0:59 Welcome to day one of how to build a godly and manly foxhole.
1:03 I'm your host, Kyle Thompson of Undaunted Life.
1:06 Let's get into it.
1:07 So you've heard it all before that men are lonely, men don't have any friends, men don't
1:13 have other men that they can count on, men aren't engaged in the church in their homes
1:18 or at their workplaces, men aren't leading themselves or others.
1:22 You've heard a lot of things like this and even things that I didn't even list there.
1:26 And guess what?
1:28 That's pretty much true.
1:30 At least it is for a lot of men.
1:32 So many men are indeed lonely.
1:34 They don't have real close friends.
1:37 They don't have other men that they can actually count on.
1:40 They aren't engaged in any real way in the church or in their homes or at their jobs.
1:45 And they aren't leading themselves and they're especially not leading others.
1:49 And so guys, even if that doesn't describe you completely, at least some of that is true
1:54 for a lot of us and or you've really seen that in many of the people in your peer group.
1:59 So there are a lot of people that have really tried to figure out why this is because this
2:04 is an actual problem.
2:05 This is an issue for a lot of men.
2:06 This is an issue for a lot of people and the people that are trying to figure this out
2:10 are many.
2:11 So you have pastors trying to figure this out.
2:14 You know, what exactly is going on with the people inside of our flock?
2:17 Yeah.
2:18 Trying to figure this out.
2:19 Yeah.
2:20 I mean, they need to figure this out so they can get your vote.
2:21 But even psychologists and sociologists and anthropologists and on and on, they've all
2:26 wondered and many of them allowed why this is.
2:30 Why are these things true of so many men?
2:33 And there are a lot of reasons that are given for this and the reasons are varied and some
2:37 of them are random.
2:39 But one one that I've heard is the digital revolution.
2:41 So men are this way because we have cell phones and because we have social media and because
2:46 we can play video games online with people across the world.
2:49 And maybe there's some truth to that.
2:51 There's also people that talk about how the feminization of culture has potentially led
2:55 to that.
2:56 So we've had first, second and third wave feminism.
2:58 And that has led to the feminization of a lot of men and the masculinization of a lot
3:02 of women.
3:03 But that has caused some issues for men in our culture.
3:05 That's certainly a potential reason.
3:07 There's also the decline of the father, right?
3:10 And so I don't mean that in a heavenly sense.
3:12 I just mean that in the father, the father being there.
3:15 The father being in the home and we have rampant fatherlessness and the numbers for
3:20 fatherlessness and the stats, they keep getting worse year by year.
3:23 They don't get better.
3:25 We've even heard some arguments about maybe it's a reliance on the government as opposed
3:29 to our community or to ourselves.
3:31 Maybe that has something to do with it and this isn't a political show here, but there
3:34 are a lot of reasons that might go into that.
3:37 But I think there is some merit to some of those various reasons.
3:40 But I think that ultimately the reason, the real reason is simpler than that.
3:46 And it's this, men don't have a foxhole.
3:50 And I don't typically mean that in a military sense.
3:53 I mean, obviously some of you have been in a real foxhole.
3:56 That's been an actual experience that you've had.
3:58 But for most of us, I just mean generally and we'll get into much more detail as to
4:03 what a foxhole is in day five of this devotional.
4:06 But here's what a foxhole is in a nutshell.
4:09 A foxhole is a group of men that constantly push each other to be better.
4:14 So they're pushing each other to develop spiritual, mental, and physical resilience.
4:18 And we'll certainly get much more into that later, but they're also pushing them to be
4:21 a stellar husband, to be a phenomenal father, to be a successful person at their work or
4:27 in their business.
4:28 They're pushing them in all these ways.
4:30 Okay.
4:31 So in this devotional, we're going to get really, really practical towards the end.
4:36 All right.
4:37 I want to kind of take you on a journey for how you individually can build a godly and
4:42 manly foxhole.
