9:13
And that process can obviously happen
9:15
while you're still running combat operations,
9:17
taking it to the enemy, you know, building the schools,
9:20
making sure that your police force is good to go.
9:24
But then there's that fine line
9:26
where we pay in too much money
9:28
and these guys are fighting and training
9:31
for that dollar bill.
9:33
You start taking away funds.
9:35
Now the Taliban's coming back in
9:38
and the guys are like these warriors, Afghan warriors,
9:42
are worth the military.
9:43
Like, dude, I know what side's gonna win
9:45
based off of centuries of history of what it looks like.
9:50
So you can't do that.
9:52
Like, I would be very impressed,
9:54
like, hey, we don't want to keep dumping our money.
9:57
We don't want to keep doing that,
9:59
but this is important.
10:00
We've spent so much money and we need to build this.
10:02
And then methodically pull out ensuring
10:07
that we have those things in and there might be a pullout
10:09
and something bad happens that we need to search for.
10:11
That's war.
10:13
It's gross.
10:14
It's not fair.
10:15
It's disgusting.
10:17
It's not fair.
10:18
We try to play by these, oh, it's like this.
10:20
It's like this.
10:21
You know, we open these books.
10:22
Oh, you should do this.
10:23
You should, that's not how it is.
10:24
You've got to see the situation,
10:26
let it frickin' the target develop
10:28
and then you make your moves based off of that.
10:30
It's just, it's horrible.
10:32
And we're pulling out and we've got thousands
10:34
and thousands of American citizens left
10:38
by an administration that says,
10:40
"We care about your health and safety."
10:43
And that's bull crap.
10:45
And it just shows it right there.
10:46
You're, there are a bunch of hypocrites.
10:47
Everyone, a bunch of hypocrites.
10:49
- Well, they're saying they care
10:50
about their health and safety,
10:51
but Jen Psaki, the generals,
10:53
the other people from the State Department
10:55
that have been up in front of microphones,
10:56
they're being asked softball questions by the media,
10:59
which should be a surprise to nobody.
11:01
But they're basically like,
11:02
"Can you guarantee that you were going to get
11:05
all the Americans out that,
11:07
essentially that is humanly possible
11:08
to get out of Afghanistan?
11:10
None of them will guarantee it.
11:11
Okay?
11:12
- Yeah, sure, no guarantee it.
11:13
- Right, right now, they can't guarantee it.
11:16
- Right.
11:17
- They can't, I mean, before they did this,
11:18
they probably could have guaranteed it.
11:20
Like, yeah, let's start getting some people out.
11:22
And I guess my whole thing is,
11:24
it's just clearly a coordinated thing about Taliban.
11:27
With our technology, it like, it baffles me.
11:29
And I feel like this was somewhat, it had to be known.
11:33
You pick up chatter, you got informants,
11:35
you're running and all that stuff.
11:36
And, or it could have been just so well planned of attack
11:40
by these cave dwellers.
11:42
But I mean, don't get me wrong, they are smart.
11:44
They've been playing this game with people for,
11:47
since, you know, I was there to the great.
11:50
So, they're not dumb.
11:52
It's been passed on generation to generation.
11:53
They're warriors, they're fighters.
11:55
They've been fighters forever.
11:57
But we have this tech, I think called technology, money assets.
12:00
They don't have the assets,
12:02
minus the stuff that we give them,
12:03
depending on the decade.
12:05
- But the rhetoric, Eddie, like that's one thing
12:08
just hop back in the rhetoric
12:10
from the administration should be, yes,
12:12
we're gonna do everything we can to protect U.S. citizens.
12:16
But it's kind of been this like hodgepodgey,
12:18
him and in awe and type of thing.
12:19
And that's the thing that's kind of shocking to me
12:21
because it's like, say what you want about Trump,
12:23
but can you imagine if he were in office right now
12:25
and this had happened?
12:26
First of all, it probably wouldn't have happened
12:27
because he wouldn't have pulled him out.
12:28
It wouldn't have happened, but let's just
12:29
just believe.
12:30
- He's more terrified of him.
12:31
- Exactly.
12:32
- But let's just.
12:33
- Yeah, exactly.
12:34
- Somebody said to the dude, I ragged,
12:36
he found out where he went, but boom, done.
12:38
Done.
12:39
That's a terror.
12:40
- Yeah, Soleimani, like it's one of those things
12:42
where it's like, oh, are you gonna do something about it?
12:45
Like, hey, I took out one of your guys.
12:47
What are you gonna do about it?
12:48
And that's the thing is you have to show strength overseas
12:50
because now there's been a vacuum
12:52
that's been created by the United States
12:53
that's gonna be filled by Russia and China.
12:55
Now, India's gonna potentially be in a horrible spot.
12:58
There's gonna be a lot of issues in that area
13:00
that we strategically left without a plan.
