0:51 I'm your host Kyle Thompson.
0:52 Let's get into it.
0:53 You guys on September 30th of this year, so this was just about a week ago as a recording
0:58 of this podcast, Chrissy Teigen.
1:00 It's a name you might know.
1:01 She's a very famous model and celebrity and she is married to a very famous singer and
1:06 celebrity named John Legend, but she posted on her social media that her and her husband,
1:11 John Legend, they let everyone know that they had suffered a miscarriage.
1:16 She let everyone know by posting across all of her different social media accounts and
1:20 she has millions and millions and millions of followers, and guys, they were just gut
1:26 wrenching pictures.
1:27 I mean, on Twitter, there was just this one picture.
1:29 She's kind of slumped over in a bed.
1:30 It's clearly a delivery room bed.
1:32 There's a nurse in the background and she's just, you know, she's got her gown on and
1:36 she's crying and it's absolutely saddening.
1:40 And then some of the other pictures, like on her Instagram, if you scroll through, you
1:44 will see pictures of her and John Legend, you know, she's holding the baby and they're both
1:48 kind of cuddling.
1:49 This absolutely, absolutely gut wrenching.
1:52 And I'm going to go ahead and read what she posted.
1:54 So she posted a few paragraphs on her different social medias, but it was all the same message.
1:59 So go ahead and read that here.
2:00 So it's quote, we are shocked and in the kind of deep pain you only hear about the kind
2:05 of pain we've never felt before.
2:06 We were never able to stop the bleeding and give our baby the fluids he needed despite
2:10 bags and bags of blood transfusions.
2:13 It just wasn't enough.
2:14 We never decide on our baby's names until the last possible moment after they're born.
2:18 Just before we leave the hospital, but we for some reason had started to call the little
2:22 guy in my belly Jack.
2:24 So we so he will always be Jack to us.
2:27 Jack worked so hard to be part of our little family and he will be forever to our Jack.
2:32 I'm so sorry that the first few moments of your life were met with so many complications
2:36 that we couldn't give you the home you needed to survive.
2:39 We will always love you.
2:40 Thank you to everyone who has been sending us positive energy thoughts and prayers.
2:44 We feel all of your love and truly appreciate you.
2:46 We are so grateful for the life we have for our wonderful babies Luna and miles and for
2:50 all the amazing things we've been able to experience.
2:53 But every day can't be full of sunshine on this darkest of days.
2:56 We will grieve.
2:57 We will cry our eyes out, but we will hug and love each other a harder and get through
3:01 it.
3:02 And then in subsequent posts on her different social medias, it was just, you know, she
3:07 was posting that, you know, we're driving home without a baby.
3:09 How is this real life?
3:10 I mean, absolutely, absolutely gut wrenching.
3:14 And the public reaction has been just an overwhelming amount of love and support towards Chrissy
3:20 Teigen to John Legend and their entire family, obviously an incredibly sad situation.
3:26 And that was where most people's thoughts went initially was be with them during this
3:29 sad time.
3:30 They're a very, very public couple, right?
3:33 And they've been kind of easy to pick on because John Legend says, you know, if Trump's elected
3:37 to do a second term, he's going to move out of the country.
3:39 But him and Chrissy had just bought, you know, basically an $18 million mansion in Beverly
3:42 Hills.
3:43 They're just a very public couple, right?
3:46 You know, there's a lot of things that you can make fun of or, you know, aspire to or
3:49 whatever you want to do in terms of how you view them.
3:52 But when something like this is happening, this is subject matter that's touched a lot
3:57 of people and they've been very open about it.
4:00 And so open that some of the secondary thoughts people were having is that this family in
4:04 Chrissy Teigen specifically was oversharing, right?
4:07 Oh, well, you know, you really shouldn't go to social media with stuff like this.
4:11 Like, isn't that just a bit much?
4:14 And I got to say, I could not disagree more with that sentiment.
4:18 I couldn't disagree with it more because the interesting thing about miscarriage is no one
4:25 really knows what to say or do with a miscarriage.
4:28 I mean, that that includes inside the church because, you know, it's, it's somehow almost
4:34 like a junior varsity loss, right?
4:36 The varsity losses are like when you lose, you know, a child that's been born or when
4:40 you lose your spouse, you become a widow or widower, you know, when there's some sort
4:43 of a tragedy that that takes life, that a miscarriage just doesn't seem to be to that
4:48 same level.
4:49 Right?
4:50 I mean, I go into detail and thoughts like that and in on my own experience of loss in
4:53 episode 71 of this podcast, just called loss.