4:43 So let me give you a breakdown of what the devotional is going to look look like in each
4:46 of these seven days.
4:47 Okay.
4:48 So day one, this is today, we're going to be talking about what makes a godly man.
4:52 We'll get to that here in just a second.
4:53 Day two, what makes a manly man?
4:56 Day three, can you be both godly and manly?
5:00 Day four was Jesus a manly man.
5:03 Day five, what is a foxhole? Day six, why do men need a foxhole and day seven?
5:10 How do you build and maintain your foxhole?
5:12 Okay.
5:13 So for day one of this devotional, we're going to answer the question, what makes a godly
5:18 man?
5:19 And as with most things that are worth answering that you need an answer to, you need to go
5:22 to scripture for guidance.
5:23 And today is going to be a little bit different than the other six days of this devotional.
5:27 Today is going to be rapid fire scripture day.
5:29 Okay.
5:30 Other days, we will go deep on certain scriptures or on certain stories from the Bible.
5:34 But today we're going to be focus, you know, focusing mainly on the macro story, right?
5:38 30,000 foot view, the macro narrative.
5:41 So the two ways that I want to formulate how we're going to operate today is we're going
5:45 to look at two things.
5:46 The first thing is truce outside the self.
5:50 And the second thing is truce displayed publicly.
5:53 Okay.
5:54 So truce outside of self.
5:55 That is basically the narrative of humanity.
5:57 Okay.
5:58 So truce displayed publicly, that's where we're really going to get tangible and answer
6:02 the question, what makes a godly man?
6:05 So let's go ahead and get into the first one here.
6:06 And that's truce outside the self.
6:08 That's the narrative of humanity.
6:09 And so by that, I mean that these are truths that exist outside of you.
6:14 Okay.
6:15 You can't cause or change these truths, but you do have to participate in them, right?
6:20 They're true whether you believe in them or not.
6:22 It's kind of like gravity.
6:23 Like we don't get to opt into whether or not gravity is real.
6:25 If we jump off a building, we're not going to float into outer space.
6:28 We're going to hit the ground.
6:29 That's just basically the reality.
6:30 You don't have to believe in it.
6:32 It's just true.
6:33 But here is the story.
6:35 This is the narrative of humanity.
6:38 We were created to be like God.
6:42 We blew it.
6:44 We now require deliverance to become pure before the eyes of a holy and just God.
6:49 God sent Jesus to pay for the sins of humanity.
6:53 We simply have to accept God's free gift of grace and salvation.
6:58 That's the story of humanity.
6:59 So we're going to break down each one of those individually because this will really
7:02 help us crescendo towards answering the question is what is a godly man?
7:06 So the first part, we were created to be like God.
7:09 So we see this in Genesis one verse 27 and says this.
7:13 So God created man in his own image in the image God he created him male and female.
7:18 He created them.
7:20 And so just as a quick housekeeping thing, I'm going to be reading from the English standard
7:24 version for all of these.
7:25 So if you're wondering which version I'm going to be in, it will be the ESV.
7:28 But again, they're in Genesis one 27.
7:31 That's the definition of godliness.
7:33 It's literally being like God sharing the characteristics and makeup of God.
7:39 So we were created to be like him.
7:42 But then we get into the next part of the story, which is that we blew it.
7:45 And that's Genesis three one through 24.
7:48 And I'm not going to read that for you here.
7:50 You can read that on your own.
7:51 It'll certainly be in the notes.
7:52 But this that's the story of the fall and the story of the fall, frankly, is the story
7:56 of us all that that's how we got to where we are right now, regardless of the situation
8:01 you're in, it's broken in some form or fashion.
8:04 But I do want to point out one little bit of detail and that's in Genesis three one.
8:07 So the very first, the very first first of that chapter.
8:10 Now the serpent was more crafty than any other beast of the field that the Lord God had made.
8:15 He said to the woman, did God actually say you shall not eat of any tree in the garden?
8:22 So this is just an interesting thing.