13:02
And that's the thing that I just don't understand
13:04
from this administration is they're putting out messages
13:08
saying, we're gonna send a strongly worded letter
13:10
through the UN to make sure that the Taliban
13:13
doesn't violate people's rights,
13:14
especially women's rights and overseas.
13:16
And I'm like, a strongly worded letter,
13:19
a strongly worded letter.
13:21
Do you think these 8th century cave dwelling barbaric
13:25
Islamic fundamentalist give a crap about your letters?
13:28
Like, what are they supposed to go hide in a cave
13:30
in case one of your letters hits them in the head?
13:32
I don't understand the tactic right now.
13:35
- That's, there is no tactic.
13:36
That's a problem with this administration.
13:38
They're all about like handout candy
13:40
and give each other little care bear hugs.
13:42
That's just not how the reality of
13:44
when you're dealing with fighters
13:46
that are definitely of the opposite faith
13:49
of many of us back here.
13:50
They have a different law, Sharia law,
13:52
not all of them follow that, but some of them do.
13:54
And if you do any kind of research,
13:56
just do a quick look, you're like, holy crap,
13:57
that's pretty rad.
13:59
It's just, it's not a good thing.
14:01
You can't do the, hey, well, he gave me his word.
14:05
I know he's good for it.
14:06
That's just not how it works.
14:07
You gotta have some oomph behind, like, hey,
14:10
there's like, this is, if you do this,
14:13
we're gonna do this, boom, and that's it.
14:16
And does that mean you're probably gonna have
14:18
to kill some people?
14:19
Yes, that's, I hate to say this.
14:21
That's the way it works.
14:23
That is war.
14:24
It's been going on forever, and it'll continue to go,
14:28
but our administration cares about your mask,
14:31
your vaccines, making money, and other backdoor corruption.
14:34
That is going on, and again, that's my opinion,
14:36
but if you have been paying attention at all,
14:39
you would probably see the light, so.
14:41
Yeah, well, one thing that we can do
14:43
to kind of switch off the administration,
14:44
which we could spend the next hour just on them,
14:46
but you obviously are a tactical wizard.
14:49
I mean, from your time spent in the Marine Corps,
14:51
but also since you were an AV SEAL,
14:52
and Dev grew in those types of things,
14:54
you know what things will work on the ground
14:56
from a tactical perspective.
14:57
So you mentioned right from the top of the podcast about,
15:00
you agreed with the idea of us maintaining a presence there.
15:03
Again, most Americans had no idea
15:06
that we still have troops in Germany and in Korea
15:09
and in Japan, and that we hadn't lost a soldier
15:11
in Afghanistan for a year and a half,
15:13
and that it wasn't this warfare
15:15
that people had in their minds,
15:16
like it was Vietnam every single day
15:18
over and over and over.
15:19
Like it's, you know, it was all these horrible battles
15:21
over and over and over, but from your perspective,
15:23
tactically, what would you, if you were, you know,
15:26
pulling the strings, what would you have done in Afghanistan,
15:28
realizing that no, we don't want to be dumping billions
15:31
and billions of dollars every single year.
15:33
We don't want to lose American lives,
15:34
but we do want to keep the peace,
15:36
the relative piece that we had created over there.
15:39
- Unfortunately, I can't answer that as well.
15:42
I mean, I'll do, I'll shoot from the hip and do my best.
15:44
I don't have all the information
15:46
of what the current situation is,
15:48
what the government with the Taliban
15:50
and with us, what pot of money do we have,
15:53
what's been allocated to that?
15:54
So I don't have that information, but I do know this.
15:57
And I kind of mentioned it earlier,
16:00
is I think not, I don't think any Americans,
16:04
minus some war fighters in our military,
16:08
want to be overseas, taking it to bad guys.
16:11
Our families, we don't want our loved ones to go over there.
16:13
We want to be, I mean, we want to be training in case of,
16:17
but you know, when push comes to shove
16:19
and guys are flying over,
16:21
they're taking ships over to another country
16:23
where bullets are flying and bombs are coming down range,
16:26
no one wants that, it's war.
16:28
Like I said, there's blood and guts and there's tears
16:30
and people die, lose limbs, lose eyesight,
16:32
lose hearing, all these things.
16:34
And kids get raised without their dad or their mom
16:39
and that's not a good thing.
16:40
But at the same time, you do need to keep a president
16:45
and you give a perfect example
16:47
of having people in Germany, in Asia, in Africa,
16:51
in South America, in Central,
16:53
and in these different strategic places,
16:56
working with other government military,
16:58
developing that alliance, which is so important.
17:03
I mean, because we rely on allies, like we need them
17:08
and they need us.
17:10
You know, we're not this just huge, crazy superpower
17:12
that doesn't need anything.