4:56 And this was after my wife and I suffered a second miscarriage, right?
5:00 You know, after the first one, I didn't tell anybody, didn't really know what to say.
5:03 You know, oh, this, you know, this happens in one and five pregnancies and it's really
5:06 not that big a deal, but we felt pain and loss, but we didn't really know where to go
5:10 with it.
5:11 And then after the second one, it's like, no, this freaking sucks.
5:13 This sucks really bad.
5:14 This hurts.
5:15 This hurts really bad.
5:16 Like, you know, we lost a second kid is the way that we saw it.
5:19 And you know, I kind of even over shared and I talked about it on this on this podcast.
5:23 And so, um, I think that her sharing that and their family's decision to share that was
5:28 a positive thing.
5:30 I really do think it was a positive thing that there's just not enough discussion around
5:35 miscarriage.
5:36 And I've had several people reach out to me after episode 71 of this podcast to, to share
5:40 their own story of miscarriage and loss and how they just, you know, there aren't guys
5:45 that talk about it, right?
5:46 Because this is a very woman thing, right?
5:48 It's taking place inside her stomach and it's part of her body at the time and she's nourishing
5:54 the baby and keeping it alive inside of her body.
5:56 And so, you know, what does the man do other than just kind of sit idly by and make sure
5:59 that she's comfortable and rub her feet, right?
6:01 But it kind of gave them a voice.
6:03 So I was glad that I over shared, according to some people's thoughts.
6:07 But I mean, overall guys, I just feel a tremendous, genuine amount of sadness for this family.
6:13 And I think that's, that's the appropriate feeling.
6:15 Again, these aren't people that you know personally or that I know personally, but it's
6:20 still okay to feel sadness for somebody like that.
6:22 I mean, I even talked about it.
6:23 If you go back to my Kobe Bryant podcast, it was kind of this weird deal where they're
6:26 you're, I'm surrounded by people that were mourning the death of a man that they didn't
6:29 know personally.
6:30 I mean, you know, ugly crying in the mall when they got the news on their phone, but
6:34 there's just something different, like, you know, we're all connected in some sort of
6:38 a way.
6:39 I mean, if you're a secular humanist, you think it's some sort of like a avatar kind
6:42 of way, but I think of it in terms of we are all spiritual beings, you know, made in the
6:46 image of God and that we're all connected in that way.
6:50 But what was interesting is there are some very important things to talk about in terms
6:54 of the story that kind of go beyond the sadness beyond the tears.
6:57 Okay, and I want to be sensitive while I do this while still making my very valid point.
7:02 Here were some of the headlines that came from this.
7:04 I just did kind of curse review going through Google news.
7:08 And I just want to read some of these headlines to you.
7:09 And I want to see if you can pick out what what the common thread is.
7:12 So people magazine posted this headline, Kristi Teigen and john legend suffer pregnancy loss.
7:18 We will always love you.
7:19 Yahoo.
7:20 Put it this way.
7:21 Why Kristi Teigen's pregnancy loss photos are important and common cosmopolitan said
7:26 this Kate Beckinsale defends Kristi Teigen's public grief while revealing her own pregnancy
7:30 loss.
7:31 Huffington Post, Kristi Teigen experiences pregnancy loss and acts in news Jacksonville,
7:37 Kristi Teigen, john legend, suffer pregnancy loss amid complications.
7:42 So obviously the through point here is that they suffered a pregnancy lost a pregnancy
7:48 loss at which point you kind of have to ask yourself, what exactly are you losing when
7:55 you quote lose a pregnancy?
7:59 You know, why the why the emotion?
8:03 What kind of a loss is that why the tears?
8:05 What specifically are you mourning?
8:10 Because there were some other headlines that I got from some very surprising sources that
8:14 were fairly ironic.
8:16 And these are headlines that I'm actually shocked.
8:18 They made it past the editors.
8:19 So listen to this slate of headlines and see if you can pick out what's common.
8:23 The New York Times, Kristi Teigen and john legend lose baby after pregnancy complications.
8:28 CNN Kristi Teigen, john legend, allow announced loss of baby.
8:32 The Guardian, if Kristi Teigen wants to share the agony of losing her baby, let her Forbes,
8:37 QAnon accounts ambush Kristi Teigen, falling death of baby Yahoo, Kristi Teigen's mother
8:42 shares a heartbreaking post about baby Jack on Instagram slate.
8:46 These are the only pictures these people will ever have of that child.
8:49 And there were a lot more like that.
8:52 But obviously the words that stick out here are baby child.