8:24 This is our enemy.
8:25 And our enemy is so unbelievably crafty and you got to give it up to the devil because
8:29 a lot of people think the devil does these these incredibly insanely evil things and
8:33 he certainly does.
8:34 But it's those little mistruths, those little times when he knocks you off of your your
8:40 guided path, that that's how he really gets you.
8:43 And that's all it really took for us to blow it for us as humanity as a creation of God
8:49 to blow it.
8:50 Let me get into the next part of the story here and that's that we now require deliverance
8:54 to become purer before the eyes of a holy and just God.
8:58 And we see this with Romans three twenty three for all have sinned and fall short of the glory
9:03 of God.
9:04 Okay, we cannot present ourselves before the eyes of a holy and just God.
9:09 If we are in pure and we require deliverance for that purity.
9:13 Next part of the story is that God sent Jesus to pay for the sins of humanity.
9:17 So in Luke 19, 10, we see Jesus say this for the son of man came to seek and to save lost.
9:25 And then that really goes nicely into the second Corinthians five twenty one.
9:28 This is Paul speaking for our sake, he made him to be sin who knew no sin so that in him,
9:34 we might become the righteousness of God.
9:38 God sent Jesus so that we could have a path to the father.
9:42 And then the last part of the story here is that we simply have to accept God's free gift
9:46 of grace and salvation.
9:48 And so we're going to go back to Paul.
9:49 This is Romans 10 versus nine through 10.
9:53 Because if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that
9:57 God raised him from the dead, you will be saved for with the heart one believes and is justified
10:02 and with the mouth one confesses and is saved.
10:06 So everyone that that is the story that we're living in.
10:09 That's the narrative of humanity.
10:10 Again, we were created to be like God.
10:13 We blew it.
10:15 We now require deliverance to become pure before the eyes of a holy and just God.
10:20 God sent Jesus to pay for the sins of humanity.
10:22 And we simply have to accept God's free gift of grace and salvation.
10:27 Now, that kind of sets the tone that sets the stage for where we're at in terms of this
10:32 story.
10:33 And you're going to find yourself somewhere in that story.
10:36 But this leads us to the truths that are displayed publicly.
10:39 The second big thing that we're going to be talking about.
10:41 And this is where we really start to answer what makes a godly man.
10:44 Because a godly man has to exist inside that narrative, right?
10:47 There are there are parameters to this story.
10:49 And so what I was able to do is it's go to the scriptures to clean out 10 main characteristics
10:55 from the Bible of what a godly man is.
10:57 And certainly there are more and I probably could have, you know, cut this list down a
11:01 little bit, but these 10 just they're just screaming from scripture for us.
11:05 So this will really set the tone for the rest of the days of this devotional.
11:08 So we'll go to number one here, a godly man has surrendered his life to Christ.
11:14 So we look at Galatians 2, 20, I've been crucified with Christ.
11:18 It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me and the life I now live in the
11:22 flesh.
11:23 I live by faith in the son of God who loved me and gave himself for me.
11:27 So so that's a pretty simple thing from the very beginning.
11:31 You can't really be a godly man if you haven't surrendered your life to Christ.
11:34 I mean, that that's pretty basic Christianity, one of one type stuff.
11:38 And I know there's a lot of people listening to this that are on kind of that early scale
11:41 that, you know, that very immature scale of being coming a Christian and then you have
11:44 a lot of mature Christians.
11:45 Maybe you've been a Christian for decades, but that's where this all starts.
11:49 If you haven't surrendered your life to Christ, then you can't be a godly man.
11:53 It's impossible.
11:55 So the second thing here is a godly man is selfless, not selfish, selfless.
12:00 So we're going to go to Matthew 16, 24 and 25.
12:05 Then Jesus told his disciples, if anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take
12:11 up his cross and follow me for whoever would save his life will lose it.
12:15 But whoever loses his life for my sake, we'll find it.