17:13
That's not true.
17:14
You can see with what's going on, we need a lot.
17:17
Brains would be the first one I would go with.
17:19
But yeah, I would maintain a presence
17:22
and I would do a slow withdrawal
17:24
and I think that's what was going on
17:26
and I think President Trump,
17:27
and you know, I'm a huge Trump supporter,
17:30
but I don't believe with everything that Trump does,
17:32
that's true, like the vaccine push.
17:35
I never agreed with it, it doesn't work that way.
17:38
You need time to see what it is, what it works on.
17:41
So I was always against that.
17:43
Doesn't mean, I think he's a horrible guy.
17:44
I think he's awesome, he's got great policy.
17:47
But his thing was, hey, if you guys mess up
17:50
or start doing this crap, like you were doing before,
17:52
I'm taking you out.
17:54
And it was very firm about it.
17:55
And that seemed to be working.
17:58
And I'll tell you right now,
17:59
minus the Democrats in the far left, when Joe Biden,
18:03
I'm not gonna even say that he won
18:05
when he took that office,
18:07
the biggest people that celebrated
18:14
was every bad guy in this frickin' world,
18:17
because they're like, okay, we got a pushover.
18:19
And that's exactly what he is.
18:22
Biden is a frickin' pushover.
18:24
He has no back vote, he's spineless, man.
18:28
He's dirty, he's dirty.
18:30
I mean, he's just a dirty man.
18:31
- Well, you know, it's bad when, you know,
18:33
a higher up, I forget the guy's name,
18:34
but he was a higher up in the Obama administration.
18:37
And he basically came out and said,
18:38
this was before the election,
18:39
before it was, you know, done in November of 2020.
18:42
He came out and said, Joe Biden has basically been wrong
18:45
about every single international or world issue
18:48
in terms of foreign policy for the last 40 years.
18:51
He's been wrong literally about everything.
18:53
The most egregious example that most people know about
18:56
is he was like the only guy
18:57
that was against the bin Laden raid, right?
18:58
And you know, you can talk about the good or bad
19:00
or whether or not that was a useful thing to do.
19:02
But this guy's literally on the wrong side of history,
19:04
no matter what side he takes, right?
19:07
And so when you, yeah, for decades,
19:08
and you hand on the reins, and this is the thing,
19:10
and again, this isn't like a big, you know,
19:12
Trump versus Biden type thing.
19:13
But when people couldn't hold their nose
19:15
and vote for Trump in 2020, right?
19:18
Regardless if you think the election was stolen
19:19
or you think it was perfect,
19:20
and that Joe Biden got 80 million votes,
19:22
which is astonishingly more than Barack Obama,
19:24
if you believe that, right?
19:26
The thing about it is whenever you're voting for somebody
19:29
because you hate the other person,
19:31
you have to remember you're voting for somebody.
19:33
And that somebody has a brain that works to some degree,
19:37
and they have opinions and they have a track record.
19:39
And so you may think orange man bad.
19:42
You may look at the mean tweets
19:43
and you may say, oh, this is terrible, this is horrible.
19:45
But then you look at the other guy and say,
19:48
well, this guy is mentally decrepit,
19:50
and what's left of his brain
19:51
is not seeming to fire all of that well.
19:53
And that's kind of the issue that I have
19:55
with so many people is they're looking in astonishment
19:58
at Joe Biden, and they're wondering,
20:00
how can the world be so bad?
20:01
It's the post that you shared a while ago
20:03
with gas prices being so high.
20:05
The southern border being a joke,
20:07
not getting COVID under control, critical race theory,
20:10
we're teaching our kids that their classmates
20:12
are vectors of transmission and not people.
20:14
We're teaching them that they're inherently racist
20:16
and not people, but you're surprised
20:18
and shocked at all this.
20:20
So Twitter's more relaxed,
20:23
but you're shocked that this guy,
20:25
this boob is doing a bad job.
20:27
Every indication on the planet would point to the fact
20:30
that he was going to do a bad job.
20:32
But now you're getting me all mad and fired up.
20:34
But yeah, go ahead, I know you were wanting to help them.
20:36
- I'm getting fired up, you damn well should be.
20:38
It's kind of funny as people like,
20:39
oh, he needs to keep his mouth shut,
20:42
talking about Trump, like, oh, these mean tweets.
20:44
Are they really mean tweets?
20:45
Or are they just not sugar-coated?
20:47
He just kind of, you know, people can't handle the truth.
20:50
I mean, don't say he's not overstepped some of his things,
20:53
but isn't that better than a yes man
20:56
or just a bunch of someone that just spits out fluff?
20:59
That's the society we are right now
21:01
is where we don't even want the truth.
21:02
We want when we want to hear.
21:05
Even if it's not the truth, that's how we want.
21:07
It's like, people can't handle the truth.