8:59 I mean, from these sources, that's pretty accidentally pro life.
9:04 If you asked me, describing the loss here as a baby or a child, because some of in most
9:12 of the news outlets that I just named here that use the word baby or child to describe
9:16 Teigen and legend and what they lost are the same folks that carry water for the abortion
9:22 industry, the same people that are always in a rush to defend Planned Parenthood or defend
9:28 a row or defend the woman's quote unquote right to choose their first in line.
9:35 Because the reality is, is that the abortion industry, they have taught and tricked millions
9:40 of people into believing that what was inside of Teigen was a meaningless clump of sales,
9:47 a parasite, you know, just part of the mother or, you know, just a fetus.
9:53 So why the cognitive dissonance though, because you have to answer the fundamental question
9:58 of what's the difference between a clump of cells or a parasite or just being part of
10:02 the mother or a fetus and a baby.
10:05 What's the difference?
10:07 And I thought Albert Mueller put it incredibly well and very poignantly in his podcast earlier
10:12 this week, I believe, was on Monday when he said that this is the difference.
10:17 We categorize the baby based on whether or not they're wanted.
10:23 That's the difference.
10:25 Chrissy Teigen and John legend wanted this child.
10:28 So that made it a baby.
10:31 All of the sudden, all of the sudden it was a life.
10:34 All of a sudden it was something that was worth our protection and love.
10:40 But in the wake of this announcement by that family, many have ran to support and they've
10:46 written articles and recorded video videos claiming that it's perfectly natural and possible
10:52 to not only be pro choice, but to also be sad about a miscarriage at the same time.
10:57 You can be both.
10:59 So they call it something like the morning of a desired pregnancy or a wanted pregnancy,
11:06 as if the personal feelings of mom and or dad somehow matter when it comes to the worth
11:10 of the child, the child's worthiness to be protected and loved.
11:16 And guys, our country, the United States of America, there's a lot going on in this country
11:19 right now.
11:20 But if you look at everything that got us to the point where we are right now is our country
11:25 and our culture have been marinated and bathed in the language and practice of death.
11:31 We average around a million reported legal murders of the unborn in the United States
11:36 alone every year.
11:38 Around 300,000 of those are perpetrated by Planned Parenthood alone.
11:43 And here's the thing guys, I think that it is completely fair for people to point out
11:48 the contradiction and the hypocrisy in the situation.
11:51 Okay.
11:52 And I want to be very sensitive during this time and I'll kind of explain.
11:56 Vegan and legend are incredibly outspoken supporters of pretty much every leftist agenda
12:02 there is and specifically of the pro choice slash abortion agenda.
12:07 It's usually under the guise of, you know, bodily autonomy or a woman's right to choose
12:11 or access to reproductive health care or whatever, you know, different thing they want to call
12:15 it this week.
12:17 But at the end of the day, I think it is right and appropriate to point out the contradiction.
12:25 Now, there are people online and I'm going to decry this specifically.
12:29 There are people online that are parts of certain groups or just, you know, people one
12:33 off people that are being incredibly ugly to this family during this time.
12:36 They're not being tactful.
12:37 They're not being sensitive, right?
12:39 And they're all being kind of lumped into this one group.
12:41 Oh, it's going on.
12:42 It's far right, you know, agitators or whatever.
12:45 And perhaps they are.
12:46 Some of these people are that, but there's a lot of people that are attacking this family
12:49 right now.
12:51 But this is what I would encourage you to do.
12:53 Okay.
12:54 We should pray for Tegan and legend and for their loved ones during this time, pray for
13:01 their pain, you know, pray that God reveals himself to them that that they find the truth
13:07 of the gospel during this moment.
13:10 And we should also pray that they reconsider their stance and support for the abortion
13:15 industry.
13:17 And I know that there was some either current or former Republican politician that tweeted
13:21 something along those lines and he was just absolutely roasted for it, but it's like,
13:25 is he wrong?
13:27 I mean, this, this was a pro life individual praying that somebody would change their opinion
13:33 and become pro life themselves.
13:36 And I don't see the issue with that.
13:39 I really don't because here's the main point of this podcast.
13:43 I know it's going to be a little bit shorter, but here's the main point guys.
13:47 All of the emotion felt by baby Jack's mom and dad, you know, all of the outpouring of
13:54 emotion from their families, all the outpouring of emotion on social media from complete strangers
14:00 proves this point.
14:03 We all inherently know that it was a baby that died that day, a baby, a person, a valuable
14:16 human being because here's the thing.