12:18 So this is Jesus from the very beginning talking to his disciples and it's like, you know,
12:23 how do we do this?
12:24 How do we do this whole following you thing, becoming a disciple of you thing?
12:27 Like how do we make that happen?
12:29 And he said to deny yourself.
12:32 Don't worry about yourself because I've got you.
12:36 I'm Jesus.
12:37 Like I'm, I'm going to make sure you're okay.
12:39 You just worry about following me.
12:42 That's all you need to worry about.
12:43 Be selfless.
12:44 Don't think about your needs.
12:45 I've got you squared away.
12:46 I've got you taken care of.
12:48 Awesome.
12:49 So number three, a godly man strives for holiness.
12:53 And I really want to put emphasis on that word strives for holiness, not, you know, things
12:58 they might become holy at some point and thinks that they should do holy things from time
13:01 to time.
13:02 No, no, no, you are striving for holiness.
13:04 So we see this in 1 Peter 1, 13 through 18.
13:08 Therefore, preparing your minds for action and being so reminded, set your hope fully
13:13 on the grace that will be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ.
13:17 As obedient children do not be conformed to the passions of your former ignorance, but
13:21 as he who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct.
13:26 Since it is written, you shall be holy for I am holy.
13:30 And that last part there, that is a reference to Leviticus 1144.
13:33 So godly man strives for holiness.
13:36 That is something that you're just looking at every single day.
13:38 How can I be holy in all these situations that I'm going through?
13:42 Number four, a godly man is repentant.
13:45 So we see this in 1 John 1, 9, if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive
13:51 our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness, repentance.
13:56 And that just doesn't mean saying, Oh, God, I'm a real story about that bad thing I did.
14:00 No, it's, it's turning away from a lifestyle of sin.
14:04 That's what a godly man does.
14:06 And you make a habit of that, right?
14:08 You look for those deep and dark pockets of your life where you've got some sin, you've
14:12 got some things that you're hiding from the people that you love, things that you think
14:15 you're hiding from God, which if we see in Genesis, that's just not a possible thing
14:18 for you to do, but a godly man is repentant.
14:21 And I would even add to the scripture there, I know you're not supposed to do that, but
14:25 I would add a little bit there and just say, repent quickly.
14:28 So this isn't like a, you know, long, arduous process of, well, let me just think through
14:32 this, let me just kind of make sure, let me do a flow chart.
14:35 Let me kind of figure out, you know, pros and cons lists, whether or not I should repent
14:39 now.
14:40 No, you recognize via the Holy Spirit that what you've done is wrong and sinful and is going
14:44 to hurt the heart of God.
14:46 And you repent immediately for that.
14:48 And then number five, a godly man loves his wife as Christ loved the church.
14:54 So you probably knew this was going to happen.
14:56 We're going to go to Ephesians five here.
14:58 So we're going to look at 20 or 22 through 30.
15:02 Christians love your wives as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her that
15:05 he might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the word so that
15:10 he might present the church to himself and splendor without spot or wrinkle or any such
15:15 thing that she might be holy and without blemish.
15:17 And the same way husbands show love should love their wives as their own bodies.
15:23 He who loves his wife loves himself for no one ever hates his own flesh, but nourishes
15:28 it and cherishes it just as Christ does the church because we are members of his body.
15:34 And so I should obviously throw in here.
15:36 Some of you don't have wives.
15:38 I've got some young men listening to this or some folks that maybe have never been married
15:41 before, but a godly man loves his wife as Christ loved the church.
15:45 So don't just skip over this one because you're not a husband.
15:49 Don't just skip over this because you don't have a wife currently because if you are not
15:54 married currently and you're not called to a life of singleness, this is what you strive
15:58 for.
15:59 This is the target.
16:00 Think about it like working out like, you know, maybe you're younger and you want to
16:03 be a power lifter someday or you want to be an Olympic level wrestler or something like
16:06 that.