21:09
Not to a few good men, Jack, listen to this,
21:11
but people cannot handle the truth.
21:13
It's like reality stings.
21:15
But the reality is not this frickin' like,
21:18
dancing in the field saying it's very brutal
21:21
and you can't have this mentality of you
21:23
doing your nine to five job, going to a cubicle,
21:25
you deal with your little garden in your house.
21:27
There's bigger issues out there, man.
21:29
And the reason why you have that
21:31
is because of people going across those bigger issues
21:34
and destroying the evil and it just blows my mind
21:38
and it doesn't blow my mind when that dude was whatever.
21:43
We knew, this is one year.
21:46
We got three more years in this crap
21:48
unless some miracle happens.
21:50
I'll be praying every night, so we'll see.
21:53
But dude, yeah, it's an embarrassment to this country
21:58
'cause this country is so amazing
22:02
and I know a lot of people across
22:04
like I got friends in a lot of countries
22:07
and a lot of different countries.
22:08
And we're not judged by one man/boy, the way he acts.
22:13
We're a strong country, we are.
22:16
It's just we got very bad leadership.
22:19
We have very poor leadership across the board,
22:21
it seems like, and they've got their priorities
22:24
all screwed up and that's what's happening.
22:26
- Yeah, elections have consequences
22:28
as Albert Mueller likes to say
22:29
and we're living some of those consequences
22:31
and unfortunately the Afghan people are living that.
22:33
But as we kind of bring this to a close Eddie,
22:35
'cause we got a lot more time in the future on future episodes.
22:37
We're gonna dig more into Trump and the government
22:39
and all that kind of stuff.
22:40
I wanna hear two messages from you right now
22:43
because I know that there are a lot
22:45
of Gold Star families right now that are confused
22:48
and hurting and angry and there are service members,
22:52
retired and active duty that are all of those same emotions.
22:56
And it's like there's so many things to be outraged about.
22:58
It's hard to know which one to pick to be outraged about.
23:01
There's so many things to be saddened to press about
23:03
so it's hard to pick exactly which one.
23:05
But what is your word to those Gold Star families
23:08
that have lost family members and loved ones?
23:10
What would you say to them?
23:11
'Cause there are a lot of them that listen to this show,
23:13
but then also as a veteran of a tier one group
23:17
in the United States military,
23:19
what would you say to those veterans
23:20
that fought over there in Afghanistan
23:22
who might be thinking that what they did was a waste?
23:25
- I would definitely say this.
23:27
I saw a lot of posts on this, a veteran saying we did this.
23:30
I lost my legs, it seemed like for nothing.
23:33
And I know it seems that way,
23:37
but let's not forget 21 decades, those heroes,
23:41
those men and women that went over there and fought
23:43
and unfortunately some passed, they made a difference.
23:47
They made a difference for people that were,
23:50
okay, 20 years ago, they might've been like six.
23:53
So now they're 27, 28 and maybe they're not joining Taliban.
23:58
They're making better decisions and trying to teach
24:00
their children the right way to be
24:03
and not go murder women and children
24:05
and make them your sex slave or whatever it is.
24:08
So I understand, I understand both sides of the coin.
24:12
I feel bad too.
24:13
I just remember seeing, witnessing some of the things
24:17
that I saw over there in Afghanistan,
24:18
what happened to these certain people over there
24:21
by these men or cowards, I should say.
24:26
But they made a difference.
24:28
They made a difference in a lot
24:29
and thousands of people's lives.
24:31
They saved a lot of lives, it might not seem that way,
24:34
but 100% and the men and women that did pass over there.
24:39
They did, they died doing a job
24:42
that they were definitely proud and worthy of
24:44
'cause it was protecting the United States of America.
24:47
And like I said, we have got to deter,
24:49
we have got to disrupt bad guys terrorist group,
24:51
whatever you wanna label it, we have got to disrupt it.
24:55
Because if not, it's just gonna build,
24:56
it's just gonna build, it's just gonna build.
24:58
And we don't wanna see another 911
25:01
or other terrorist activities on our homeland
25:04
or when you're vacationing to your favorite vacation spot
25:08
in another country, we just don't wanna see it.
25:09
So you've got to stop it.
25:11
But hats off to those men and women that went and fought,
25:14
especially the ones that passed and gave it all.
25:17
My heart goes out to them, my tears, I still cry for them.
25:21
They did the right thing.
25:24
They did the right thing.
25:25
And every Gold Star family should be extremely proud
25:29
and they did make a difference.
25:30
I know for a fact they made a difference.
25:31
It'd be foolish to say it was all for nothing
25:34
'cause that's not true.
25:36
- Eddie, I think that's a great place to leave it.
25:37
Thanks for coming back on.
25:39
- Thanks my friend, you take it easy.