14:20 We inherently know this.
14:23 We've been muddied all the waters have been muddied with all this, you know, gender theory
14:27 and all this, you know, third wave feminism and all this stuff.
14:29 But here here's the thing guys, people know what they're celebrating during a birth announcement.
14:35 They know, they know it.
14:38 They know what they're celebrating during a gender reveal.
14:42 They're not waiting until the kid is old enough to decide, right?
14:45 They know what they're celebrating.
14:48 People know what has been lost when a baby doesn't come out of the mother alive and also
14:55 they know what has been gained when a baby does come out of the mother alive.
15:00 I've been on both sides of that coin and I can feel it in this moment, right?
15:04 I've got a frog in my throat right now just thinking about it.
15:09 But some people are going to attempt to try and hide this fact with word games and we
15:13 saw that earlier with people calling it a loss of a pregnancy or people just saying,
15:17 you know, it was a wanted pregnancy or something like that.
15:20 But here's the deal guys in the irony of all ironies in the contradiction of all contradictions,
15:26 you know, the first round draft pick of cognitive dissonance goes to Planned Parenthood because
15:32 on Twitter, after this announcement, this is what they tweeted, quote, we're so sorry
15:37 to hear that Chrissy Teigen and John legend lost their son.
15:41 And we admire them for sharing their story.
15:44 Heart emoji really really Planned Parenthood hopping into the fray because this celebrity
15:55 couple is suffering a loss.
15:57 And that's not what I'm mad about obviously.
16:01 I'm mad about the fact that they slaughter hundreds of thousands of babies a year and
16:07 they have the nerve in the temerity to sit there and say that they're they're hurting
16:13 alongside Chrissy Teigen and John legend, the loss of their son.
16:20 Because they're imbuing personhood to Jack.
16:24 This boy, this baby boy, not this genderless gnome, this baby boy.
16:31 And we're supposed to take them seriously as one of the many supporters of Chrissy and
16:36 John during this time.
16:40 It's absolutely flabbergasting that that at no point did anyone on the PR team or the
16:47 marketing team there, whoever's on the social media team at Planned Parenthood to think,
16:52 we might just leave this one alone.
16:54 This is kind of a lightning rod kind of a deal, but they just don't see it.
16:59 It's a seared consciousness.
17:02 And so the point of this podcast is obviously not to pile on this family.
17:05 I think I've been overwhelming in my support for them and my desire that you and everyone
17:11 around you to pray for these people and pray for anyone that goes through this, but we
17:16 have to be real about this situation.
17:19 Because if Chrissy and John come out of this situation and they're still in support of
17:24 the pro-abortion cause and one of their arguments is that what's growing inside of the mom is
17:30 not worthy of anything.
17:31 It's a meaningless clump of cells.
17:32 That argument doesn't work anymore.
17:35 You don't get the sympathy for your loss while at the same time claiming that other people
17:40 don't have that same right or that they're thinking wrong headedly because they think
17:44 what's growing inside of them is important because guess what?
17:48 You showed us your cards and you believe it too.
17:51 So guys, I know with a lot of these podcasts, all roads seem to lead to abortion, right?
17:57 And we're going to get into the real if you've thought the podcast has been a little political
18:01 lately, it's only going to get a little bit more so of that as we get closer to the election.
18:05 I plan on talking to you guys about my thoughts on Joe Biden specifically and my thoughts on
18:10 Donald Trump specifically as we march our way towards November 3rd.
18:13 But a lot of things hinge on this one topic because the way you feel about the topic of
18:20 abortion tells me how you feel about humanity in general and we should pay attention.
18:25 All right, guys, before we let you go, we are going to do a quick resilience boost.
18:29 As you know, by now we are a men's ministry and our mission is cultivating manly resilience
18:33 and specifically we do that by providing you content like this podcast that helps you forward

18:39 So for today, I've got an article from you and this is our for you.
18:42 This is from Alexandra DeSantis.
18:44 It's called losing a baby.
18:45 So she wrote this article for the national review.
18:49 This is an incredible article and I'm glad it was written by a woman because she goes right
18:53 at this topic.
18:54 She kind of talks about how the New York Times handled the news of Chrissy Teigen and John
18:58 Legend losing their baby in some of the language that was thrown around and how people like
19:02 the New York Times kind of infuse the politics of the pro life versus pro choice debate into
19:08 this.
19:09 I thought it was an incredibly well written article.
19:10 It's short.
19:11 It's worth your time.
19:12 Make sure you give it a read.
19:13 All right, guys.