16:07 You can look to people that already have attained that type of status or really accomplished
16:12 what you're looking to accomplish, even though you don't have that right now.
16:16 So that's kind of an easy and maybe even a silly example.
16:19 But for those of you that are single that are not married, this is the standard.
16:23 So you shouldn't be waiting for that, that first, you know, marriage counseling session
16:28 to figure out, okay, what am I supposed to be?
16:30 What's my role here as a husband?
16:32 You should know that now and for those of you that are married, again, that's the standard.
16:37 A godly man loves his wife as Christ loved the church.
16:41 And that is just a mind blowing thing to even think about because of how deeply and outwardly
16:47 Christ loved the church.
16:48 So that's very important.
16:49 Then we have number six, a godly man is sexually pure.
16:54 Mm.
16:55 Yeah, I had to go there.
16:56 I'm sorry, guys.
16:57 Well, actually, no, you know what?
16:58 I'm not sorry.
16:59 I'm not sorry at all that I went there because this is incredibly important for every man
17:02 because this is a tremendous struggle for a lot of guys.
17:05 And so let's look at first Corinthians six and six, 18, flee from sexual immorality.
17:11 Every other sin a person commits is outside the body.
17:14 But the sexually immoral person sins against his own body.
17:17 Now guys, I know this is going to be the tough one because there are beautiful women everywhere.
17:24 There is pornography everywhere.
17:26 There is explicit jokes and language and videos and clips everywhere you look, even when you're
17:33 not looking for them, they will find you.
17:36 But a godly man is sexually pure and that starts with your eyes.
17:41 When you're tempted to look at someone or something that you know is not for you.
17:46 It's not your spouse, right?
17:49 Are you bouncing your eyes off into the next thing?
17:52 Are you praying to God?
17:53 Hey, help me in this moment because I'm finding this to be a tempting situation.
17:57 I want to look at the waitress or I want to look to that at that person on the beach.
18:01 Do I need to take myself out of this situation, Lord?
18:04 You do what's required of you to remain sexually pure, realizing that as a man, you are wired
18:11 to not do that.
18:12 You are wired to look around and gaze on all these beautiful things that God's created
18:16 and you have a bunch of dumb friends that are telling, "Oh man, it's just natural.
18:19 It's just looking.
18:20 It's no big deal."
18:21 But you know better.
18:23 A godly man knows better, that that's not just checking out the waitress.
18:30 You're doing something with her without actually doing it to her.
18:33 The standard is clear that Jesus set out for us, that if you looked after a woman and
18:37 lusted after her, you've already had sin in your own heart.
18:40 You've already adulterred in that situation.
18:43 We have to avoid that regardless.
18:46 A godly man is sexually pure.
18:48 The next one here, number seven, a godly man protects his mind and this goes back to number
18:53 six.
18:54 It's hard to be sexually pure if you're not protecting your mind, but this also is applicable
18:59 as a standalone.
19:00 A godly man protects his mind.
19:01 Second Corinthians 10-5, one of my favorite scriptures ever.
19:04 We destroy arguments in every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God and take
19:09 every thought captive to obey Christ.
19:13 So again, like I said, this can be applied individually, but I do want to attach it to
19:16 number six.
19:17 That's why these are back to back.
19:18 But if you're tempted to check out somebody, if you're tempted to look at somebody and
19:22 lust after them, you need to take that thought captive.
19:25 You need to take a captive immediately and make it accountable to Christ because in that
19:31 time, you're going to have that discussion with yourself where it's like, "Oh, I'm just
19:34 looking.
19:35 It's no big deal.
19:36 This happens all the time.
19:37 You know, all those silly, stupid, immature examples."
19:40 But in that moment, you know, as a godly man, you're not allowed to do that.
19:45 And so taking that back down to where we're talking about just being able to protect your
19:47 mind, that also applies to cultural things.
19:51 Perhaps somebody is trying to explain something to you or argue something politically or philosophically
19:55 that you know is counter to what God would want for the world.
19:58 God would want for that situation or God would want for you or that person.
20:02 And you have to protect your mind and keep those bad thoughts out, those bad arguments
20:07 out.
20:08 You don't want them to kind of creep in.
20:10 And again, this isn't a political show today, but there are a lot of things happening in
20:13 the political climate, in the culture at large that are having that effect on people, that
20:18 are having that effect on the church.
20:20 We're seeing this slow creep of culture to where now the church is downstream of culture
20:25 as opposed to the other way around.
20:27 That's an issue.
20:28 So a godly man protects his mind.
20:31 Number eight, a godly man is humble.
20:34 Robert was 27 to let another praise you and not your own mouth, a stranger and not your
20:40 own lips.
20:41 And I know for some of you, maybe you're competitive.
20:44 Maybe you were trying to be top of your class or trying to get the big time job or trying
20:48 to make sure everyone knew your name.
20:50 And the temptation when you're doing that is to be the one beating your own chest, right?
20:54 The one that's got the neon sign blinking above you saying, no, no, hey, everybody listen
20:58 to me.
20:59 Everybody look at me.
21:00 This is how good I am.
21:01 This is how talented I am.
21:02 Amazing. I'm going to be if you let me be a part of your team, but a godly man is humble.
21:08 Some of the best men that I know, I've never heard them talk about the things that they've
21:13 accomplished.
21:14 I have two mentors specifically that come to mind.
21:17 These men just don't to throw in horn.
21:19 They don't even have a horn, right?
21:21 Like if they do, it's a rusty one that's like in the shed or something like that.
21:25 These guys just remain humble, but they're incredibly successful.
21:32 They have incredibly strong marriages and relationships in their life, but they don't
21:36 have to tell you about it.
21:38 So for some of you, that's just natural.
21:40 You never to your own horn, but for others of you, maybe there's a pride issue there.
21:44 For me, that's certainly been an issue to where it's like, no, no, I need people to
21:46 know this is happening.
21:47 I need them to know I had this great idea, but it's not about you.
21:51 Again, we should be pointing people to the father and a great way of doing that is to
21:56 remain humble.
21:57 Number nine, a godly man does not rely on his own strength alone.
22:03 So for Olympians for 13, I can do all things through him who strengthens me.
22:07 Now I will say that that scripture has been on basically every football helmet and you
22:12 know, every basketball halftime speech, like it's, it's, it's out there for all those
22:16 reasons.
22:17 God probably doesn't mean he's helping you score a touchdown or helping you get up that
22:22 last, you know, rep on bench press.
22:24 That's probably not what God's talking about.
22:26 He's probably letting you know that, Hey, you're weak.
22:32 You are especially weak.
22:33 If you operate without me, however, again, this is God talking, if you rely on my strength,
22:41 you will be strong because for us, especially men, we think we can do it.
22:47 Even if we're, we're kind of unsure, we're going to try, no, I don't need your help.
22:52 No, I'm just, I'm going to do it myself, a bootstraps or whatever, pull myself up by
22:55 my bootstraps.
22:56 Like this is just the way that we're going to do it.
22:58 That's not necessarily how you should be operating.
23:01 And certainly that is not what a godly man would do because in almost every situation,
23:06 we are not enough to get the job done.
23:08 Sure.
23:09 You might be able to fix the sink.
23:10 Sure.
23:11 You might be able to throw a spiral 30 yards or 40 yards or 50 yards.
23:14 Maybe.
23:15 Maybe that's you.
23:16 But you don't have the strength to take care of everything.
23:19 And I don't just mean your list of things to do for the day.
23:23 I mean, just in general, you don't have the strength to be a good husband all the time.
23:28 You don't have the strength to be a doting father all the time.
23:31 You don't have the strength to be the best friend that anyone that ever runs into you
23:34 can be.
23:35 And all those moments, you have to rely on God and especially in those times when you're
23:39 knocked down, when life has just punched you in the gut, you've lost the job.
23:43 You took that phone call and lost a family member and dropped to your needs.
23:47 In those moments, you are not enough.
23:50 And that is the best news I could have given you because a godly man would never just rely
23:55 on their own strength.
23:56 They would rely on the strength of God, the strength of the father.
24:00 And the last one here, number 10, a godly man loves God and his neighbor.
24:06 So we're going to look at Mark 12 28 through 31.
24:09 And one of the scribes came up and heard them disputing with one another and seeing
24:13 that he answered them well, asked him, which commandment is the most important of all?
24:18 Jesus answered, the most important is hero Israel, the Lord, our God, the Lord is one.
24:24 And you shall love the Lord, your God with all your heart and with all your soul and
24:29 with all your mind and with all your strength.
24:32 The second is this, you shall love your neighbor as yourself.
24:36 There is no other commandment greater than these.
24:40 So guys, as I reminded you from the beginning, this is not an exhaustive list, right?
24:44 This is just 10 that I pulled out that I thought were the most potent and the most pertinent
24:48 for you and applicable immediately.
24:49 So this is the list again of kind of what makes a godly man.
24:52 Number one, a godly man has surrendered his life to Christ.
24:56 Number two, a godly man is selfless.
24:58 Number three, a godly man strives for holiness.
25:01 Number four, a godly man is repentant.
25:04 Number five, a godly man loves his wife as Christ loved the church.
25:07 Number six, a godly man is sexually pure.
25:11 Number seven, a godly man protects his mind.
25:14 Number eight, a godly man is humble.
25:17 Number nine, a godly man does not rely on his own strength alone.
25:21 And number 10, a godly man loves God as his neighbor.
25:24 All right, guys, we're going to wrap up with some questions for you to consider.
25:27 And we're going to do that with each one of these days because I want to give you some
25:30 things to chew on.
25:31 And here's the thing, these are questions for you to ask yourself.
25:34 So before you move on to the next thing, here are some questions for you to chew on.
25:38 Number one, where do I fit into the narrative of humanity?
25:43 So go back to the beginning part of this episode where we talked about that narrative humanity.
25:48 Where are you?
25:50 You know, because there is a need to believe the good news of the gospel and to accept
25:55 Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior because the rest of the stuff that we talked about in
25:59 the episode, the godly mischaracteristic, you could have some of those, but it has to
26:03 be in the right order.
26:05 And so it starts with you accepting Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior.
26:08 And if you haven't done that right now, say a prayer, say a prayer and ask Jesus to come
26:13 into your heart, to come into your life, to be the Lord of your life and dedicate yourself
26:18 in that prayer to serving him.
26:20 Certainly do that.
26:21 So that's number one.
26:22 Where do I fit into the narrative of humanity?
26:25 The second question for you to chew on is this, how many of the godly attributes listed in
26:30 this devotional do I possess?
26:33 And this is kind of a tough one because if you look at that list, if you write them down
26:36 or go into the notes and look at that list of 10, man, it's going to be hard for some
26:41 of you to even check off one box.
26:43 And I'm not saying that that's a bad thing for you.
26:45 I'm saying you're normal.
26:47 I mean, do some of those people check off one or two boxes?
26:51 I mean, it's going to be almost impossible to not, you know, to accomplish what you're
26:56 trying to accomplish in that situation. And then the third one we have is this, do I
27:01 have men around me that are pushing me to sharpen or develop these godly attributes?
27:06 And this is where the rubber really meets the road with the remainder of what we're
27:10 going to be talking about today.
27:11 Do I have or not today, but with this entire devotional do I have men around me that are
27:16 pushing me to sharpen or develop these godly attributes?
27:20 And then what I would add to that is am I doing that for other men?
27:24 So again, the three questions for you today, where do I fit into the narrative of humanity?
27:29 How many of the godly attributes listed in this devotional do I possess?
27:33 And do I have men around me that are pushing me to sharpen or develop these godly attributes?
